He was a student of the Jalpaiguri Zilla School, Jalpaiguri. He completed his bachelors in Bengali from Scottish Church College, Kolkata. His first story appeared in "Desh" in 1967. "Dour" was his first novel, which was published in "Desh" in 1976. Author of novels, short stories and travelogues, Samaresh received the Indian government's coveted Sahitya Akademi award for the second book of the Animesh series, 'Kalbela".

খুব একটা জড়িয়ে যেতে পারি নি।
অসম্পাদিত।
তাছাড়া এক স্থলে জেমস বন্ড-ফেলুদাকে এক কাতারে ফেলে অন্যত্র পৃথক করে ফেলা হচ্ছে।
অমল সোম অর্জুনকে বাংলাদেশ পড়াচ্ছেন যেন সে স্কুলে পড়ে।
টানটান ভাব ছিল তো বটেই। কী করে লেখক বর্ণনা সংক্ষেপিত করেন, তা শিখেছি।
অসম্পাদিত।
তাছাড়া এক স্থলে জেমস বন্ড-ফেলুদাকে এক কাতারে ফেলে অন্যত্র পৃথক করে ফেলা হচ্ছে।
অমল সোম অর্জুনকে বাংলাদেশ পড়াচ্ছেন যেন সে স্কুলে পড়ে।

Surprise! Not in Bengali😐
First of all I'm a sucker for intelligence and deductions (yes, even "Truth Seeking" as he calls his profession), so he is definitely in one of my top tens.
Literary and Creative genius and an excellent piece of work no doubt, but that's not where my problem is, I have problem(s) with the protagonist/contents itself.
1. He sure does thirst around a young lass, I mean, he thought the world illuminated and the sun shone brighter all because his client's daughter stepped into the bungalow. But sir, you're DEFINITELY between 27~35 and she's only 15 at most. So maybe calm the fuck down? You're old enough to be her dad.
2. When Dia thanked you for your offer on carrying her suticase, she was genuinely thankful and expecting you to be chivalrous and act on the offer. Not because she's the spoiled daughter of rich businessman (like you thought). If you don't want to do it, don't fucking ask, for God's sake. And BY THE WAY, she was dead tired and appreciated your help, you sicko.
3. Dhaka city isn't THAT bad, okay? Like it's crowded and all, but I can assure you we are considerably more developed than what you think.

এটা অর্জুন সিরিজের বাকি কাহিনিগুলোর থেকে একটু ভালো। তার একটা প্রধান কারণ বোধহয় গল্পের অনেকখানি জুড়ে অমল সোম অনুপস্থিত, কাজেই অর্জুন নিজে অনেক বেশি স্বাধীনতা পেয়েছে। তবে সাপ নিয়ে ফোবিয়া থাকলে এই বই এড়িয়ে যান। এতো এতো সাপ গল্পে গিজগিজ করছে, আমারই কেমন অস্বস্তি হচ্ছিল।

বাংলাদেশ নিয়ে অর্জুন ও বৃহদার্থে সমরেশের দৃষ্টি জানতে বইটা তুলে নিয়েছিলাম।সে অর্থে বইটা সন্তুষ্ট করতে পারেনি।রহস্য,টুইস্টের দিক থেকেও নট দা বেস্ট।

মোটামুটি লাগলো ।
রহস্য-রোমাঞ্চ কম আর 'সাপ' বেশি এই উপন্যাসে ।
চারদিকে যেন শুধু সাপ গিজগিজ করছে । পড়তে খুবই অস্বস্তি লাগছিল ।
