This book is quite disappointing. It had the potential to be really interesting and I can't help but feel that it fails, and part of that I ascribe to the format. Instead of being a cohesive book exploring an overall theme, it's a collection of essays each devoted to a different aspect of the presidency on celluloid, broken down into portrayals of historical presidents, fictional presidents and the presidency in recent decades. A collection of interesting essays about movie and television depictions of the American presidency, both real presidents and fictional presidents, from the late 1800s to the early 2000s. Also includes interesting analyses of the office of the President, and how it has changed over time.
