This ended up being a great story! Tropes that litter the thriller genre seemed to crop up at the beginning, but tropes are tropes for a reason, and good characters and plotting redeemed it! The author isn’t afraid to go to dark places and get graphic without being gratuitous.

The predictability was reserved for character reveals, not plot, and surprisingly once I reached those reveals it didn’t bother me! The plot did surprise me, as did the likability of our main characters. I’d definitely reco ...more

I love the idea behind this story - what if a girl who has been abducted is able to escape, but the bad guy is never caught? How does she attempt to move on knowing he is still out there? I've read a few books with this premise because it really intrigues me. This was good, creepy in parts - I'll definitely never be able to hear "You Are My Sunshine" without getting chills anymore. It would probably translate really well into film - maybe not a blockbuster hit, but at least a super creepy Lifeti

It was a good idea that could have been executed a lot better. It didn't feel like the author built the characters that well therefore I felt it was very obvious who the bad guy was (his name was a big give away) which isn't what you want for a thriller.

This was a very compelling story. I didn't want to put it down. All the characters were well written and very likeable. I liked how we see the effects from Taylor's kidnapping. It felt very authentic and reasonable.
The ending was a little bit hard to believe. It also felt a little too rushed. A lot of things happen in the last 30 pages and I would have liked to see a little more of the fallout. I wanted another chapter to see how Taylor copes. Hopefully we will get to see that in Part 2.

Suspenseful - Definitely Kept My Interest. I Want More !!
I am usually a 2-3 book at a time reader. Putting one book down and picking up another taking my time getting through each one in rotation. That was simply not possible with this story. I had to know how it ended, although at times I was pretty terrified of what would be next. Amazing that this is the author's first attempt at publishing. Can't wait for her next book and am hoping this particular story has a Part II. Highly recommend !!

I loved this book! It's not often that I find a book I just can't put down, but this was one of them. I was hooked from the first chapter and it held my attention until the last page. It's well written, engaging, and suspenseful with some unexpected twists. A must read and I can't wait for the sequel!

I read this book while on vacation. It was very good. I read for pleasure. I care if it is well written and keeps my interest. Nothing too trashy or vulgar is a bonus. This book definitely kept my interest and was well written. Intimate scenes were well written, appropriately discreet and the language was fine and appropriate to the characters. My only issue came with the ending. Keep in mind I was finishing the book while packing up from vacation and heading home. I had a lot of starts and stop

This is the first self published book I read in my life - at least as far as I remember.
It's always easy to criticize other people's work but personally, it felt like reading a fan-fiction. Besides a few typos and missing punctuation marks (which is a pet peeve of mine in every publication - books, newspaper articles...) the story had a weird pacing. Suddenly people had feelings without any real build up. After the second half, I was invested in the story line but still it was weird to read.

Heyo I'm feeling a bit tired and not inspired to write a review but also I didn't want to give this book 2 stars and not explain anything because to be fair I don't think it's a bad book, I think it's mostly me.
So positives : I thought the main character was smart. Also her mom. I think their relationship was very cute and loving and they were both mature about stuff. They made decisions that made sense to me.
Negative : This is a self-published book and I thought it lacked a little bit of edit ...more

Oh man oh man oh man what a great book!
I listen to this book through audible because my favorite booktuber Merphy Napier recommended it and to top it all off she is the narrator. And man I’m telling you it did not disappoint!
I did figure out the twists of the book BUT that didn’t make this book any less excited! The ending was fantastic!

I could not put this book down. I read it in 2 days! I picked it up after meeting the author at an author reading. I love supporting local authors so I decided to give it a go and it did not disappoint! It’s a story of survival and strength and the pursuit of normalcy after a girl (Taylor) was abducted, held captive and assaulted for 40 days. The fear that her abductor is coming back for her, since he was never caught, consumes her and she fights to regain her life. It kept me on the edge of my

This book was equally creepy and intriguing. The MC is unable to remember a lot of her trauma and is attempting to get her memories back to help a little girl who had been taken, and they think it was the same person. Eventually she is able to retrieve her memories but now the child thief is after her again. It was a little predictable but I liked the ending, the pacing was great and I loved the audiobook narrator 😁

marked it as did-not-finish
Three strikes and I gave up only seven chapters in.
The book needs an editor. There were so many typos and grammatical errors that it was distracting.
The writing was also clumsy, the worst being head-hopping and POV errors all over the place. It made it impossible for me to connect to the characters.
When the swearing also started amping up, I called it.

I think this book deserves a review even though I did not love it, but I loved the idea. First, the story had a painfully slow start followed by a very exciting middle. I feel everyone but me loved the ending. I hated it. Not only the twist was obvious to me (I don't mind this that much), there were gaps the size of contents and unbelievable events. And that epilogue, which is of course unbelievable and serves only to inform us that there is a sequel. This book could have been great. I really re

Excellent read. A book and effort you should be proud of. For someone who normally doesn't read, I finished it in two days. I was totally emersed in the story throughout the book until the final word. Can hardly wait till the next one.

This book was phenomenal. The build-up wasn't too slow or too rushed. Absolutely gripping. I definitely suggest the audible version, the narrator did a fantastic job and I was hooked from the first 5 minutes.
