When news of the wild behaviour of fourteen-year-old Lydia Bennet spreads throughout Hertfordshire, reaching the ears of both Sir William and Lady Lucas, the friendship between Elizabeth and Charlotte is sorely tested After all, what single woman can afford to risk tarnishing her hitherto unblemished reputation by associating with a member of such a family - even if the said member is, herself, beyond reproach? What steps will Lizzy and Jane take in an attempt to curtail Lydia's unchecked spirits? Will their efforts be in vain? Here is another enthralling vignette in the genre of Jane Austen Fan Fiction by prolific Australian author Margaret Lynette Sharp.
Margaret Lynette Sharp is an award-winning writer, and the author of over eighty titles, including #1 Amazon Best Seller, 'Longbourn Revisited'. Her work was highly commended during the the 2014 Hurstville Discovery Festival of Community Arts, and published by Hurstville Council in an anthology entitled 'Write Out Loud'. In November 2015 she won a Second Prize, again in the short story section of this same competition, and her title, 'More Than a Mere Bagatelle', has been selected for inclusion in another anthology, 'The Art of Writing'. She spent her early years in an inner city suburb of Sydney, moving with her family to a leafy, outer suburb at the age of ten. A self-motivated student who loved to seek out information, she matriculated just before her eighteenth birthday. Her enthusiasm for literature led to further studies, with a particular focus on Short Story Writing Shortly after the death of her elderly mother whom she cared for, Margaret met and later married Ronald Sharp B.E.M., the creator of the Sydney Opera House Grand Organ. She believes that, without doubt, he was her greatest fan and motivator. Excelling in English himself, Ron had edited much of her early work. He passed away on 21st July, 2021.
Margaret's books have been read and reviewed by readers from Australia, U.S. and India; the vast majority of reviews have been positive.
In addition, she has three blogs on WordPress, which has received many encouraging comments.
Sir William and Lady Lucas are not impressed when they find out about the bad behavior of fourteen year old Lydia Bennet. It seems news travels fast and the people of Heartforshire have also taken heed of this young ladies wrong doings, but is it too late to save her reputation and the reputation of her family? A short story which I genuinely enjoyed.

Mark My Words is a 'Pride and Prejudice' Variation Vignette by Australian author, Margaret Lynette Sharp. In a conversation with her friend Charlotte Lucas, Elizabeth Bennet is made aware of yet another effect of her younger sister's behaviour. Fourteen-year-old Lydia has been flirtatious with men from the Garrison and Lizzie and Jane know this reflects on them. But Charlotte points out that their friends may withdraw to avoid damage to their own reputations by association. Jane and Lizzie know their disapproval is unlikely to alter Lydia’s opinion. What might? The last paragraph of this little vignette may suggest another title: Famous Last Words. Sharp easily evokes the style and tone of Austen’s writing, giving the reader a taste of what might have occurred before Lizzy ever met Mr Darcy. This Jane Austen Fan Fiction, taken in the spirit intended, this is a brief but enjoyable read. With thanks to the author for this copy to read and review.
Elizabeth (Eliza “Lizzy”) was letting Charlotte Lucas know what she thought of the values that are bestowed on her to marry into a wealthy family. It seems there are also rumors about Lydia (14, Eliza’s sister) inappropriate behavior going around Hertfordshire. Maria (Charlotte’s sister) has also verified she had heard that. Longbourn House. Elizabeth decided to ask Jane (20, Elizabeth’s elder sister) for her advice on how the matter might be resolved. After all a young lady’s reputation could be at stake.
What happened when Elizabeth, & Jane confronted Lydia?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written down under romance (Vignette) book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great down under romance movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.
