Ex-military man Thom Grayson has debts to pay. So when a plane crashes in the mountains near his cabin, he’s hired to find the wreckage—and the kidnapped woman believed to be the sole survivor. But when he locates Geneva, or “JJ” as she insists on being called, she’s not at all what he expected.
JJ isn’t sure she can trust the mysterious man who’s come to her rescue. But she has secrets of her own—secrets she’ll do anything to keep. So she’ll follow his instructions and keep her distance to get off this mountain alive without blowing her cover. B.J. Daniels started her life in Houston, Texas, before her family moved to Montana at age five. She grew up in a cabin in the Gallatin Canyon near Big Sky and later on Hebgen Lake near West Yellowstone. Because of her love for Montana, most of her books are set there. Born into a storytelling family, all she'd ever wanted to do was write stories. After a career as an award-winning newspaper journalist, she wrote and sold 37 short stories before she finally wrote her first book, ODD MAN OUT. Since then she has won numerous awards including a career achievement award for romantic suspense. She lives in Montana with her husband, Parker, two Springer Spaniels. When she isn't writing, she quilts, boats and. makes rope/fabric baskets. She always reads, loving to lose herself in a good book.
Heartbreaker is B.J. Daniels’ second book in the Montana Justice series. Jenny Jo "JJ" Foster is a head-strong, independent woman. She is also resourceful which is a perfect combination for the sexy cowboy ex-military man Thorn Grayson.
A fast-paced tale of undeniable chemistry, lies, dangerous bad guys, and double-crossing. JJ, a luxury travel agent without a place to live, is staying in the home of a client while the client is away on an extended tropical vacation. While in the client's home, JJ ends up being kidnapped. Thorn receives a call in the middle of the night asking for help to rescue the granddaughter of a wealthy man. There is one problem ... JJ was kidnapped instead of the real granddaughter, Geneva. Why did the kidnappers want Geneva? Was it a mistaken identity kidnapping, or was JJ set up? Thorn rescues JJ but she keeps getting away from him and rescuing just her keeps getting harder and harder. She doesn't trust anyone now, but they both decide to join forces and find answers as to why the kidnappers are demanding $10 million dollars for the return of Geneva. Is Geneva really missing?
There was the usual mix of danger, suspense and hot romance that kept the story going and I enjoyed the book but I found the characters were hard to connect with.
The third book, Montana Justice: Heart of Gold, comes out in August 2020.
I’m a sucker for a sizzling romance and I love a good who dunnit. So, who better to turn to for a story that combines the two into an amazing, addictive read than BJ Daniels. I always quickly get caught up in her books with their superbly drawn characters, adrenaline rushing action, and steaming romance. And Heartbreaker did not disappoint. When a crashed plane and a kidnapped woman need to be found, Thorn Grayson is the man called to find her and get her out. A simple rescue mission. But nothing is simple when it comes to the masterful storytelling of BJ Daniels. Things only get more complicated and more dangerous. And Thorn and JJ are drawn deeper and deeper, having to trust each other, total strangers, if they want to survive. This Montana Justice series just gets better and better. Danger and desire merge flawlessly into one irresistible story. Heartbreaker is overflowing with intrigue, sexual tension, and more twists and turns than a drag strip. In true BJ Daniels fashion, she expertly layers the plot and keeps the surprises coming till the very end. Fans of BJ Daniels will love the surprises and sizzle of this thriller with a side of swoon. And if you’re new to BJ Daniels, prepare to binge.

B.J. Daniels is an awesome author when it comes to plot and how to construct a great romantic-suspense. Unfortunately, character depth and development is just not one of her strengths. Her characters are often stilted and superficial and they are one dimensional.
A woman is dragged from her bed in the dead of night. Drugged, kidnapped and taken on a small plane that crashes. Thom Grayson, ex-military hermit, is called in the middle of the night and asked to find the crashed plane. This is a request he can't ignore.
Geneva is a spoiled heiress who is playing a dangerous game. JJ is a hard working woman trying to pay off her father's medical bills. She is homeless and couch surfing in the homes of her wealthy travel clients while they travel. This time she is in the wrong place at the wrong time.
When Thorn finds her, she is not at all convinced he isn't there to keep her prisoner again. Trust comes hard to JJ. Trust comes hard to Thorn too as he isn't sure she isn't a part of the kidnapping plot. When these two finally do trust they do it completely and together they find the people behind the kidnapping plot.
This story will get you from the first page - kidnappers storm the bedroom and kidnap JJ from her bed in the middle of the night and when she wakes up, she's on a plane in the Montana wilderness just before it crashes! That will wake you up in a hurry! However, she knows SHE'S not the person that's supposed to be kidnapped because she's just "housesitting" for a friend so things just get crazier from there! Thorn Grayson gets awakened by his cell phone ringing, he knows it's "the Judge" and it's not going to be good news! The Judge asks him to rescue a kidnapped woman from a plane crash which is near his cabin. He has a debt to pay the Judge so off he goes but when he arrives, the woman doesn't seem to want to be rescued - why is that? Thorn and JJ go on the race for their lives the rest of the book as people continue to want to kill them, kidnap them or do any manner of harm! It seems JJ was not the intended target but still, she knows too much! There is so many twists and turns in this book, it'll keep you reading far into the night like it did me! Another fabulous book from this author! I loved the story line, the characters and especially, the twist at the end!
In comparison to other romance novels this one seemed slightly better than average with the bonus action and mystery. I don't know why I couldn't find any other addition to switch to, but if anyone is interested, there's a cowboy with a bristly stubble and a smoldering look on the cover.
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Montana Justice series. I have to say the characters in this book I found myself not caring about. The storyline was ok, but I wanted to care more about the characters. I think the biggest problem I had with this book was there was to much action and it was moving to fast for the first 40% because of that I do not think you got a feel for the characters. I did really enjoyed the ending of this book.
Really enjoyed this mystery/suspense romance! This was a bookclub read for me where we all pick a different book from the same author and everyone in the club enjoyed their Daniels book. I'm definitely grabbing more from this author.
Grab it if you love the plot twists that leave you wondering who the heck is behind the crime up until the very end, but with romance, a little steam, and some near-death experiences.
This is the second book in the Montana Justice series by B.J. Daniels.
Both Thorne and JJ are broken people. Thorn is hiding out from a past he has shared with very few. We don’t really learn much much about him until the last third of the book. And JJ seems like the innocent victim until you realize she had been staying at Geneva’s house without her knowledge. Not that Geneva was an angel. Far from it. She was so spoiled that her grandfather took away her quite hefty allowance.
Geneva’s grandfather calls in the big guns and asks a favor of his judge friend. And the judge is the one who puts Thorn on the case of finding JJ when she is mistakenly taken from Geneva’s apartment in the middle of the night.
I enjoyed the dual romance storyline in this book. And it did not detract from the main story at all. The Judge, Helen, the Grandfather’s attorney and the grandfather make quite an interesting secondary plot line. I really liked this aspect. And I love how it all got wrapped up at the end even for the more seasoned adults.
This was exactly right up my alley. But those looking for the extra sexy read, you won’t exactly find that here. This is a hard won happily ever after story that I really appreciated. I think the suspense far outweighed the romance/sexy part of the book. Just how I like a book to be.
If you love a good romantic suspense, you have to check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
4.5 Stars for the originality of the plot. This captivating book centers around a complex kidnapping case. The hero is another one of Judge W. T. Landusky’s rebel teen that turned his life around. (The judge is introduced in the first book of this compelling series.) Thorn no longer lives a life of crime, instead he lives a lonely existence in a mountain cabin in Montana, haunted by memories. That all changes due to one phone call from Judge WT. Thorn is thrown into the middle of a mysterious kidnapping case that involves mistaken identity, a plane crush, a construction firm, car chases, a spoiled 22 year old, and an intriguing lady, JJ. Like Thorn, JJ, has a muddled past and doesn’t trust easily. It’s like there are two stories going on simultaneously, both with the goal to bring the missing Geneva home safely. There is Thorn and JJ rushing around Montana trying to find Geneva, while dodging all sorts of bad guys. While at the Davenport mansion, the grandfather, the judge, the lawyer, and the CFO are at the dealing with the ransom and old regretful feelings. This talented author takes you on a suspenseful journey with some romance and a big unexpected twist.
Very good book about mistaken identity, family, trust, and love. The story leans a little more on the side of suspense than romance, but there's enough of both to satisfy. It opens with a rush as a sleeping woman awakens to three men breaking into her bedroom, drugging her, and abducting her. She regains consciousness on a small plane just before it crashes and must find a way to escape her kidnappers.
Thorn is a former military man turned hermit as he tries to escape the memories of his past. He's awakened in the night by a call asking him to find the wreckage of a plane and rescue the woman believed to be on board. Thorn owes his life to the man asking, so he can't refuse.
I was sucked into this book from the first pages, and it didn't let go until the end. The first meeting between JJ and Thorn is antagonistic, as she doesn't trust that he isn't working for the kidnappers. For Thorn, he isn't sure that JJ, who he believes is the missing Geneva, isn't working some kind of scam with the alleged kidnappers. Being greeted by a pistol-wielding woman doesn't make him any more inclined to trust her. I loved watching them face off in an intense battle of wills. However, I was in no doubt as to who would come out on top. Things got more complicated with JJ escaping from him once before catching up to her. I had to laugh when he made the same mistake, only to have her bolt again. Unfortunately for JJ, she was kidnapped once more, leaving Thorn determined to follow and rescue her.
JJ's circumstances become more precarious when these kidnappers quickly realize that she is not Geneva, leaving her afraid for her safety. A just-in-time rescue by Thorn sends them on the run, looking for a safe place to hide. I liked seeing JJ and Thorn accept that they will have to work together if they are going to find out what is really going on. JJ and Thorn are on opposite sides in their beliefs over whether Geneva is a victim or a participant in the kidnapping scheme. Working together brings about another complication - the growing attraction between them.
I liked seeing them learn to trust each other, both with the mystery that surrounds them and with the hurts of their pasts. That trust opens them up to stronger feelings. I ached for Thorn when JJ was taken again, and he realized just how deeply he had fallen for her. The final confrontation was intense, between Thorn's battle with the bad guy and his race against time to save JJ. The reunion of Geneva with her grandfather was well done and perfectly played. There was a slight hiccup in their relationship because neither of them knew how to deal with the speed and depth of their feelings. Both JJ and Thorn finally figured out what they wanted. I loved Thorn's big moment at the end. It was sweet and romantic. There was one unexpected twist left in the story that didn't play out until the very end. I had begun to suspect something else was involved but was surprised by the final revelation.
I also liked the secondary characters of Judge WT Landusky and Franklin Davenport. The judge made his first appearance in Restless Hearts, where we learned about his unorthodox way of helping teen boys who came through his courtroom. I loved the way he put them through his own "boot camp," giving them the tools to straighten out their lives. When those boys grew up, they didn't forget what they owed him and would come if he called. WT has a similar loyalty to his own friends, such as Franklin Davenport. So when Franklin learns of his granddaughter's kidnapping, WT is the one he calls, who in turn calls Thorn. I ached for Franklin. He is a very wealthy man who lost his daughter to drugs and alcohol. Determined to save his granddaughter from that life, he took her in to raise himself. Unfortunately, he spoiled Geneva rotten. In a desperate attempt to rein in her excesses, he cut off her credit cards and allowance. He was terrified for her when she was kidnapped. I loved the surprises he had for Thorn and JJ when everything was all over. I liked the parts of the book that showed the action from Franklin and WT's point of view. There was also a surprise for WT when Franklin's lawyer turned out to be an old girlfriend, and sparks reignited. Another background character was Franklin's financial officer, who was there to help with the ransom.
Heartbreaker by B.J. Daniels, the second novel in her Montana Justice series, starts off with a sleeping woman being accosted by 3 kidnappers in the bedroom in the middle of night, trying to fight them off and losing once they inject her with a drug. When she wakes up, she finds herself in a small plane, her hands bound and the 3 kidnappers on board, but soon the pilot seems to have veered off course, there's engine trouble, and a plane crash, and that's just for starters in this action-packed, more twists and turns than a mountain road, romantic suspense novel, which gets 5 stars from this reader.
The kidnappers are after Geneva Davenport, whose grandfather, Franklin Davenport, is a very wealthy man, and his spoiled granddaughter is his sole heir. He's tried to do right by 22-year-old Geneva, paying for college after college--she's dropped out of all of them, but all he's managed to do is support her wild, unpredictable lifestyle. She's now seeing an older man he absolutely loathes, Zac, and her constant demands for more money have finally convinced him to stop paying her bills, stop giving her a very generous allowance, and ut up her credit cards, in the hope that she'll grow up and accept responsibility for her own life and her own actions.
When Franklin gets a phone call demanding a $10 million dollar ransom for Geneva's release, he calls on his friend, retired judge, W.T. Landusky, for help. W.T. has rescued many a troubled youth who came before him in court, and he calls on one of them, Thorn Grayson, who lives alone in a cabin not far from the crash site, to see if Geneva is on board and managed to survive the crash. If she's alive, he's tasked with bringing her back to her grandfather--and if you thought that this would be a simple task, you are very much mistaken, and there's no way I'm going to spoil this read for you by letting you in on all the many secrets, revelations and all the dangerous situations to follow in this utterly un-put-downable novel--and believe me, these two compelling main characters get into enough trouble and danger to fill 3 novels. All I can tell you is to get a copy of this book, find a comfy chair, and start reading this well-plotted, thrill ride of a novel. It hooked me from the very first page, and kept me hooked throughout. Quite simply, is was one of the most exciting, complex, romantic suspense novels I've read recently. I think you'll feel the same way about it as I did.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
During his years on the bench Judge JT Landusky ran a program to help troubled teens straighten out and avoid jail. This included a camp to learn discipline and respect. Thorn Grayson is a graduate of the judge's program so when the judge calls asking him to search for a downed plane in the local mountains and try to rescue kidnapped heiress Geneva Davenport he never even considers refusing to help. The kidnapped woman did indeed survive the small plane crash. When Thorn finds her she is not at all what he expected to find in a spoiled heiress. She's tough and feisty and, oh yeah, beautiful. Instead of being grateful to him for rescuing her she tries to run away. There's something wrong with this picture.
JJ asked the handsome stranger not to call her Geneva but to call her JJ. There's a good reason for this but the supposed "good guy" who claims he is there to rescue her and take her to her grandfather doesn't need to know why she insists he call her JJ. She isn't even sure Thorn really is one of the good guys. He might be part of the kidnapping group and will take her to the person who orchestrated her kidnapping in the first place. Since Thorn has her trussed up and on the back of a horse on the way to his cabin she has time to figure out if he truly is one of the good guys.
Heartbreaker by B.J. Daniels is the second book in her Montana Justice series. I think the back story to this series is quite interesting. The idea that a judge cares enough about a bunch of reckless, troubled teens to try to redirect them to be lawful, productive citizens is one I admire. Thorn Grayson is thankful for the judge's intervention so is more than willing to respond to his call for assistance. Looks like the judge's program was very successful in Thorn's case. His character and JJ's character really mesh. They are both somewhat lost souls but find peace and love with each other. I really like how Ms. Daniels devloped these characters. As usual in a B.J. Daniels romantic suspense story there is plenty of suspense, action and twists and turns. Lots of surprises too! Romantic suspense fans will love this story.
Thom is ex-military and was asked to rescue a mans granddaughter thought to be kidnapped. But it seems the women he's rescued from the wreckage is the wrong person and now needs to find to dig deeper and figure out whats going on and figure where is the real grand daughter.
From the beginning of the book there is plenty to hook the readers enough where they need to see this book though and find out what truly is going on. I loved how self sufficient JJ was, she was not the kinda women to wait for someone to rescue her she was resourceful at times and sure wasn't going to be taken lightly. I loved watching thing unfold and seeing a bit about Thom's past. Then I couldn't help but be curious about the kidnapped grand daughter and wondering if things truly were as they appeared. Read this book if you get a chance because your not going to want this miss this great suspense novel.
A masterfully woven mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat and flipping the pages of the book! This was another instant favorite for me. B.J. Daniels books keep me coming back for more and anxiously awaiting her next book. She never disappoints me. JJ is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thorn is indebted to the judge that helped him when he was young, so he takes the job of finding this kidnapped woman. I'M is not trusting after all she has been through but eventually she knows Thorn has her best interest! There are so many twists and turns. I had not figured out who was the helpful mastermind.
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately I was not amused nor intrigued by this novel. It started with an interesting plot about a woman kidnapped for ransom and then rescued by a cowboy sent to bring her back home. The heroine is stubborn, resourceful but a bit annoying. The hero is kind, protective but bland. Neither character brought spark to what could have been an adventurous, story.
An exciting story. Nonstop adventure. JJ is a great character, an unlikely heroine. She’s resilient and feisty. Thorn is a little more typical but the two of them together is thrilling.
A mysterious woman crash lands in the mountains. A stranger shows up to rescue her. Can he be trusted? And should she reveal her closely guarded secrets to a man she just met? Find out in B.J. Daniels’ latest novel, Heartbreaker.
Thom Grayson is ex-military and in dire need of cold hard cash to pay off his debts. So when he’s offered a job to track down a woman who went down in a plane near his cabin, he jumps at the opportunity. The only thing is, when he finds her, she doesn’t seem to be anything like what he expected. And why does she keep insisting he call her J.J. when he was clearly told that her name is Geneva?
J.J. doesn’t know Thom from Adam. But she needs help getting off the mountain, so she follows the handsome stranger’s advice as they begin their decent. Surprisingly, the two of them quickly discover that they have chemistry between them, but can it be trusted? Even though he’s happy to play her protector, can she trust him enough to show him the cards she’s been keeping so close to her chest? Only time will tell!
From the time we’re very young, most of us are taught to be self-sufficient so we can make it out in the world one day. However, sometimes life throws curve balls our way which totally throw us off our axis. That’s what happens to J.J. in Heartbreaker. All she wants is to pay off her father’s medical bills. But then she gets caught up in a case of mistaken identity, and suddenly she finds that she’s been kidnapped, tossed on a plane, only to go down in the Montana mountains in the middle of nowhere.
Thom’s sudden appearance seems magical, or at the very least highly coincidental and suspect. Knowing neither where she is nor his true motives, J.J. has every right to question everyone and everything. Not having much choice due to her circumstances, she reluctantly teams up with Thom to search for the very people who took her captive. Along the way, she has some pretty hard-hitting “aha!” moments, including the realization that although her life has never been easy, she can still seize happiness if she’s willing to open her heart and trust someone enough to show them who she really is.
Although Heartbreaker is structured around a case of mistaken identity, the true core of this novel is found in Thom and J.J.’s intense inner struggles. As they seek to solve a perplexing mystery, they must also learn how to let down their guards and trust another person with their hearts if they are ever to get the happy ever after they both deserve. Heartbreaker is classic Daniels, a novel not to be missed!
I received this book in exchange for a fair review.
Heartbreaker is the second in the Montana Justice series by BJ Daniels. In this series Judge JT Landusky calls on men that he helped many years before to assist him with sticky situations. In this book, the sticky situation is his friend’s daughter is kidnapped and he needs someone to discreetly find her without law enforcement being involved.
JJ is in the wrong place at the wrong time. She is mistaken for Geneva Davenport, the granddaughter of a very rich and powerful man and has no time to tell the kidnappers that they have mistaken her for someone else before they have drugged her and taken her far away. Franklin Davenport calls his good friend Judge Landusky to help him arrange for the ransom drop. All he wants is his granddaughter to come home safe and sound. Enter Thorn Grayson, an ex-military man with a past that he hides from. He owes who he is to the Judge and would not turn him down. When the Judge tasks him with finding a downed plane, Thorn reluctantly agrees. What results is sizzling romance and fast paced action from that point on. There are a few red herrings along the way, muddying up who you think arranged it all. The characters are real; the action makes you turn the page to find out what happens next.
All in all, it’s a great read. I started and finished it all in one day – it’s that good. I would heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a good solid story, some good steamy romance and a great setting.
Before I get to my review of the story, I have to say that recently I've been reading a lot of books that I received from Harlequin's Reader Service. This book is one of them. Not only have I found numerous editing and grammar errors in every one of them, on the back of this particular book they printed the main male character's name incorrectly. The description names him as Thom Grayson but he is actually THORN Grayson. I just wanted to point that out, and if anyone knows anyone at the publisher, I would gladly accept a position as a proofreader or editor...now, on to the actual review.
This is the second book in the Montana Justice series, and the connection between the trilogy is Judge WT Landusky. He didn't play a very big role in the first book, but he became more a part of the story in this one. The story moved quickly, I was immediately drawn in and finished the first hundred pages in one sitting. Thorn and JJ made a good team, once they agreed to be a team. There were multiple points of view, and multiple plot lines going on, but things were revealed slowly so as not to be confusing. Everything ended up intertwining and turning out fine in the end of course, although there were a couple of surprises.
All in all, if you like a little light romance with some suspense and a little drama thrown in, then this is for you. If you enjoyed the first book in the series, definitely continue with this one.
Heartbreaker by B J Daniels was a great read. This is the second book in the Montana Justice series where the Judge JT Landusky calls for a favor and the whole book is about trying to help him. I loved the setting of Flathead Lake in this book.
Thorn Grayson is happy up on his mountain, isolated from the world. However, when the judge called Thorn, he is off looking for a crashed plane. Thorn not only finds the plane, he finds JJ, a woman who is smart, suspicious and very difficult. Just when he finally convinces her to leave (trust me it was not easy) the plane explodes. That just starts the confusion and the chase. We have mistaken identities, car chases and ransom demands, while JJ and Thorn try to find the missing person and the kidnappers. Of course both of them are so attracted to the other, which adds a layer of HEAT.
I really enjoyed Heartbreaker and how the plot moved along. It reminded me of the sinuous mountain roads that they had to escape on with all the twists and turns. The intricacies of the story line with all the interesting characters kept you on edge. I liked both of the main characters of JJ and Thorn. Their growing relationship was special. Heartbreaker by B J Daniels was a great read.

This is an enthralling romantic suspense with so many twists and turns to keep you guessing right to the end!
A young woman is kidnapped, bundled into a light aircraft and flown away.... When the plane crashes Thorn Grayson is asked to find her. However, nothing is as it initially seems. Can she trust him not to be another kidnapper? Can he get her to trust him?
This is a brilliant addition to the Montana Justice series. The characters are so brilliantly portrayed, warts and all. As the story progresses, you learn more about them, their past, their actions and feelings. It feels like getting to know them, making it easy to relate to and empathise with them. It may sound like being a simple rescue mission but it is anything but! There will be more dangers to face, secrets to uncover and shocking surprises in store as well as love to develop in this superb story by this master story weaver. BJ Daniels doesn't just tell as story, she skilfully takes a myriad of different threads and twists and turns them, weaving them together into a superb suspense filled thriller and suspense filled romance.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so -I really can't recommend it highly enough!
A woman’s awakened only to be drugged and kidnapped by masked men. When over-indulged media heiress Geneva Davenport’s grandfather gets the ransom call, he wonders if this is a prank of Geneva’s as he phones a friend that’s never let him down. As it turns out that friend can collect a debt from surly loner, ex-military man, Thorn Grayson.
Thorn’s told to look for a plane in the mountains near his home as he remembers hearing a low flying engine earlier. At the crash site, Thorn finds an injured, angry, armed woman. Wary and distrustful of the sexy, handsome stranger, who could be a kidnapper, the woman insists he call her JJ as she fights Thorn and says she isn’t the only survivor.
Thorn can’t stop noticing every feminine inch of JJ and is puzzled how far she is from his expectations as he realizes the thug or his boss could find them soon while he treats her wounds. JJ’s concern is how much more capably dangerous Thorn seems than her incompetent kidnappers but realizes where she is as they reach Thorn’s cabin.
Afraid truth and trust will spill, JJ resists relaxing under Thorn’s ministrations and escapes as Thorn takes a call for arrangements with Geneva’s grandfather. Confused by JJ’s actions and aware the thugs could still be after her, Thorn swallows the guilt over his role in his wife’s death and takes off to rescue JJ. Again. Rating: 4.25stars
JJ is kidnapped from a borrowed bed in the middle of the night only to have the plane carrying her and her three kidnappers crash in the middle of the Montana wilderness. A ransom demand is made, but not for her, yet that call sets in motion the rescue that will give her a chance to get out ahead of whatever threat she's running from.
Thorn is sent to rescue the kidnapped woman, but things only get more complicated from there. JJ isn't what he was expecting, and she has no idea whose side he's working for. Her inability to trust him keeps her on the run from everyone as she and Thorn try to sort out just what has happened and who is behind it all. Once these two learn to trust each other and work together, the story really takes off and the mystery starts to come into focus.
This is one of the best romantic suspense stories I've read in a very long time. The romance between Thorn and JJ is solid, if slow-building, and their dedication to see the investigation through to the end was downright heroic. JJ is no shrinking violet; she's a strong woman who is a heroine in her own right. Paired with Thorn, these two are unstoppable.
The surprise reveal at the end answered a lot of questions, and both the HEA and the justice served were very satisfying. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
When JJ helps herself to a client’s fancy lake-house for the weekend, she doesn’t expect to be accosted, drugged, and flown into the mountains- and then the plane crashes and the fun really begins!
After Thom loses his wife, he closes himself off and builds a cabin in the woods. But when an old friend comes to him for help, Thom can’t say no. Little does he realize that the spoiled, rich granddaughter he’s supposed to be searching for isn’t the one he finds.
This is a fast-paced romantic suspense with enough twists and turns to keep me turning the pages. The mountainous setting is well-written and adds another layer to what is an adventurous story.
I give Heartbreaker 4 lovely kisses- Fun Read!
“I voluntarily read an ARC of this book which was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.”
Another good one to sit back with that is been entered into this series. Gotta love this one too with that ex military man that already got my attention. Thom has obstacles as life is fond of giving us at times. He takes a job that has him on the hunt one that produces JJ. Trust will have to be earned that is for sure that is also part of the good part of this one is how it comes about. The secrets that come to the surface is also another intriguing part. The trek itself is quite a adventure with anxious is just part of what the author pulls out of us. The romance is woven in like a fine weave that becomes part of the story along with the suspense. Another thrilling warm read to disappear into until the end is in sight.
thorn grayson gets a call from an old judge that helped him out years earlier a millionaire franklin davenports granddaughter has been kidnapped and the plane went down where thorn lives in the woods hes asked to go and see if she survived the crash and bring her to her grandfather the ramsom on her is ten million when he gets there he finds her and she has her hands duck taped and holding a gun but she doesnt seem happy to see him she thinks hes someone involved than the plane blows up he rescues her and than she steals his truck and takes off he has a really hard time with this girl but nothing is what it seems and thorn doesnt give up easy he wants to know why she is being this way when hes only trying to save her.
Heartbreakers is B.J. Daniels’ book two of Montana Justice series. Jenny Jo Foster is a strong and sassy woman. She’s also cunning and resourceful--perfect for ex-military man Thorn Grayson when he sets out to rescue her after she survived a plane crash and a kidnapping. Was it a mistaken identity or was JJ set up? They join forces to find the answers. Whoo-wee! B.J. Daniels knows how to write a fast-paced tale of undeniable chemistry, lies, dangerous bad guys, and double-crossing. I could not put the book down! Heartbreaker guarantees to give you a wild ride, so hang on tight!
