What a hilarious, entertaining, witty, thrilling ride from the fantastic author of Charley Davidson series (I devoured the six books of the series and I should create more time, sleeping less or multitasking like reading at the movie theatre, riding my spinning bike and eating my dinner at the same time! So I can finish more books. Another solution: I should get inserted special chips too my brain to read three books at the same time!)

I laughed so much during my read and I couldnt leave this

Crazy Fun!

A Bad Day for Sunshine is part mystery, part family drama, and many parts wackadoodle!

The new sheriff of Del Sol, New Mexico, Sunshine Vicram, has her hands full her first day on the job: a distraught woman drives her car into the police station, a prisoner has escaped from jail and is hiding out in Del Sol, and a 14-year-old goes missing and leaves an eerie note behind detailing her demise. To make things even more stressful, the Mayor is keeping an eye on Sunshine as her methods for
This is one long laugh out loud blend of heady comic entertainment with crime fiction, the first in a new series by Darynda Jones set in Del Sol, New Mexico, a place that teems with the strange and the bizarre. Sunshine Vicram has returned home with her beloved teenage daughter, Auri, after leaving a town where she experienced harrowing trauma. She is not sure how this all happened, her parents are behind her election as sheriff, which means she will be working with her best childhood buddy, ...more

Darynda Jones has introduced a light hearted new series featuring newly elected Sheriff Sunshine Vicram. After moving away from her home town, Del Sol in New Mexico, single mother Sunshine is back with her fourteen year old daughter Auri. Her first day on the job throws her straight in at the deep end with the abduction of a teenage girl. It looks like she may have to call in her old teenage crush, a sizzling hot tracker by the name of Levi Ravinder, someone she has been trying to avoid since ...more

This is another book that immediately grabbed me. Like with the first paragraph. Sunshine Vicram is the new sheriff of a town even the locals call The Psych Ward. A town that held more secrets than a politicians wife. Oh, and that sheriff position? She won, even though she never entered the race.
Meanwhile, Suns daughter, Aurora, is not having an easy time adjusting to her new school. The popular kids have it in for her.
This is a fairly lighthearted book. Theres great banter, wild escapades,
I was a big fan of this authors Charley Davidson series which was straight-up urban fantasy. Now shes begun a new one featuring *gasp* humans. Yep, not a demon, ghoul or God in sight. Turns out she can also write entertaining mysteries featuring normal people. Wait.I may be using that term loosely.

Del Sol, New Mexico has always attracted the artistic, odd & eccentric. Its the type of close knit community where everyones on a first name basis, even with the resident flasher (that would be

Newly elected Sheriff Sunshine Vicram rolls back into Del Sol, New Mexico with her fourteen year old daughter Auri and a suitcase full of bad memories and karma. She'd left this whimsical little town in her rearview at age seventeen - running from a traumatic, life-altering experience and a broken heart with no intention of ever returning to the scene of the crime. And yet, here she is having won an election she didn't enter. Is that even legal? One's thing for sure, the most action this place ...more

100% honesty. I requested this as soon as I saw the cover. Cmon, its soooooo good . . . . .

Then I noticed who the author was and I read a few of her Charley Davidson books waaaaaaaaay back in the day. My previous experience along with the title indicating Sunshine might not be a great thing had my brain thinking this was going to be the story of a vampire Sheriff . . . . .

Dont you judge me. Charley was a dang grim reaper so it

Having never read a book by Darynda Jones, and hearing wonderful things, I accepted the offer by NetGalley to read this story and I am thrilled I did. I have not laughed out loud at a book in quite some time, but his book is often hilarious, uproarious, and rollicking.

Sunshine Vicram is a terrific character, a young woman who mysteriously wins an election in a small town called Del Sol, in New Mexico. She has no idea how she won or even more amazingly how she did not know she was
Wow guys!! I have never read a book by Darynda Jones before, in fact I've never even heard of her. Netgalley sent me an email saying this was available to read now for only 2 days so I grabbed it!! I'm so happy I did! I LOVED this book! I loved these characters and was pulled into this story right from the start! These characters are fun, I loved the mystery, and I even laughed in parts. The suspense was great. I'm definitely going to be reading more books by this author no doubt!!

I thought Charley Davidson was a funny and interesting female character to follow. Yet, I must confess that I didnt finish the series and I'm not sure why except that sometimes life interferes with my reading. I do plan to go back to it at some point.

However, when I learned a new book by Darynda Jones was coming out, I was super excited about it. I've always liked her writing style. As luck would have it, I was given a complimentary copy by the publisher and I couldn't be happier.

Even if this book was solely about Doug the flasher, I would still read it and enjoy it.

Because Darynda Jones wrote it. That is all.

This was a lot of fun. Quirky characters, humor, mystery, all wrapped up in great writing. This is my first read of a Darynda Jones novel and I will likely be reading more because I truly enjoyed it. When it starts out, Sunshine Vicram and her daughter Auri have returned to their hometown. Sunshine has been elected Sheriff - but she didn't even enter the race. Sunshine had left Del Sol, New Mexico after having a horribly traumatic experience there. Now she wants to find the perpetrator. There ...more

I will admit to being afraid to start this book. I loved her previous series, its in my top 5 series, read and re-read several times. I was afraid it wouldnt or couldnt be as soul catching. Silly me Ms. DJ, wrote another book that I cant stop thinking about and already want to re-read. The characters are fantastic. Sunshine, Levi, Quincey, Auri, Cruz, Jimmy

I was so thrilled to be able to get my hands on a new book by Ms. Jones!! I couldn't wait to read what her imagination had come up with now.

In this new series we are introduced to Sunshine Vicram. She is the newly elected sheriff of Del Sol, New Mexico even though she didn't run for the position! On her first day she finds out about the "bad luck muffins" and that throws the whole town into a tailspin. First there is a missing rooster, two teenagers are missing add to that the history Sunshine

Darynda Jones has done it again! This is the beginning of an amazing series that I can't wait to dive into as they appear. The story is set in a small town in New Mexico. Our heroine is the sheriff and this is the town she grew up in. But after a harrowing experience she left as a teenager. Now she is back and determined to solve the ultimate crime. The one against herself, Meanwhile she has bad guys to stop and people to protect. Including her teenage daughter.

Sunshine has been elected sheriff in her hometown of Del Sol, NM, which is surprising since she didnt even run for office; she and her teen daughter move back into the town where her parents still live. Sunshine has secrets, as do many residents of this small town and some of them are bound to come out. When a young girl goes missing, then a young boy, Sunshine and her staff go into action, aided by Levi, her onetime crush. If youre amused by snarky dialogue, this book might be a good choice for ...more

This was fantastic! It had all the elements that I loved in the author's Charley Davidson series but with a new set of characters and a whole new world that I absolutely loved. I am so excited for this new series. I can already tell you this will be a series I will want to re-read often.

Those elements I mentioned is the snarky heroine, fun sidekicks and an incredibly intense hero. To me it's the perfect formula to an entertaining series. As fun and entertaining as this book was, it also had some
This was delightful!
You get all the satire you would expect from Jones with a great new group of characters.
Of course I compared it to the Charley Davidson series (how could I not?).
Yes some of the characters (and even some of the plot) have similar aspects.
Does it make this any less enjoyable?

I am totally looking forward to reading more in this series.
Much love to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my ARC.

Her mom may be the Sheriff, but Auri proves she has what it takes to be a sleuth extraordinaire when moving back to Sunshines hometown becomes a race against time to find a missing teen.

Witty, entertaining, humorous and sometimes even a little nerve-grating, Darynda Joness A BAD DAY FOR SUNSHINE brings big time crime to a sleepy little town and the new sheriff is going to have her work cut out for her when the quirky residents of the town range from a senior flasher to a psychic baker to a

***I received a free copy from the publisher via Netgalley and chose to leave a voluntary review. Thank you!***

To be honest I was a bit nervous about this book after her great Charley Davidson series and if it would hold up to it. And Im happy to report, yes, it does. It is different than Charley Davidson, but still very good in his own rights.

Admittedly, it took me about 5-10% to really get into it but then I really enjoyed it.

We get both POVs, Sunshine and her daughter Auris , which

I always get very excited when I hear that Darynda Jones is writing/releasing a new book. So after the conclusion of the Charley Davidson series, I really looked forward to seeing what she would come up with next. Darynda is one of my favorites authors, so I would've one-clicked this book without even reading the blurb (and I only do that with a few authors). A Bad Day for Sunshine is the first book in the Sunshine Vicram series. The

As a BIG fan of the Charley Davidson series, I was thrilled when A Bad Day For Sunshine was announced. I love Daryndas writing style, the characters she creates, and the worlds she develops.
This book sounded like it would have a similar vibe. It did not. This book missed the marked entirely. It was extremely slow and held my interest for about 10% of the book.

A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones is book one in her new series. I fell in love with this book from chapter one.

Ms. Jones' descriptive writing made the town of Del Sol and it's residents come alive. This story flowed as readers are introduced to Sunshine, Quincy, Auri, Jimmy, Hailey and Levi. The kidnapping mystery was complex with so few suspects and clues that I was beginning to doubt if it would be solved in this first book. With Ms. Jones' sarcastic wit, a well-crafted plot and another

A delightful new series featuring a slightly skewed cast of characters living in a slightly tilted town so that all of them have the feeling they are actually standing straight rather than on a slant. Theres Sunshine, the new sheriff in town, who was elected without living in the town, or even knowing she was on the ballot. Her adorable daughter, Auri, who has a deep sense of love for her mom, some interesting investigative skills of her own, and is beginning to awaken to what it really means to ...more

Until then I do want to say that this book grabbed me from the first chapter. I read this as an ARC so there were some issues that I hope will have been found and straightened out. For one there is an incident with a car going through the front wall of the police station and nothing is said about- no how are we going to fix it, or someone is fixing it-it was like it never had happened. Then there was an issue with one of the bully girls coming up to Aurora
