My name is Inez Garner, and I’m a vampire princess. It still sounds crazy to me too, but again, the fangs sold me, especially now that I have my own and drink blood. Things have become more complicated as people give me answers, but I’m no longer alone to handle it all. I have Darius and Jaxon, plus my knights, and maybe one of the oldest vampires alive joining us to help keep me alive.
That’s not terrifying or anything. But they think I’m Aether’s champion—who is not a guy, but the Goddess of everything—and that’s going to upset a lot of people. Which means they’ll want me dead because sure, there’s not an apocalypse or corrupted trying to eat us all, so I should be the priority never.
Having help is great though, and it seems like the tide is turning in the war we’re all fighting. We’re working hard to try for a future, and now with some of the amenities we can have because of my abilities with electricity, it looks like we have an actual chance. Well, some days, other days don’t go so well.
House of Garner is an apocalyptic, hot burning, WhyChoose romance with darker elements, strong language, violence, and a heroine that doesn’t let anyone get in her way.
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
1- Kristoff was forgiven way too easily. Fine, she said she hadn't fully forgiven him, but come on. She basically did. His explanations didn't resolve it for me. There is never an excuse to treat someone like they're trash or replaceable. We'll see where it goes, though. 2- Flynn doing that thing she does, over-detailed plans that don't even really come up again. I've learned I can skim these parts and it doesn't really ever matter. It's a little satisfying to read logistics and ideas that work out great, but there is just way too much and it doesn't lend much to the story. More plot would be preferable. It just becomes tedious and, as I've said before in her other series, feels like I'm reading meeting minutes of a planning committee. Boring. 3- As in her other series, there is a lot of public sex, which is not my thing, but it's tolerable.
However, obviously Flynn has some game, because I keep picking up her books.
Wanted to put that out there, the storyline is really good. It's just really tough to read at times, and I just desperately wish the author had an editor who cared. It seems like she's got great ideas.
★★★★★ – My Favourite Erin Flynn Series, Hands Down
I absolutely love the House of Garner series. From book one all the way through book nine, Inez’s journey had me hooked. Normally anything apocalyptic - especially with zombies, would have me running the other direction, but this series is the exception. It’s brilliant, unique, and easily my favourite Flynn series (and yes, I’ve read almost everything - Artemis, I’m coming for you eventually!).
This deserves a long review because it’s just that good. The worldbuilding, the massive harem, the emotional stakes, the humour - everything works. Inez is relatable, flawed, resilient, and genuinely inspiring. She falls, grows, gets back up, and keeps fighting. She’s an absolute powerhouse of a heroine.
Also, Erin… please, I am begging: give us character glossaries. With the number of characters, species, powers, family lines, and love interests, we need a directory - especially in a long-running series. Even a website glossary would help your fans so much.
The Men (So Far) Darius – The first, and still one of the best. He’s young by immortal standards, carrying his own trauma, and he tries so hard. He deserves happiness with Inez, and I hope he’s still around thriving at the end.
Jaxon – Love his mom, but Jaxon himself needs a lot of growth. The potential is there, but he’s not my favourite.
Kristoff – A standout! His growth has been incredible, and I’m loving the daddy/breeding-kink energy he brings. More ancient vampires in this harem, please.
Cerdic – Still on the fence. He’s fine, but his family? Yikes. I’m hoping for a redemption arc - and maybe that twin scene readers are thirsting for.
Branko – He faded into the background for a while, but now that he’s back, I’m excited again. His backstory and his mom are going to be wild, I can feel it.
James – Did not love his special scenes or his behaviour. He feels unreliable, and the “what if he finds his destined mate?” question hangs over everything. Not my pick.
The Men Who Are (Hopefully) Joining Sisay – Friend-zoned and trying so hard to escape it. I want more for him. His friendship with Inez deserves to grow into something bigger.
Petre – My second-favourite ancient vampire. A great character, though I wasn’t thrilled about the moment with Lara. Still, I want many more scenes with him.
Vitor – My favourite ancient vampire. He’s powerful, old, fascinating, and gives off the best energy. Also I’m loving the daddy/breeding-kink energy he brings too. I need his backstory, his nationality, everything. More Vitor!
Tian – He absolutely needs to join the harem. The potential is huge, the vibes immaculate, and his story is going to break hearts. And yes, that bite scene… iconic.
Moon – Needs more page time. His connection with Inez felt important early on, but it hasn’t gone anywhere yet. Hoping for more development and clarity.
The Wishlist Men (A girl can dream!)
Vance – What happened here? He had such strong momentum, then James swooped in and took over. Vance deserves better.
Tyson – Rooted for him early on, and his dynamics with Inez were stronger than James’s ever were. Would definitely welcome him into the harem.
CeAwlin – He’s coming, we all know it, and the twin scene potential is there! Give it to us! Give him more screen time!
Sundar – He called her “My Princess.” He said it. He’s already falling, and he deserves happiness after everything he endured. I want him in Inez’s life permanently, there is just something special about him.
Final Thoughts I adore this series. The FMC, the MMCs, the villains, the world, the lore - everything works together beautifully. It’s emotional, action-packed, funny, sexy, and full of heart. I cannot wait for more.
5/5 stars. Absolutely amazing.

Who would you suggest this book to? Anyone who likes vampires, zombies, and dystopias.
What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILERS This one had a bunch of world building elements with the introduction of a LOT of characters. It was really hard to keep track of them all. I really wish the author would have included a glossary in with her books. Kristof tries to redeem himself (personally he is my least favorite character). MC finds an airship carrier full of people (mainly shifters). It’s nice that she reunited her Knights with their family. Lost of vampire politics going on. I really like the fact that the MC is taking it slow with all the guys and doesn’t jump in adding men to her harem after being hurt (by Kristof… the prick). So far I am interested to see where this series is headed.
Are there any cliché scenes or concepts? MC is born special with special powers. Love interests are magically attracted to her.
How intense are the intimacy scenes? Very intense, but most are not graphically detailed. However, there are scenes that are VERY explicit. Blood play is involved (expected from vampire genre romances). Voyeurism. BDSM. Dub-con.
At what “burn” level is the romance? SPICY HOT. Like the first book but with added BDSM element.
Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender? SPOILERS There are four love interests, all males, and vampires. Kristof – Ancient vampire and giant prick. Cedric- Old but younger than Kristof. He tutors her. Jaxon- They get engaged. Darius- They get engaged.

Inez’s life got slowly more complicated after meeting Darius and Jaxon. If relationships and being on a mission from a Goddess (w/ a big G) are more complicated than surviving and living in the zombie apocalypse while evading stalkers is less complicated lol. She’s figuring out this whole vampire thing and Kristof goes and be’s an a**hole. At least she gets less dumped on by men than Erin R. Flynn’s other heroines at book 2 in their series lol. Shout out to NS!!! Loved it. Enjoyed the new characters as well.
Initially, in book 1, I wasn’t sure I ‘bought’ this story, but I kept reading because I’ve loved everything else I’ve read by Ms Flynn. At the end of the first book I was intrigued enough to keep reading and now I have to say I’m hooked! Inez is a sassy, take no sh** kinda gal, however she also has a vulnerability and naivety to her. I also love that her mind, spirit and soul are what ‘her guys’ love about her! Well done!
I love seeing the change in Kristoff that takes place throughout this book. And I love how even when meeting the captain of an aircraft carrier, Inez still doesn't lose any of her confidence or consider taking their commands instead of still making her own way. It's also amazing seeing how much her powers grow and her interpersonal skills and ability to trust her guys.
Love this series. I agree with Inez, the period thing was kind of gross, but I get it. A nuclear f’ing reactor..love, love, love the snark. I mostly read MM as I hate weak women. Ms. Flynn delivers strong women who are well balanced, compassionate but not weak. Just please don’t Tristan any of the MC’s, I like them all, even Kristoff.
I can’t speak for others but Book 2 is just as good as one. Having a strong character build up is definitely what keeps me coming back. I found this author through her Academy series which I hope she’s still writing and branched off to see what more she was writing. So far everything that I see looks pretty good! Loving it
I really enjoy all of your series so please keep popping them out. This second book really starts laying a foundation that I can get behind. I love Inez almost as much as Sera and i just bought ALL of your books and plan on reading everything you've ever written so yeah love them
Another one bites the dust! It's amazing what Inez has managed to accomplish since finding out that she's a vampire. She has had to deal with so much in a short span of time but has also gained soo much! I love watching her grow as a character and cannot wait to see what will happen in the next instalment!
I must say this is my new favorite from Erin. Kristof is an ass but i think he can redeem himself. Im really looking forward to the continuation of this new series. She did a really good job. I recommend this series
This is a wild and crazy story of what if there is an apocalypse and their really are vampires and how do you rebuild what is needed after you lose over half of the worlds population?
This novel continues to grow in depth and complexity. Again, I've already downloaded the next book. This series is likely to end up in my permanent library. I'm definitely going to want to read it again.
Erin has done it again and written a fantastic book to this brilliant series that I've started, I like her pace as she doesn't rush the telling of the story and takes you on the full journey with this new world.
I shouldn't have waited so long to read this series. Just like all of Erin's series the FMC is kick-ass and you fall in love with the world. You'll also be dying until the next comes out because its just too good and need more.
I am loving this whole series, it's so different to anything I've read before, or thought I would enjoy. I am enjoying the apocalypse scenario, the whole storyline is so original with the type of characters and plot. I can't wait to read the next one.
Love the series. Can't wait for the next book. Love the combination of romance, supernatural, and dystopian. Love everything I have read from this author. Highly recommend!!
I can't really make up my mind about this series i really want to know what happens but i feel its a bit of a slog knowing there are more books to come
