I love the Sweet Cove mysteries! I recommend starting at the beginning of the series and enjoying every minute of the character development.
In Sweet Obsession, a bomber is on the loose and the sisters are helping Chief Martin & a neighboring police department track down the criminal. The books are fast paced and full of love, family, humor , cats and mystery! I enjoy seeing the relationship between the sisters grow even stronger. I wonder when Ellie, the youngest sister, will begin to use her "gifts"?
The Roseland sister's their guy's, Mr. Finch, the cats, and Chief Martin are all back for another exciting magical mystery. This series never gets old. Sweet Obsession was another fantastic mystery, full of intrigue and magic in the little coast town of Sweet Cove. I just love everything about this series.
The title of this episode is perfect for me as I have truly formed an obseesion for the four Roseland sisters and Mr. Finch. Not to mention Euclid and Circe of the feline family.
Someone is running around a neighboring town to Sweet Cove to detonate bombs in unsuspecting homes. At first, the police can't figure out a connection between the victims, so the sisters are asked to aide their efforts to bring the culprit to justice.
It is a harrowing situation as more bombs explode and safety is of paramount concern. Especially keeping twins, Angie and Jenna safe as they carry their unborn twins.
This book is a true cozy and draws you into the lives of the Roseland sisters. Bountiful recipes are included and just an overwhelming sense of peace surrounds each page. Don't be fooled though as Ms. Whiting is expert at writing action scenes that have you gasping.
I eagerly await the next episode. As I stated at the beginning, Sweet Cove mysteries have become a Sweet Obsession to me.
I like these because they are quick reads that don’t require my complete attention. I can easily put it down and come back to it later. The plot was pretty easy to figure out. I still don’t like the rapid-fire questioning techniques employed by the characters. They aren’t police, so it seems weird that people would willingly sit and be interrogated by them. The worst part about this was that the plot felt recycled. There was a similar story with a mad arsonist last time.
This read was a…blast! Lol (when you read this book you’ll know why I worded that sentence that way.) A lot of people were injured in the making of this book, but the four sisters, the two cats, and Mr. Finch are fine. Yay!
This series is about 4 sisters: Angie, Jenna, Ellie, and Courtney. They are often called by the Chief of Police, Chief Martin, to consult on special criminal cases. The sisters all have special “talents”. Angie and Jenna are fraternal twins that look nothing alike. Angie is only minutes older than Jenna and she looks more like Courtney than Jenna. Courtney is the youngest sister.
Angie is a baker and has 2 cafés, but her talent is that she has “feelings” about things. Paranormal feelings. She senses when things are not right and uses these feelings to piece clues together to solve crimes. She also bakes and whatever she is feeling during the time of baking, those feelings transfer into the baked goods and therefore when someone eats the goods, that person receives the feeling Angie gave out. So if Angie is ecstatic and proud while mixing and baking a cake, the person that eats the cake becomes ecstatic and proud. Angie’s home is a Victorian 18 bedroom that she inherited from her great aunt 2 years ago. Ellie, Courtney, and Mr. Finch (more on him soon) reside in Angie’s home. Angie is recently married to Josh, so he lives in the Victorian also.
Jenna designs and creates jewelry that she sells out of her sister Angie’s home. Jenna can see ghosts or can feel their presence and one ghost happens to live in Jenna and Tom’s home. Tom is Jenna’s husband. Jenna and Tom live 2 doors down from the Victorian. Jenna also sometimes has visions of what is to come in the future.
Ellie runs a Bed and Breakfast out of the Victorian. She has telekinetic powers and once bent a gun into the shape of a pretzel during a time when the gunman had the gun pointed at Ellie’s sister’s head. Although Ellie is very powerful, she would be much happier to have no powers at all and rarely assists her sisters in criminal cases. She completely denies her gifts.
Courtney is the youngest sister. She is half owner of a popular candy shop in town. The other half owner is Mr. Finch. Courtney’s powers are that she senses things and has feelings about things just as Angie does. She is the most eager about helping the Chief and loves her abilities, but wishes she had Ellie’s telekinetic powers.
Mr. Finch. He is the sisters very special friend that they met during a murder case over a year ago. Mr. Finch’s brother was murdered and it happened to be the same day Mr. Finch came to town to try to make amends with his brother after a falling out they had decades ago (The falling out? Mr. Finch’s brother intentionally pushed him down the stairs causing Mr. Finch to permanently need a cane to walk with). Mr. Finch also has his own talents. Sometimes when he touches the same object someone else touches at the same time, he can sense what the other persons intentions are. He also gets “feelings” about people and future happenings.
And I shall NOT forget the 2 cats! Euclid is an orange Maine Coon male cat. Circe is black with a touch of white on her chest. The cats are not your typical cats because they also sense when bad things are on the rise and know when something bad is happening with the sisters and Mr. Finch. They go nearly everywhere with Angie and are always watching and listening in on conversations. In the earlier book in this series, the cats attacked a person who was trying to hurt the sisters. I’ve believed from the very beginning that Euclid and Circe may very well be the sisters great aunt and Nana or maybe their mother. That hasn’t been revealed yet, but I’ll continue to question this until this series is through.
The recipes: I have to mention that the recipes at the end of each read are delicious…so far. I made the Cinnamon Crumb Cake and it was such a hit with my husband and me and my grandma that we had it eaten within 24 hours. What can I say, we LOVE butter and the recipe has plenty of it. I forget which book it was in, but I believe it may have been book 10. Another recipe was the Honey Cake. I made the cake last night and I swear it is The Best Cake I’ve ever had and I make a lot of baked goods (also included tons of butter). I am going to bake the Apple Cake tonight that is listed in this book. I’ll try to remember to edit this review to include how it turned out.
The book, with the bomber, was a bit more intense than the prior books due to the nature of the crime. I still love the series.
Amazon synopsis: Angie has opened her second bakeshop located in the Sweet Cove Museum and business is booming. The Roseland family has enjoyed a quiet summer since the police haven’t needed to call them in to help investigate any crimes, until now.

Another great read but was surprised how slow everyone was to getting to the obvious culprit. So although it was a good plot it really didn't take much to solve. Nice to see the characters back and to catch up with their lives. A parcel bomb in a nearby town has the Chief asking for help. More bombings follow with more injuries and damage as a result. The girls and the police are baffled. There is no ink between the victims that anyone can find. But a drawing has anxiety crawling up Angie's neck. What is hidden in the drawing? Also the twins, now three months pregnant, are wondering about their mother's hit and run. Does someone know more than they are saying? Will Mr Finch move close? Will the bomber be found?
The entire Sweet Cove Mystery series by J A Whiting is exceptionally well written and extremely entertaining. I always find it difficult to put down one of the books once I start reading. I like the fact the novels do not depend on smut to carry them, but are each filled with puzzles, twists and turns in the plot, family caring and sharing, good values, and lots of well thought out scenes and action by the Roseland sisters and their significant others as well as friends, coworkers and their wonderful Sweet Cove neighbors. Even the people involved in the mysteries are entertaining and you find yourself continually changing your mind about who is the perpetrator of the issues involved with each story.
As in the previous stories the sisters are up to their solving a case. In this one there is a bomber leaving surprises for people who look like they have nothing in common, but do they. The Chief keeps the sisters and Mr. Finch chasing the bomber before he can leave another bomb to explode. Also we have Angie and her twin sister expecting at the same time. Angie knows what she having, because her daughter saved her life in a previous book. It was then she knew her daughter's name GiGi. If you have read any of the other adventures involving the Roseland sisters, you will enjoy this one.
The Roseland sisters cozy mysteries are always a joy to read. Angie and Jenna are both 3 months pregnant and planning their nurseries as well as attempting to find the person leaving bombs at various residences. The rest of the family, including the cats, help and it is an interesting investigation,a race to find the bomber before someone is killed instead of being injured.
Chief Martin calls on the girls when second bomb explodes, the first took two fingers off the victim, the second injures a mother and daughter severely. Mr Finch is compelled to sketch and paint, Angie finds something about the is drawings distressing and trying to tell her something. Another bomb goes off, they need to find the bomber before he kills someone. Good story.
Another great book with the sisters and their friends. I enjoyed this book very much. Can’t wait to read the next one with this loving family. Held my interest from beginning to end. Looking forward to learning more about Angie, Jenna and their growing families. Great job. 😊😊😊👍👍👍
I LOVE this series of stories, the Sweet Obsession, has the town on edge, when a bomber starts to place books in and around town. The author has used a very scary plot for her story, how do you defend your self from a bomb, I'm sure nobody wants to have to think about that.
15 stars!!!! What a book, I couldn't sleep cause I wanted to know what was happening next. I am not saying anything about the book, I want you to read and experience what I did. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! The gang went through a lot of stuff. All I will say. ENJOY!!!!
I love this series. It's such a pleasure to read with wonderful characters. The mystery is always intriguing and you really need to pay attention to the clues if you want to solve it. Sometimes I wish I I lived in Sweet Cove and could interact with everyone.
I have enjoyed the entire series. In Sweet Obsession, the Roseland sisters must find the bomber before someone dies. It's a good story with interesting characters. The one thing that disappoints me is that the sisters' abilities don't develop very much throughout the series. And the 2 babies need to be born! I'm needing more of the Roselands, their menfolk, and Mr. Finch!
A good story about the sisters in sweet cove. Each sister has a different gift that they use to help the police. Jenna and Angie are twins and they’re both pregnant and due to deliver around the same time. They are so excited but it doesn’t slow. them down while trying to figure out who is firebombing houses.
The extended Roseland family has another mystery to assist with, but this time it's beyond Sweet Cove. The mystery is light (as are the paranormal aspects), the characters are as charming as ever, and the future changes for the twins have them thinking back to the past...
Exciting addition to the series! This series has it all….smart cute cats, charming characters with paranormal powers, recipes, evil doers doing evil deeds, mysteries to solve, no editorial issues, no sex, no graphic violence, and no cliffhanger endings. So, curl up in a comfy chair with a cup of tea and a tasty snack and enjoy the mystery. I’m ready for the next one!
I was quite intrigued to read about the premise of these books. The author is quite adept at putting in just the right amount of mystery. She keeps me entertained with writing skills and keeps me updated on the family. That is why I like series, because I hate to let go of the characters when the book is done.
I can't wait to see what happens next I love this series by J.A.Whiting and if you love a great cozy with characters you will love and a story that keeps you turning the page then this series is a must read
Hope there will be another visit coming soon! Enjoyed all my visits and feel as though they are all close friends to visit for good time. Can't wait to see the next book. Love the writing of J. A. Waiting, am reading other series as well.
I have read each book in this series and absolutely love them all. Can't wait to read book 17. I highly recommend this series. They will hold your interest until the very end.
For once I figured this one out pretty early on. I just had to wait and see how the victims were connected to the bomber. I enjoyed this one very much. So excited for book 17.
Another great book in this series looking forward to reading the next book actually all of the books in this series I could really read this book over and still loved it I love how much the sisters love each other and try to protect each other
As several of the series plots continue in the lives of the main characters, this story introduces a new type of crime. Twists and turns are everywhere as our heroines continue to assist in fighting crime.
