Sweet, sassy, and steamy! Laura Trentham has written another delightful romance, a lovely Southern Scottish fusion. Welcome to Highland, Georgia where the men wear kilts and drink sweet tea. A charming small town with a strong Scottish vibe and an annual event that revitalized the town. An event that is in the hands of Anna this year. Anna knows how important this event is to the town and to her BFF who cannot run the event this year because she is over in Scotland having a baby. Anna is excited ...more

Isabel's, best friend, Anna, is about to meet her own Hotty MacScottypants, aka the Highlander of her dreams . . . or is it her nightmares? Should be fun. I've got to admit that I loved the first book in this series. This one . . . not so much. Something was definitely missing this time around. Not sure what. Could be a bigger helping of snark was needed. Maybe it had a tad to

I am loving Highland, GA and the wonderful Scottish men that are showing up there. Laura Trentham has me totally hooked on this series and I can’t wait until she releases another. The stories are fun and funny and just plain wonderful to read.

Iain and Anna were hysterical. Anna is uptight … Iain is the strong and silent type. Together they bring sexual tension to a whole new level. And, when they finally act on it, there’s an explosion. And then another, and then another … well, you get the pict

While I enjoyed the previous book in this series, I found this second book a leap above in every way.

Enemies-to-lovers trope-✔️
Broody, shy, and all-around swoon-worthy Scottish hero-✔️
Capable, but vulnerable heroine-✔️
Slow-burn romance-✔️

I can't say enough about how much I loved Iain and his characterization. Loved him! Anna was darling and had some great moments, but Iain carried the story for me. Again, the story is centered around the Highland Games in Highland
Sometimes you realize there is more to a person than you assume from appearances. Never was this truer than when Anna met Iain Connors!

A HIGHLANDER IN A PICKUP by Laura Trentham is a fun and sexy romance as the huge man-in-a-kilt and the fiery dance instructor take on the annual Highland Games festival, as well as each other! Anna has a need to prove herself in her small town of Highland, GA. Put in charge of the annual event is daunting and the handsome Highlander sent from Cairndow Castle is p

A Highlander in a Pickup A Highland by Laura Trentham is book Two in the Highland Georgia Series. This is the story of Anna Maitland and Iain Connors. I have read the previous book, but felt you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Anna is taking over the Highland Games planning from her friend Isabel. So Anna is wanting to prove that she can do this and wants full control. Anna is someone who is taking over her mother dance studio so she always seems to feel pressure to prove ...more

Well I didn’t think I could love the second book as much as the first, but I did this one! It’s made me realize I love the intense slow burn of hate to love romance. More like semi can’t stand to intrigued to falling in love. This story takes us on another adventure in Highland, Georgia where two different characters and worlds collide. And leaves the question “can you leave something you always know to be with the person who makes you feel most alive.”

In this second book of an already enjoyable series, Iain Connors heads to Highland, Georgia, to take over the planning and running of the Highland Games. In the first book in this series, A Highlander Walks Into a Bar, we already met a gorgeous man in kilts and also the Games. No worries, however, because these books do work as standalones, but when I can, I will read them in order.

Anna Maitland is now in charge of the game, because best friend Izzy (from book #1 in the series), is now unabl

Highlander in a Pickup is the second book in Laura Trentham's Highland, Georgia series. I read the first book A Highlander Walks Into A Bar and really enjoyed it. This book is about the couple in the first book's best friends. Also revolves around the highland festival from the previous book. You definitely DO NOT need to read the first book to get this book, but it does give you some background.

Generally I love this author's work, but this one just didn’t do it for me. First, let me share what I liked. As always, the descriptions were vivid and enticing, and I love the small Georgia town, as well as the glimpses at Scotland.

I also love Iain's character. Big muscular man, Scottish accent, AND a kilt? Yes please!!! He's also an honorable man who takes his promises to his father seriously. He's personable, kind and generous, and it takes no time for the people of Highlands, GA, to be eat
It was pretty much at turtle speed for the first 65% of the book with nothing happening except for lots of pushing and pulling and both main characters internalizing all their insecurities. It sped up like the hare to the rushed finish and we’re finally at the mildly intriguing epilogue which is essentially a teaser to the upcoming book featuring Holt and a Scottish singer. I’ll probably still read it to complete the series but this is a step down from the previous book and not up to par with th ...more

Iain Connors is rather shy and not great with words, in part due to his unconventional and largely solitary upbringing on the grounds of a Scottish castle. Now that his service in Her Majesty's Army is over, Iain wants to explore his options and decide what to do with his life, even though it is understood by his family and friends that he'll take over his father's position as groundskeeper at Cairndow Castle upon his retirement. But Iain isn't quite ready to settle into tha

A Highlander in a Pickup is the second book in the Highland Georgia Series and it follows the story of Iain & Anna. When Anna’s best friend Isabel is unable to run the Highland Games this year, Anna steps up to the challenge. However, Anna quickly discovers that she might just be in over her head. And when Iain shows up to give her hand, he knocks her world off its axis…..

Overall, I thought this book was a quick and easy read. I had a fun time returning to the Highland Georgia Series

Lovely read!
The protagonist of the second book of Highland, Georgia, Anna Maitland may come across as a bit abrasive and bitter at the beginning, but keep reading on and you will understand why and will warm up to her. Her father walked out on his family when she was a child, which explains Anna's trust issues. Iain Connor has a different dilemma - he is expected to continue the family tradition of serving as the Cairdraw castle caretaker, but his heart isn't in it.
The story had a good pace and

Despite considering myself a solid Laura Trentham fan, this Highland, Georgia series is not working for me. Not one bit, sadly. And even more frustrating is that I’m not really able to put my finger on WHAT isn’t working. I just know it isn’t.

Anna grew up in Highland, Georgia and returned home after trying to make it as a dancer in New York. When her mom decided to move to Florida, Anna took over her dance studio. Now she has big dreams for Highland and hopes to accomplish them by becoming mayor

Izzy and Alasdair have relocated to Scotland and she’s on bed rest nearing the end of her pregnancy. Having had Anna’s help, and folders full of “festival” information, Anna is now in charge. With Isobel’s mother and her new love Gareth also in Scotland, a busy dance studio to run, preparing to announce her own candidacy for mayor and the worries over ‘getting the festival right”, the last thing Anna needs is a trailer bearing a black faced sheep and a Highland cow (Ozzie and Harriet) to care fo ...more

I fell in love with Highland in the first book in the series, and was so excited to get my hands on the next installment! I think I liked this one even more than the first.

Anna lives on her own, runs her own successful dance studio, and is preparing to run for mayor - and above all, she wants to prove to everyone that she is successful and independent. So she relishes the opportunity to prove herself by taking over the planning of the annual Highland festival, even if she is in over her head. Th

Anna Maitland has something to prove and believes that running the Highland Games for her town will do the trick and also help her win the mayoral race. She is not thrilled to have Iain Connors show up ready to help her…I mean…men take over and that is NOT going to happen to her! Only…over time her perceptions begin to be possibly wrong and if she is wrong about one thing could she be wrong about others? Will they succeed in pulling o

I loved Trentham's first book in this series, A Highlander Walks Into a Bar, so I was thrilled to win an advance copy of this second story which I love as much, or more.
Because Izzy and Alasdair from the first story are in Scotland, awaiting the birth of their daughter, Izzy and her mother have asked Anna Maitland to run the annual Highland, Georgia Scottish festival. So I hope you read the first book in this series (A Highlander walks into a bar) which in it we met Anna one of the main characters in this one and I had liked her in the last book, in this one not as much. Ms Trentham returns us to Highland, GA for another installment of the Highland Games - this time organized by Buchanan family friend, Anna, and Iain Connors sent from Scotland (by Izzy) to help. This second book in the series takes place one year after the first book and reads as a stand-alone. (Reading book 1 would be helpful for background).

Anna and Iain are both likable characters who are battling a little bit of emotional baggage as they try to pull off the high expectations around the game

I loved the humor in this book. Iian and Anna were cute together and Anna was not immune to wanting to find out the age old question as to what the man wore under his kilt. The funniest part for me was when Anna fell onto the ground and Iian unintentionally gave her two eyes full as he knelt in front of her to see if she was okay. Imagine the unexpected view!
The funny and the hot of the story (and the animals) all worked together to create a hilarious and delightful HEA!

Anna tends to get herself into trouble with her words, “what? No! I don’t care what you have on— or don’t have on— under there.” Except now all she could think about was what was under his kilt. She needed a fan. Or a dunk in an ice bath." When it comes to Iain, Anna is quite eloquent, “I can see your . . .” She cupped her hand and gestured toward him. “You know, your junk.” I adored this book, I loved Iain and Anna.
