A great introduction level book into audio. Nothing is too in-depth, but rather to introduce you to various levels of audio production. This gives information basics on mobile audio, film, radio, microphones, narration, etc.

In my younger days, this was the ultimate source for all things audio related. Looking at it now, my copy looks pretty abused. Many of the things I have gained from this book are still with me today.

prefer the less-dated, more comprehensive hardcover version but this was a nice primer in my early recording days.
