A slim volume, very much a memoir and not an autobiography. Butler is rather too fond of quoting at length congratulatory letters written to him, but I liked him a lot more than I expected. It's an interesting but shallow romp through his career, but it mostly shone for me as a mirror in which to view our own times. Rab was described by some in his party as a "pink Tory", and I'm not entirely sure he'd have felt at home in the modern Conservative party.
