Sarah K. L. Wilson is a USA Today Bestselling author who writes fantasy stories featuring practical heroes & heroines in the most impractical circumstances. She loves writing because it is the only way to make a living and give back to the world when your primary skill is an overactive imagination and a tendency toward violent daydreams. Sarah can be found in the outdoors of Northern Ontario with her young boys and beloved husband, reading a book, or fending off her husband's pet turkeys with a straw broom. You can find Sarah's books in paperback, hardcover, ebook and audiobook and they have also been translated into Italian, German, and (very soon) Turkish. Please, do, enjoy the read!
SETTING: Tor lands back in World of Legends, and gives some of his power to Zyla, then back to the battle they go. Saboraak is trapped and her life force is being drained. Tor effects a dramatic rescue of her, and then resumes the battle. In one fell-swoop, the Magikas are rendered powerless and the battle is finished. After this rapidly-paced story, it is time for all to stop, breathe and resume (or start, in Tor’s case) a normal life. I was sorry to see this dramatic story end, although all the major storylines were all tied up by the end, and a happy future is clearly in sight. I will be sorry to NOT be looking for the next episode for Tor & Zyla, Zin and Bataar, and of course, Saboraak and her wing of faithful dragons, as I consider them close friends by this point. (We never want to lose contact with our friends, do we?) I do hope we catch glimpses of them in future works. CRITIQUE: So, what we have here, is a 12 Part journey to adulthood for an orphaned young man, who had no hope for a good future; yet there were excellent qualities within him that Hubric, the dragon rider-trainer saw, as did his dragon. Tor’s tests of character were supported and guided by Hubric and Saboraak until Tor was ‘standing-on-His-own-two-feet’ and able to make altruist decisions for himself. This coming of age story contains wonderful bits of wisdom (principles if you will) that all teens and young adults will find beneficial in guiding them to the best life possible. Words that are all wrapped up like candies, in papers of Dragons and rich stories, that reveal tasty delights to readers who unwrap them. This series is a classic.
The Grand Finale – Tor has shown that he has grown over time into the hero he never wanted to be.
Unfortunately, the end felt a bit short for my liking. The appearance of Gran and Stef are kind of “deux-ex-machina”. Their knowledge helps Tor so much and he reverts a bit back into a whiny character who just does what he is told. The shadow shows greatness which is great. But where did Zyla go??
Over all, a very nicely written series although there could have been more dragon & man team work. I think they were separated too often especially towards the end.
Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Dragon Chameleon series is a wild ride full of fun. I ran through the last three of the books (Golem Siege, Memory of Mountains and Color of Victory) in one massive binge. No surprise really, as these books are so addictive that there’s no way you can simply stop at one. I love Saboraak the dragon as much as I love Tor. Their adventures are pretty spectacular, in books that are perfectly written and filled with wonderful and well-crafted characters. I’m going to miss them but am happy that they got the treatment they deserve. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. Each of books 10 to 12 (and reallly each of the other books in the series) definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that each of these books is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
Tor. He’s no hero. Yet he has the fate of the whole world in his hands.
This last episode was very suspenseful. Edge-of-your-seat. So well-written and very page-turnery.
But: there’s a lot of fighting and violence and blood and gruesomeness and cruelty and harshness. Yes, I know it’s a war, but that doesn’t mean I like reading about war. There’s death in this last episode and that’s hard! The violence gets quite graphic a few times. And that’s just not my favorite part of any fantasy book.
The rest of the book made it totally worth it though. Tor was magnificent! He put the need to end the war before his own needs. And that ending was so cute!
This was a great series. Tor had to work hard to win me over (which he did!), but Saboraak I loved from the beginning. It has been an eventful journey!
We have reached the end of a wondrous journey. But is it the end or the end of the beginning. This has been a roller coaster ride being pulled along by powerful characters, sharing their trials and tribulations. Feeling their pain but also their joys. I wouldn’t have missed this series for the world. I liked Tor and Saboraak from the very beginning and by the end I loved them. This last episode was certainly a test of my resolve NOT to speed read and to savor the story. Thank you Sarah for sharing your wonderful creativity with us. Most definitely one of the best series I have read.
I'm a little sad that this is the end. Our MC Tor has finally decided to embrace his responsibilities, and it comes at the right time. The ending of the story wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it was really good. He lost some friends, and gained some new ones on his journey to become the hero everyone needed. I'm so happy I hung in there and finished reading all about Tor's adventures and misadventures. I would recommend this book, and the complete series
This entire series was wonderful...and the ending a total surprise! Well...maybe not a TOTAL surprise but I loved the twists along the way. Needless to say, the battle ended in a satisfying way (again, with twists) and life goes on for our hero and his 'family'. Hopefully, Tor and Sabaraak will make an appearance in the Dragontide series, because it's been added to my TBR list! Oh...and I love the hints at romance without having it take over. This series is appropriate for teens and young adults...and I recommend it to EVERYONE!
Dragon Chameleon: Color of Victory is the dramatic final book in this brilliant, action packed series. Tor is in trouble, can he save the city, the dominion, Saboraak and all the other surviving dragons and Dragon riders? This book has the very best ending. I cannot recommend this book and series highly enough it really has been brilliant from first to last page. I cannot wait to see what the incredibly talented Sarah K L Wilson has in store for us next.
Good god, this was a breathtaking romp for the end of the series, and what a romp. Read in one sitting just couldn’t put it down. What a shame it had to end. This series has been getter better and better with every book culminating with this one. I just can’t tell you how I loved it. Epic fantasy at its very best. If you liked the others you’ll love this one. Very highly recommended must read.
WOW! What a powerhouse of an ending. I won't post any spoilers here but this was definitely worth the time I spent reading the previous books in the series building up to this! I can't recommend this series and the previous one, Dragon School, enough to anyone into fantasy stories. A truly amazing tale!
Color of victory is a really good thing to tell, as a victory is not always bright and happy, but it can be also bittersweet like here. Tor has grown so much and now he needs to completely embrace his hero side and end this war, but will he manage and can everything go As easy as it's supposed to be? I really liked this conclusion as it was true for Tor and Saoborak.
Read them all, loved every character and every dragon. A must read if you want thrilling adventurers, brave dragons, and much more. The stories are short, but they are packed. Recommended for any lovers of dragons and the adventures they get into.
What a marvellous ending to the series. Tor must find a way to stop all this fighting, by learning to utilise all the powers that he has. He must learn to think bigger. There are some losses along the way, but there always are in war. Peace will make it all worthwhile.
I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the last book in the DC series, and I enjoyed reading this edition almost as much as the earlier novellas in this set. I'm a little sad to see the tales of Tor and Saboraak come to a close, but I'm expecting great things from future series by this author.
Tor was never one for commitment. He knew it was not one of his strengths. Then Hubric came into his life and introduced him to Zila and Saborocks. Before Tor knew it he was committed to them both and a to a nation of people. No pressure.
A wonderful end to this series. There's not really much to say other than with losses as always happens in war, it still ended happily with peace won. Was nice to see small appearances of Amel and Roalcan.
And so, excited to start the next series in the Dragon School world!
Sarah writes a wonderful fantasy with dragons and gives her characters so much development, they feel like real people. Love the main character is the thief they caught and ended up helping them in the end. Love how he has to fight and wins in the end.
What a read. I loved all 12 Books. And now it came to an end. I recommend the series to everyone who loves Dragons and Adventure. Fast passed read. Brilliant. All characters good laid out.
I keep looking for something in fantasy that actually triggers the imagination. The idea of a chameleon dragon started me into the series. But after the first couple of books I lost interest.
Awesome ending to a great series. Definitely did not see this ending coming or the several twist related to it. Can’t wait until the next book comes out.
The last in the Dragon Chameleon series, Color of Victory, does not disappoint. Tor finally accepts his fate, but is it too late. We say goodbye to some characters and have a brief visit from an old friend. I loved this series and I am sad to see it end.
