The invaders are continuing to strengthen their hold over an America still reeling. But in the hills, woods, and countryside small sparks of rebellion are taking hold, fanning the fires of patriotism that will unite the country against a common enemy.

Finally free from the clutches of Fen Shu, President Madeline Tanner refuses to leave her fellow countrymen to their fate. She is their leader and will stop at nothing to protect her people.

While the rest of the world stands by and watches, a few nations decide they must stand against Chinese aggression and, despite threats to their own countries, join the battle.

The Uprising is beginning.

For an action novel, most of the action happens off-stage, with government officials talking about what happened, and what they're going to do. Plus, there is no ending, even though this book is 5 years old and no follow up has been published.

Fantastic series !!!

A few years ago I realized something. My grandchildren have grown up, And I have grown old. I gave them 3 predictions and an invitation To come tell me I was full of S***t if these predic- tions! did not happen in th!e next 20 years. 1- Toll booth like barriers at state lines, not for tolls but to check government issued passports. 2- At some point people will be fighting and dying for food and water. 3- We are headed for a knockdown drag out total war with China. We most likely will loose some cities. He grim humor of this is if I don't live to see it oh well. If my grandkids tell me I'm full of S**t. I will have the satisfaction of living that long. His series graphically illustrates just how fragile our way of life is. I hope this series is headed for a happy ending. A great collaboration of authors who have maintained a continuity across 3 books.I hope the next book comes out soon. I'll be looking for it.

Book 3 Uprisin

If I read this right.. there will be one more? I fund it interesting that in this series a different author writes a book.

Let's get to the bad stuff first. When someone from England writes about Americans in a time of war, we are a bad ass. Rural Americans are are so much different than city dwellers. They protect what is theirs. The author seems to think when the President talks about working together to defeat the Chinese we will stop fighting and do it. Doesn't work that way. Life during a war is messy. Self preservation.

Other than that, the storyline flows from author to author. Interesting storyline. This is not a stand alone book. You need to read the whole series. Enjoyed this lazy afternoon read.

I am enjoying this series which I got from the plus catalogue, I like this as i get to try new authors and narrators before committing. This series is different as a new author writes the book each time so there is a different tone. I would say that you need to read/listen to the other books first although he does a good job in getting you up to speed.

I was telling my teenagers of some of the alliances that were being formed - very thought provoking.

The narration as always with these three books worked and makes the books.

Cant wait for book 4 now as it has got me gripped and I want to see how it develops.

Intriguing Story But Too Quick To Publish

I’m really enjoying the story in the first three books, but the amount of proofreading errors is unforgivable. I don’t fancy myself an editor by any means, but the mistakes are glaring. The choice to use different authors is a little odd as well. The writing style does not change dramatically from book to book, but it still takes a few chapters to get used to the different prose. I will definitely read the next installment, I just hope they take a little more time to check for errors.

I had thought this was supposed to be a trilogy, but clearly at the end of this book 3 the series is not finished. There were a lot of editing issues and some were pretty basic. I enjoyed most of the story and everyone likes the not-yet-beaten Americans rising up. I still don't get how easily we were overcome in the first place and with so little actual retribution towards the attackers. No one seems to be that worried about radiation which would not only affect the targeted cities but everything downwind from there.

The first two books in this series were great! The interpersonal relationships were developed and nurtured through dialogue and shared situations, but this books felt detached from the first two. While it was indeed a continuation of the story, the feel of the book and the writing style was too different to feel like it was the same story.

I am still looking forward to the next book when/if it comes out.

Cracking Series

As good as Survival literature gets. Great story, great characters and lots of action. Yes a bit far fetched and jingoistic using stereotypes but it’s fiction and a series I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. A great challenge using a different author for each volume but you can’t see the joins. Bring on the next one, quickly please.

Uprising review

The Burning Skies is a fast paced post apocalyptic survival series written by multiple authors. Uprising is the third book written by author Chris Harris. I hope more stories are planned.

Another gripping episode!

I've enjoyed the third book in this excellent series very much, and want to devour the next one as quickly as possible. If flows very well and keeps you interested.

If you like dystopian this was an ok conclusion to a decent series. I think a couple things were missing that left me wanting more. Specifically a deeper dive into the tactical and strategic aspects of the invasion and counterattack, also some closure on how the Americans take their country back.

At this point I'm glad this story arc went nowhere and has no additional installments because even if it had, I would stop here. It's just not good for my liking and I would definitely recommend to stay clear of the series despite the engaging premise.

What do you mean, a trilogy? No way, there has to be another! Come on, give us the fourth, one of you? Or perhaps a fourth author?

Great series. Finally an author who has done his research in regards to firearms. Extremely realistic and believable story, I couldn't put it down. Cannot wait until the next

By now if you have read the first two books you will have a decent idea of what the series is about. In this book, as the name implies, the US is not defeated just yet. Some of the allies start to come around and begin helping. Interestingly, Canada is amongst the nations stepping up to the plate. As a Canadian, it was interesting to read about Canada's involvement - I don't see that very often.

Harris does a decent job of catching the reader up with the happenings of the first two books so if you happen to pick it up without having read the first two books, you won't be lost. Thanks to having listened to the audiobook, I was spared the editing mistakes mentioned in other reviews.

This series is somewhat different in that each book in the series is written by a different author. Harris does a decent job, but the book is rather short, and time is spent bringing the reader up to speed in the series and then foreshadowing the events of book 4. There was also less action, being replaced by more monologuing. Perhaps another 100-200 pages and the series could have been concluded - whereas 4 years later we are dangling from the cliffhanger. For all that, this book slips to 4 stars.

At the time of this review (2023) there is no sign of a book 4. Neither in print nor audiobook. I am not confident there will be one given that this book was put out in 2019.
