This book was a well-written and organized introduction to the GSD Breed! I have zero experience with GSD (minimal experience with any dogs, for that matter). I was even bit as a youngster by a GSD and was a bit put-off with dogs.
My GSD captured my heart as a rescue that I've known since he was a puppy. My daughter's former friend was an animal hoarder and my sweet boy was in the thick of it. Long story, very dramatic and unrelated to this book. My daughter, on the other hand, has immeasurable experience with the breed, including other kinship GSD breeds. My sweet boy didn't have the drive to be trained as a "work" dog, so he became my new companion at 8 months old.
This book opened my understanding of my boy and the work and care he needs to thrive along with what I need to do to ensure that happena. I am a lover of history so I enjoyed the history of the breed.

Just in time to pick up our German Shepherd Puppy (GSP), my family and I read this book and really enjoyed it. Easy to read, informative, helpful, anecdotal, and funny - we loved sharing different excerpts with one another.
