“Then why don’t I marry you!” Yu Dong suddenly proposed.
“You…” Xia Feng thought he had misheard.
“You see, you’re looking for someone to marry to ease your mother’s heart, I also want to get married, we’re right in front of the doors to the Civil Affairs Bureau, and with all our papers too!” Yu Dong exclaimed while holding up her red household book.
“And the most important thing is that we just broke up with our exes. This is fate, ah!”
Right up until they left the Civil Affairs Bureau again, holding a newly registered red book, Xia Feng remained dazed still wondering, how did he end up getting married?
Did he just pick up a wife at the doors to the Civil Affairs Bureau?
What Xia Feng doesn’t know is that Yu Dong traveled back in time from 10 years in the future.
Now, having a second chance in life and able to secure a good husband, Yu Dong will live her life at full throttle and without regrets.
Another cute story from the author who brought us My Husband With Scholar Syndrome. As expected this book too was full of sweet moments and just as before I have to warn whoever is reading this, not to take every aspect in it seriously. There are many moments that do not fit well with reality (specially the beginning, no one really just marries a stranger, specially one whose first question was whether they had a house), if those moments are set aside you can truly enjoy it for the romantic comedy for this is.
One of my key question is how come all these stories are based with the ML being a doctor or some director somewhere? The FLs are given the freedom to pursue any career but the MLs are always doctors. I wish that was changed though. I am in a complete book slump and not really reading any physical books these days so for me these types of books are a good distraction till I start on with my usual reading.
If you're a fan of just sweet romances and not an exact plot, I would highly recommend this one.
I've been juggling my life with books, ebooks and webnovels recently; either in Malay, English or Chinese translated to English. This book was decently translated. The translator tried to capture the essence of the book so that it won't lost in translation. What I like about Chinese novel, the writer put a lot of effort in doing research. If one of the character is a doctor, like in this book, you could actually imagine it. This is not some half-assed story where the writer just threw in everything in the hope readers will be blind of it.
The MC was rebirth right in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau. She was dumped by her boyfriend and in her past life, remained single until her death. So, given a second chance, she decided to gamble it all. Why not ask a stranger to marry her instead.
The entire book was mostly MC and her husband trying to get to know each other while coming to term that their rushed judgement ended with them married. It was refreshing as the MC was dead set in making it work and was honest about everything. She wasn't a shy 22 years old fresh graduate but a 32 years old career woman. Her self confidence was her key to success in this second life.
The ML was your typical male lead found in any romance book. He's tall, handsome, rich and tsundere. But once he realized his true feeling towards the MC, get ready for cheesy ride all the way.
Of course a great romance wouldn't be great without one or two antagonist. As it's not your typical Chinese novel that can lasted for hundreds of chapters, whatever angst was there was resolved; easy and fast.
No major ups and downs in the plot, no exaggerated drama or unnecessary misunderstanding that dragged on for too long. The romance is fluffy, heartwarming, healthy and mature. I loved that little conflicts in their relationship existed to show us how the two of them handled it like an adult. I love the trust and proper communication between them, which makes the development of their relationship so much easier to root for.
I enjoyed reading this a lot, but the overall didn't give me much impact. Still very much recommended.
yup yup yup! not the best, but still super good. it's a good read to pass time, and the plot moved smoothly. there's not any super outward flaws, or anything awful about it in my opinion, it just wasn't the greatest but it wasn't the worst.
This is a very funny and fluffy reincarnation novel. I chose to read this book because it was tagged as transmigration. Turns out, the reincarnation thing is just the premise and it turned out as a modern fluffy romance.
This so funny and cute at the start but became a tear jerker at the latter end. I related so much on our FL. Her struggles about wanting to just find her true love in a kind of world that doesn't seem to believe on love anymore.
A lot of life lessons that hit me hard. I shed a lot of tears on this novel that my mom started to look at me like I'm crazy, lol. It is very rare to find a Chinese light novel like this. Usually, a lot of face slappings and mediocre one dimensional characters. This one doesn't seem to fit the mold of usual transmigration/reincarnation novels.
So happy to find this gem. What a great way to start this year.👍❤
PS. Where's the 'update book' button? Did Goodreads removed it? Bring it back!
I have just finished reading this novel and couldn't help but share my thoughts here. My comment may have some spoilers, so please read it at your own risk. I read this story only because I found it in many lists named "fluffy romance novels" etc. And the comments that said it was a sweet story. And it is.٩ (*❛⊰❛) ʓਡ~❤ If you want a light read without much angst, then go for it. Some novels make you think deeply about certain things and feel emotions just because you find the situations in that story so relatable. As they say, masterful writers don't just show characters emoting and expect readers to feel the same feelings. For me, this story had so many lines, which made me pause and read them again. It evoked a hint of that same feeling for me because I, or the surrounding people, had experienced what the characters were going through. Those mini-stories of people who called the FL in her night show were quite interesting and thought-provoking too. I had some questions that I thought I would get answers to as I kept reading the story, but the story ended, and I still don't have my answers. Maybe I missed those parts in which those things were explained, or maybe the author didn't find it important to add those details in the story. So the first thing that piqued my interest was how the FL died in her previous life. And at what age did she die? We read that in her 30s she was a lonely single lady who stopped contacting her married friends and going home because she wasn't able to find her Mr. Right. But what happened afterward? Had she lived till her 70s or 80s and died alone? Or did she die in her 30s? I kept thinking about this. Lol Another thing was that what usually happens in "rebirth/transmigration/reincarnation" stories is that near the end of the story, FL tells the ML about her rebirth. But in this story, nothing like that happened. I was looking forward to this part, though. : ( (It would have taken their relationship to another level. Well, that's what I thought. Let's talk about the male lead. Overall, he was perfect, but there were certain situations that I wished he would have handled differently. Like that one time, he met his ex-GF in America and failed to tell her that he was married. They met again and he told her that, but she didn't take it seriously and even though he tried to say it again. Then when he bought lipsticks for the FL aka his wife, his ex-gf thought that those were for her and took them, and he didn't even stop her because she was with her friend, and he didn't want to embarrass her. Even though he messaged her afterward to tell her that those weren't for her, but I felt that it didn't have the desired effect. I bet the ex-gf thought that he was angry/throwing a tantrum of some sort and that she would be able to pacify him. And that's the reason she returned to the country and tried to get together with him again by appearing in front of him wearing the diamond ring he had given her. I felt that if he had made things clear with his ex-gf during his 3 months stay in the USA, then everything that happened afterward wouldn't have occurred. And at one point FL made him promise that he would tell her if he met his ex-gf and his response was, "Would it hurt you if I told you that?" And when she said yes, he said that then I won't tell you. Dude WTH? Why are you even thinking about meeting your ex-gf? Stop meeting her. Make her realise that you are a married man now and that you both have no chance to get back together. Men. Smh Let's talk about the baby thing. So the first time they had s*x was the night he proposed. And the second time they had s*x was in the shower a few weeks after, and at that time he forgot to "wear the cond*m". And then FL said, "Do you like children?" I do. Oh, you do too. Then let's have children. They made a baby that night. They also had unprotected s*x after that day, several times. And when she actually got pregnant, he said that let's wait for two to three years to have a kid (they were not aware of her pregnancy at that time). Dude, you should have thought of this before you forgot to cover your willy. I felt the pregnancy part rushed. The two things that I found disappointing were that the side characters had their own stories, which were quite interesting, but the author didn't focus much on them. I wanted to read more about them. And the second thing is that I felt that the main characters didn't get to spend much time together because of the workaholic ML. He was always in the hospital or laboratory, but the FL never complained about it. Her patience and love are quite admirable.

I'll start this rant by declaring that I'm a petty woman. No one need to point that out, I would say it myself and I won't deny it because it's the ultimate truth.
What is the connection of me being petty to this novel? This novel made me realize that I'm not suitable to be with a gentleman.
Xia Feng(ML) is a gentleman, his mother raised him like that. He was with his ex girlfriend, An An, for 3 years. In those 3 years, he proposed to her three times.
The 1st time was when An An was a student, she said she's not ready.
The 2nd time was when An An graduated but she said that she still have a lot of things to accomplish and she's going to be busy.
The 3rd time was when Xia Feng's mother is going to undergo a critical surgery and said that she wants to see her son get married just in case something bad happens to her. Xia Feng gave an ultimatum to An An and said that if she won't come to the Civil Affairs Bureau to register their marriage, they will break up. An An already bought a flight ticket to US for an exchange student program and with no hesitation, she chose her future.
I don't really blame An An, because she herself did say that she's not ready to get married but Xia Feng just kept on insisting to marry. This is where the story start, Xia Feng got married to Yu Dong whom he just met in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Where did it imply that Xia Feng is a gentleman?
1) So, a month after their marriage, Xia Feng was selected to go to US for 3 months for a project. Surprise surprise (NOT REALLY), An An went out of her way to find him again. At first An An thought that he will definitely come find her the moment he touched down in US (An An is in denial that they broke up), it took her 1 week to realize that he's not going to find her, and she came to him instead. She asked to eat together and he agreed because he's a gentleman. They ate steak and An An complained that she doesn't know how to cut her steak beautifully like he did and hearing that, Xia Feng gave An An his beautifully cut steak and took hers. Why did he do that? It's because he's a gentleman.
2) On another day, while he was shopping for Yu Dong in the US. He went to Chanel and bought lipsticks for her. And there he met An An who was going out with her friend. An An's friend praised Xia Feng for being a good boyfriend and buying lipsticks for An An from her favorite brand, hearing that An An was happy and took the bag from Xia Feng's hand. Xia Feng being a gentleman didn't refute that because he thought that it's not good to correct the misunderstanding (that they already broke up) in front of An An's friend. He was worried that An An will lose face.
Okay that's all I'm willing to write, there's some drama after An An came back to China but thankfully Yu Dong handled it skillfully. And in the later chapters, Xia Feng became stern with An An and ask her not to mess with Yu Dong's and his relationship.
I know that's a long ass rant lol. I just need to let all of my frustration out.
Why do I want my man to be kind and a gentleman to other woman? Being kind to me and my family members are enough. Thank you. (Yeah, I know I'm crazily possessive okay.)
This was a very light and fluffy rebirth novel. It was a quick read and had me smiling at multiple points throughout the story.
It follows the FL, Yu Dong, as she's reborn to 10 years earlier when she's dumped by her college boyfriend at the entrance to the civil affairs bureau. She's there to get their marriage certificate but is unceremoniously broken up with instead. This time around, rather than taking the hit, she makes the impetuous decision to marry the complete stranger next to her who was also just broken up with. It's not a completely random decision, as Yu Dong recognizes the ML's name (Xia Feng) as a renowned doctor who will make significant breakthroughs in treating cancer in the future.
Obviously with this kind of premise, it takes a while for the relationship to build up, but it's a sweet journey all the way, and when they actually confess to each other, that's the start of a lot of fluff. I was happy that there's not a lot of misunderstandings or bad communication. Instead, the biggest obstacle to their relationship comes in the form of Xia Feng's ex An An, who is still in love with him and tries to get him back. Luckily Xia Feng is a very loyal kind of guy and is very open about his interactions with her to Yu Dong once they get together for real.
I really like Yu Dong's personality. She's very brash and straightforward and says what she thinks. It's no surprise that she does such a great job as a radio host responding to callers' problems. It was touching to see in the extras how she changed people's lives for the better, like the dangerous Mr. Strong and the drunk girl who confessed to her school grass.
Thank you author! I really love this story. It is really thoughtful and makes me thinks about life and its ways. I don't even know how many life advices I already picked up while reading this story 😭 Lol at Qin Yue's shamelessness and Xiang Xiaoyue's sassy rebuttal. I'm so glad it ended like this, from a marriage registration between two strangers and now a wedding for a happy couple. Very sweet. I feel like I haven't read this kind of straightforward story in years thanks to the nature of most Chinese modern romance where everything is recycled to oblivion for drama.
It's rare to find such good quality heartwarming story. <3
Would definitely read again! The author did an amazing job of incorporating all the characters and helping them grow, there were also a lot of lovely side stories that blended well with the main story! I also loved the fact that everyone got a happy ending as well as the fact that this was just a happy and fluffy story!!! 11/10 DO READ IT
This is such a cute story about an independent woman who does what she wants, which is helping people in her way. If you've ever watched Pay It Forward (such a good movie) it kind of reminds me of that, minus the tragic parts. In fact my only critique is that this book is a little too happy ending for every story, but it's still nice and heart warming (:
If you like slice of life books, totally recommend! The love story is really cute too <3 also friend goals... (her and her two best buds are the cutest)
Wow I think I'm lucky to found this novel! This is so good, very lightweight novel but at the same time I can cry for a few scene - sad or I'm touching with the story, felt a bit angry-annoying to two or three or more characters, I smile and laugh a lot. I'm thankful to author to have extra chapter, it's really cool especially that alien. Well I like their profesion, doctor...and the FL is doing well with her radio DJ work... I felt more in love with broadcasting.
just a wonderful, minimal drama tale about two people falling in love slowly and realistically. The protagonist's job as a radio DJ was super interesting.
The premise of willingly marrying a stranger because of a shared experience isn't very realistic but shhh just let them have it it's fine, it's fiction for a reason
I like it. And for Gao Feng's story, a bit out of place but it's reasonable! Or else, how could they explain from being homeless to something something idk? ML and MC IS SUCH A COUPLE GOALS. Everything about this novel is likeable!
