An orphan girl. A dark and twisted kingdom. An ongoing shadow war resulting in enslaved fairies.

This is the world of Cinder. A world where a girl like her can be sold to be human prey for a ritualistic hunt.

But on this night, even the predators might have something to fear. On this night, even a royal prince might find himself trapped by the expectations of the Dark King…a

1.5 stars because this isn't a very good book, friends. The one compliment I'll give is I actually finished reading it instead of DNFing, which means it was a quick and easy read. If you're expecting the same tough female characterization and compelling action writing as Angelfall should probably cancel your book order and save yourself the money.

I read the entire book easily in one two-hour sitting, meaning it was both an easy read and one where I wanted to know how it all ends.

Enjoyable but it isn't up to the level of the Penryn series.

Cinder & the Prince of Midnight is to Susan Ee what Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is to J.K. Rowling, and what A Court of Frost and Starlight is to Sarah J. Maas.

I wanted to love this, I wanted to give this amazing rating, but I couldn’t.
It was bad. Just bad.

I don't know what to say. This really, really hurts me. I was over the freaking moon when I got Susan's email about a new book coming out. I pre-ordered it! And now I'm reading it, I'm 50% in, and I'm in shock.

If this book did not have "Susan Ee" on it, there is no way I would ever believe it was written by her. I can't describe how disappointed I am as I'm helplessly looking around the internet for others to explain how this book can possibly be by the same author. I saw a lot of the previous

7/6/19 As far as fairy tales go- this is 5 stars for me.

Cinder & the Prince of Midnight is an enchanting Cinderella re-telling that incorporates the dark and frightening themes of fantasy, along with some light horror. Cinder is a commoner in the kingdom of Midnight and is sold by her stepmother and stepsisters at every full moon to The Hunt. They are the nights when women of all ages are chased through a dangerous, magical forest by noblemen as a way of blowing off steam so they can return
I'm gonna do Susan Ee a solid here and encourage you to NOT pay $5.99 for this 200 page e-book like I did. Cuz you'll be pissed that you paid that much money for this underwhelming piece of work and it may help lead to you rounding down to 1 star like me.

This was not good. Throw all your expectations aside, pretend you didn't love Angelfall, and it's STILL not good.

The characters are all insanely flat and dull. No depth at all. They're just there. Doing things. Saying things. Blah. Blah. And

Huh. Well, this was disappointing. What started out as an interesting and dark concept kind of just pittered out and left us with a bad ending. Don't get me wrong, this book was highly enjoyable--I read it in one sitting--but it lacked substance and felt like shoddy work in places. On top of that, the ending was unfulfilling--none of the problems mentioned in the story were solved. I was literally left thinking, "Huh? What just happened?" What a shame, too, because I feel like this could have be ...more

I'm disappointed in this book... The plot was very interesting and it was a dark fairytale with a very interesting take on the classic Cinderella story. But it was also told in a fairytale format, it was short and I felt like the author narrated events in a flat way with no character development. Even the main character, Cinder, was not well developed. This resulted in me feeling completely disconnected from this story.

After the Angelfall series, which is by far one of my favorite dark f

This was shorter than I'd hoped for, but an interesting take on Cinderella. I'm looking forward to what else Susan Ee has in store for us!

Susan Ee's Penryn and The End Of The Days trilogy is one of my all time favorite series and when I heard that she's releasing a new book after a very long break, I was freaking excited. Despite the unappealing cover, I was so looking forward to read it. After finishing this book, I was left with disappointment. It honestly didn't feel like Susan's novel and the writing also felt different. I really had high expectations for this book, but it

As far as fairytale retellings go this read was pretty good. It was well written and flowed. This was also my first book from this author, I keep hearing wonderful things from other books she’s written so I can’t wait to read more from her!

Sooo....yeah I gave 3 stars because I feel bad giving less but I mean really? Really? I have trouble believing the same author wrote this as angelfall. This was written like a high school essay, extremely amateur, just like it was written in a couple days and thrown to us with Susan’s name on it so we’d buy it. Or maybe it should have been marketed to 9 years olds? As for the actual story- it’s Cinderella with a couple random things thrown in. I just don’t understand where this came from?? Do

Susan Ee's retelling of Cinderella wasn't a disappointing read but rather not her best.
As for many reviews that said the book is not as good as Penryn and the End of Days....I disagree.
Cinder & The Prince of Midnight was well written. Susan's literary style seems to be more melodic and elaborated than Penryn which I think she intended because it is a fairy tales retelling. In my opinion, Cinder has mature meanings hidden in children's classic bedtime. I like that the fantasy subplo

i've been sitting on this review for a couple weeks because i kinda didn't want to write it.

i loved angelfall, just like tons of other people. i didn't hear about this one until just before it came out. i pre-ordered it. for $5.99, sorry but what a fucking ripoff for a 200 page book, luckily i had some promo credits and only ended up paying $3 but still, wtf. i am all about supporting authors but $5.99 for a 200 page book? i personally would not have preordered it for that amount if i had known

There's just one other book I remember thinking 'how the hell can a woman write something like that??' about. Half of the plot centers around the hunts, where girls get literally hunted down by privileged men who won't control their blood lust. The author mentioned it was commoners being hunted, but you never see any male victims. (Also there are no women participating as hunters.)

The love story was nice I guess? But both Cinder and the prince were your average ya fantasy protagonists and I doub
What a disappointment 😓 This author hasn’t released a book since Penryn and The End of Days series so when I saw that she has a new one (though the cover was poorly done), I was very excited to read this. Sadly, it’s either a different person wrote this or this author just lost her magic since it has been so long since her last book.

The title reads Cinder and The Prince of Midnight but I didn’t know that this was a bad ripoff of Cinderella. I’ve read a lot of retellings. Acotar and Cinder were

this was obviously no angelfall (nor should it be!!), but it was still great. a proper retelling, and still very different from anything i've ever read before. i think there's great potential for more stand-alone stories in this world, so hopefully there's more of that in the future. and hopefully we won't have to wait another 4 years for it lmao.

To this day, Angelfall remains my favourite angel dystopian YA. Not least because it was written excellently leaving me impressed and a half. However I read Angelfall over 4 years ago, so long enough to not rose-tint my gaze as I look forward to this new entry.
The best bits about Cinder & the Prince of Midnight was everything new Susan brought to the table. The addition of Silver and Ruby. Cinder killing noblemen. The introduction of wild faeries, and how the Dark King kept them in

Sigh... what to say?

I loved Angelfall. And I had a very naive belief that Cinder will be like Angelfall but in fairy tale word.... It’s not. What it is...:

- it’s too short. Maybe if it was longer, it would be better. The ending was very rushed and disappointing
- where is the romance?
- it’s a bit predictable, but it’s based on a fairly tale so I’m okay with that

The end of the book 2 * probably.... I still can’t believe it ended that way? Like... Really?? I am
