Love blooms once more in the quaint town of Mystic Creek, Oregon, from the New York Times bestselling author of Strawberry Hill.

Erin De Laney came to Mystic Creek hoping that the slower pace might rekindle her enthusiasm for law enforcement. Instead she feels as frustrated as she did in the city and when her disillusionment with the job increases, she takes a position on

I am such a fan of this author and this series.

I couldn't wait for this book because the 5th installment had me feeling as if there were too many loose ends and this installment seemed to tie it all together.

Erin and Wyatt continue to circle around one another but refusing to act on their feelings. Wyatt has his reasons to stay away from Erin and as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Wyatt has a secret and believes he is doomed to happiness because of it. Erin is trying to discover where

Huckleberry Lake
is the story I thought I was getting in the last book, Strawberry Hill . Due to some sort of snafu the first book description of Strawberry Hill made it seem like it was focused on Erin and Wyatt, (now since corrected) and they were featured proximately, but it was Vicky and Slade’s book, which was completely confusing when I got to the end and everything was still up in the air with Erin and Wyatt.

I don’t think you need to read the entire previous book to enjoy

Always good to come back to Mystic Creek…

I always look forward to a new title by this author. The natural writing style, the gentle storytelling. It mixes heaps of family with love in all its facets. This time out Erin and Wyatt fought through a rough start to grow something meaningful together. Erin was trying to find her right place in the world and Wyatt tried to resist her as she did. Their lives continued to collide but uncertainty was at the heart of each interaction. So much conflict but

I am a massive fan of this author and her books always go to the top of my reading list when a new one is brought out. This one did not disappoint, I like this author's writing because it's not all about the romance, there is a story to it and it builds slowly. Although this story in the description says it's about Erin and Whyatt it's actually also about Erin's best Friend Julie and the romance with the porn broker Blacky. the two romances interchange well and it's lovely to see the couples ...more

Fantastic, emotional read. Having said that, you should really read Strawberry Hill before reading this book. This story carries over 2 characters from the previous book. I had originally thought Strawberry Hill was going to be Erin and Wyatt's story. Thank goodness it wasn't. These 2 characters needed 2 books to truly evolve their story arc. They are both damaged souls who are struggling to find each other. They are both awful and wonderful. I am so glad Ms. Anderson gave them the care and time ...more

Huckleberry Lake by Catherine Anderson is the 6th book in her Mystic Creek series. Each one of the books in this series usually centers on two couples; one being the main couple and the other playing a smaller but nice part. In Huckleberry Lake, the main couple was Erin and Wyatt, whom we met in the previous book, which had left the storyline open about them.

Erin was a new cop, who was also the niece of Slade (last book hero), and she truly was not happy in her job. Wyatt, is the lead foreman

“And sometimes not being completely honest can destroy what might be absolutely perfect.”

“Sometimes,” Julie said softly, “being too honest can do more harm than good.”“And sometimes not being completely honest can destroy what might be absolutely perfect.”

Catherine Anderson is a favorite romance author of mine. I haven't read all of her books but I've read a good portion of them.

This offering wasn't a total winner for me. The dialogue seemed stilted and the ending feelers rushed. Anderson writes

Catherine Anderson’s Huckleberry Lake is sixth book of the Mystic Creek Series but not your typical romance novel. There are many things going on, especially with two sub-plots piggybacking on the main plot. The main story is about a deaf cowboy Wyatt Fitzgerald, and Erin De Laney struggling to overcome the demons of their past and their attractions toward one another. Along for the ride are these two sub-plots of the secondary characters: Julie, Erin's friend and her love interest Blackie, and ...more

A modern day romance set in Mystic Creek, Oregon featuring two people trying to overcome their fears from childhood. The main male character, Wyatt Fitzgerald, is deaf and has a secret that he has decided means he can't love a woman. The female main character, Erin DeLacey, suffered abuse from her father because he wanted a son and she wasn't. The book was a quick easy read.

This is the #6th book in the Mystic Creek Series. I have not read all but read the previous novel #5in the series and one of the storyline from the previous book which include Wyatt the foreman and Erin now get their own HEA in this novel. This is not your typical romance Wyatt and Erin take 99% of the book to get to their happy ending. While we the readers are anticipating their story we meet other secondary characters/couples. We meet Julie( Erin's friend) and her love interest Blackie we meet ...more

Happy release day to this sweet and emotional country romance! Even though I live in a big city, I have always thought that deep inside me is buried a country farm girl who would like to wear jeans and boots every day, and get my hands dirty planting things, fixing fences, and handling animals. So it was a great change of pace to immerse myself into a book set in eastern Oregon ranch country. Thank you so much to Berkley Publishing for giving me the chance to read this book ahead of time through ...more

In Catherine's latest Mystic Creek novel, we follow three couples all with their own issues although the main couple is Erin De Laney and Wyatt Fitzgerald. Erin moved to the small town of Mystic Creek as a sheriff's deputy to be near her uncle, Slade, who owns a ranch there. She left the big city's police force to join the sheriff's force in Mystic Creek thinking she might get more from the career her father forced on her there. But she's still very unhappy with her career and when a young girl ...more

Awesome read

Great addition to the Mystic Creek series. Wyatt and Erin, Blackie and Julie and Four Toes and Ginger make fabulous couples and deserve their happy ever afters. The storyline of the attack on Jen and the way Kennedy is being so sweet, protective and understanding is great. Using is as the catalyst for Erin to turn in her badge and start working on the ranch worked well and brought out how a lot of law officers have trouble accepting some of the bad things that happen really ring true

This is the sixth book in the Mystic Creek series and it does rely heavily on characters and character interactions from previous books in the series. Even though I have read the whole series, I admit I had forgot some of the earlier interactions between Erin and Wyatt. In this book we find out just why Wyatt is so reluctant to get involved with women and given his experience, it's easy to see why he is so reluctant. As in books past, Catherine Anderson has penned a heartwarming romance that is ...more

I enjoyed this entertaining read. There are plenty of emotions woven through the engaging story line. I found it easy to like Erin and Wyatt and to become fully invested in this couple getting a HEA. I will say that I thought that this book had a different flow to it. This was not a bad thing it just gave this book a very unique feel. If you are a fan of heartfelt reads with lots of charm and an overall feeling of genuineness, I don't think that you can ever really go wrong by grabbing one of ...more

Great story

I liked that both of the main characters had their own issues; it made them more realistic. The secondary characters played active parts and contributed a lot to the story. One of my favorite parts was when Wyatt used a horse to open Erin's eyes about herself. She didn't have that option though and had to call Wyatt out to make him see the light. However, given what his baggage was, I totally understood his reasoning. I'm hoping to catch up with everyone in future books. Please give

Such a captivating, educational and uplifting story. Thank you to Catherine Anderson for bringing to light the obstacles the deaf community encounters on a daily basis. Something as simple as a deaf child trying to ask for a drink of water or something to eat and how frustrating that must be for them. This story also brought to light the damage of emotional abuse suffered at the hand of a parent's "good intentions". Well done Ms. Anderson.

With depth and understanding, this was written with so much heart, that it will remain with me for a long time. I loved it! There are multiple relationships that form, each with their own conflicts and circumstances. Dealing with disabilities and age differences, breaking free from lives that were hindered while growing up, and facing new challenges are some of the barriers that the characters face. This story is brilliant.

Loved it !

As always I know when I pickup Ms Anderson books I will not be able to put it down. I really enjoyed the story of Wyatt and Erin and all they went through to finally realize they were meant for each other. Also the side stories of Julie and Blackie and Kennedy and Jen. Can’t wait to see what is in store for us with the next book.

Remarkable

Another 5 star to Catherine Anderson. This is a page turner. I loved the stories of damaged people finding each and building new fresh lives together. I'm stingy with my 5 star ratings so you know this book is fantastic!

This is as a close as a DNF I've ever come with a Catherine Anderson. I have thoughts, but honestly -- beyond the sort of terrible ways she handled some of the subplots, this was just boring. It was over 400 pages with a story that didn't have more than 200 pages worth of content.
