description I read this author's THE SAVAGE FALL duet, and although I wasn't a fan of how she wrapped that duet up I still felt she had some fantastic writing chops. When I read the synopsis for this one I thought it would be right up my alley. Plus, I figured I would be more prepared for the level of darkness this author likes to impart after tackling the above mentioned duet. (lol)

And indeed this one isn't for the faint of heart, that is for sure. The writing was excellent. The pace perfect. The plot in

XV is about revenge but what happens when the wrong girl is taken?

Ellen has been taken by a Mafia man set on revenge he thinks that she is her sister but when he finds out she's not who he thought she was what will happen? Will he kill her? Will he keep her and try and get information out of her to use against her family or will he fall in love with her and keep her?

All in all it was a good book but I was just hoping for a little bit more suspense!

XV: Fifteen War of Roses Book 1 by Lana Sky

Mischa Stepanov has been locked in a mafia blood feud with the Winthrop family for years. Each side taking a victim and now its his turn and he will mark them as XV.

This is an awesome, excellent, intensely devastating & harrowing emotional plunge into hearts & minds so deeply & thoroughly scarred, it seems that scars are the only thing remaining.
Make no mistake, this is an extremely dark & riveting story & the 2 main characters, Ellen (h) & Mischa (anti-H) are tortured, tormented & SCARRED mentally & physically beyond imagination. Ellen preserves her sanity through mental escape & detachment, while the other barely hangs

Initially, I was undecided on what rating to give this book. It is well written and is an interesting, intense, mafia, dark romance story. Although, I wouldn't necessarily call this book a romance because there aren't really any "romantic" feelings between the 2 MCs (Mischa and Ellen). Which is one of the factors that contributed to my indecision on my rating. This is the first book of a 3 book series, so I know that there is going to be a lot more to the story that will develop over the course ...more

If you’re looking for a traditional mafia book, this is not it. Although there are elements of a mafiya, it is more of a backdrop in this story. I find this story to read more like a dark romance. It is 𝒕𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌 and 𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒍𝒚 𝒃𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒍, these are the types of things in a story that my little black heart rejoices amongst.

The thing that I admire and appreciate about Lana Sky is that she has an aptitude to cultivate a story that is alluring and she wri

This book, just wow, so dark and so perfect. If you are questioning you should read this book, let me help you with that--- do it! Lana Sky is a queen in the dark romance series that sometimes jumbles lines and I freaking love it.

Ellen grew up with her half sister Briar but lead a completely different life. The two girls looked similar to each other and Ellen ends up being kidnapped when her captors thought she was Briar. During this time she is not treated well and geez this woman is freaking u

XV absolutely CONSUMED me. Lana Sky has me captivated from the first chapter. She dragged me into a world that was so dark and mysterious. So many secrets. So many unknowns. I couldn’t put this book down.

Lana Sky is a goddess of darkness. Her characters are brutal, gruesome, mysterious, and dark. I was stripped bare while reading. Mischa is so mysterious. I wanted, no, I NEEDED to know more. I NEEDED to know what happened next. There are still so many unanswered questions that left me wanting.

This was a really good, fast paced read! Once you start it, you won't want to put it down til the end. Ellen is such a sad, abused character. She's had to go through so much in this life! Mischa is SO dark and disturbed, so messed up... but there is a reason for his madness! Keep reading and you'll understand. The ending just blew me away, left me sitting here in shock and saying what just happened?? I can't walt for book 2! If you love dark romance, you'll want to read this one!

I have decided Lana Sky is one of my very favorite dark romance writers and this book is one of the reasons why. It is definitely dark, but it is also gritty and edgy and complex and multi layered. It is riveting and emotional and dramatic and leaves you wanting more. I loved everything about this book and can't wait to see where things go in the next one. If Dark Romance is your thing, if complex characters are what keep you reading, then this will entertain you immensely. 5 Stars!

Before I begin my review I am gonna say I’m completely hooked to this book. The moment I got my hands on it I couldn’t put this book down. Hands down the best book written by Lana till now.

Initially, when I first got this book, I imagined this book to be a classic, typical, mafia book. However if you’re looking for something like that, then this is definitely not your book. Someone who enjoys dark, intense, mysterious, suspense, dangerous, thriller, torturous mafia book then this is it. To read

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

This book is a dark romance with themes of physical abuse, bodily harm, violence, graphic sex scenes and threats of rape. Please take this into account before reading.

Lana Sky is, without a doubt, incredibly talented at what she does. Not just with her writing, but what she writes as well. While she has dabbled in other genres, she is more well known for her dark romance novels, mostly because she writes a lot more of them. But the reason I keep

In Short
- I became absorbed in the darkness.
- Things were made more intense by only being from one of the characters POV.
- The writing had me enthralled.

In Long

This is my first book by Lana Sky and wow, this book challenged me like no other. I have never read a book like this, I became absorbed in this dark, disturbing, brutal world without a few pages.

This book is written all from Ellen's POV which I feel made things even more intense. Most books I read like

"Mistaken for her beautiful half-sister, Ellen Winthorp is taken captive by a madman who declares that she will be his "fifteen": the fifteenth victim of a vicious mafia blood feud."

Yeah that's the only description you will get out of me in this review, and I got that from the real description, ergo the quotation marks. I'm so livid, I can barely see straight, now that I'm back to thinking about this story again. At this moment in time, I DESPISE, yes, ACTUALLY DESPISE Mischa Stepanov so much i

"The known is always better than the unknown" - Ellen

I am not sure which way is up and which is down and I'm not sure how I feel about it

This is the first in a series and Sky lays a lot of groundwork in the first half of this book. We meet some of the major players and some of the minor ones, who possibly may become major ones. A few of the possible plot-lines are presented and all kinds of dark and nasty secrets are hinted at but very few are fully revealed. Still, no idea who is on the dark s

I think this is one of my personal favourites from what Lana has written so far.
But, I seem to be getting ahead of myself here.
So...
I have read this a grand total of 3 times. My first time was on Radish, second on I think Wattpad (it may have been her website), and the third when I was able to get my grubby little fingers on a finished copy. I remember on radish I had no money/ coins, so I would wait faithfully every week when a new chapter was unlocked. It was really an event. I would eat up e

Left me breathless. Truly moving and captivating story.

I'm speechless... I don't know where to start with my review, so I will start at the end. In truly master-like style the cliffhanger left me wondering, thinking, conjuring up possible scenarios. Like in the best psychological thriller movies, you watch for the whole time with pounding heart, trembling hands, sometimes you want to close your eyes so no to see those horrible scenes and you think you are closer and closer to solve the mystery..

It is a very intense and captivating book. Once you pick it up, you would want to keep continuing, despite being traumatised or scarred by some of the things happening. It'll make you feel and cry. You'll want to hate Mischa but it won't be possible. He is going to be cruel and merciless (though that's debatable because I personally think he did bend the rules many times) and you'll think how can you like someone like that but he is just one of those anti-heroes you love and are curious to know ...more

Ellen is one of the Winthrop daughters, hidden away from most of the world. She is kidnapped by the brutal Mischa, who thinks she's her sister Briar. And this is where the true fight begins. Mischa is unpredictable and violent...But he und

Lana Sky's writing is like a highly addictive substance. I know my heart will be shredded and ripped apart but I still come back to her dark twisted stories every time. XV is no exception. She has taken me right back to the depraved, deviant and dark corners of human mind.

XV is book one of this new series from a new to me author. It tells the story of Ellen, who was hidden all her life for the dirty secret that she was. She was the half sister to the beautiful Briar. They look alike so when she was mistakenly taken by Mischa, a man who has a score to settle to the Winthorp family, it was inevitable. All her life, she was used one way or another by the Winthorp family. First by her half sister Briar, for always taking the blame for her any misdeeds and Robert, who ...more

Lana Sky does an amazing job balancing mystery and suspense with a decently quick storyline. She gives just enough detail to keep you interested in what happens next, and not enough to let you see what’s coming around the corner. You constantly have that feeling of the roller coaster climbing higher and higher, just waiting for the drop.
