Maz Maddox is the odd lovechild between a unicorn, dinosaur and vampire. The outcome is a human-like figure who inherited aspects of all three. She is a champion of logic and science, adores beauty and whimsy, and has a slight streak of darkness that dances the line of genius and insanity.
Residing in the wild land of cowboy boots and Shiner beer, Maz spends her time with her two dogs and a husband who she adores, and is constantly demanding that science gives her a pocket sized triceratops. The efforts of these demands have yet to be fulfilled.
When she’s not pining over the lack of chihuahua sized ornithischia, she’s a writer who loves crafting adventures tales sprinkled with humor, a hefty helping of romance, and topped with a happy ending.
Review: This is a free short story collection (that's probably about novella-length in total) available on the author's website, about some side characters from the Stallion Ridge series, and I loved it!
I first came across the relationship between Jack and Gideon in Scarlet's story, I think it was? And even then, I was curious about them. But after reading this, oh man, I would've loved a whole book about these two! I still would. They might be my favorite couple of all the Stallion Ridge couples. I love these kinds of complicated, emotional, angsty relationships. Their love was deep and fierce. Their sex was desperate and passionate. The second story and the end of the third both hit me in the feels. There was even a bit of plot to these beyond the romance and some development and insight into the kind of people these characters are. Overall just a great addition to the Stallion Ridge world!
I was really hoping these two would stay together. I liked Jack and Gideon, that their relationship was balanced and they had each other’s backs. It was nice to see how Cody got to Stallion ridge. My favorite from the three shorts was the gravestones one. Gideon racing home because his death was faked and Jack freaking out he was a ghost. Also curious about the cousin. Still a shock they didn’t become mates. The crossroads meeting decision was sad, fingers crossed they can retire together.

I am loving the first part of this series. The author does an awesome job of introducing this world and the main characters. Learning about them has been a good journey so far. It is recommended that you read it in the order provided by the author. This story builds in each book. The pain that was felt in this collection...wow.
I enjoyed this collection of short stories introducing me to Jack and Gideon. It's clear they have history together and while I don't know their history, I figured it out quickly. Jack is a sheriff and centaur. Gideon is a bounty hunter and wolf shifter. They were lovers until they couldn't see eye to eye. These short story let us see the push pull of their relationship as well some hot sex. the stories centered around protecting shifters, especially the children who have been kidnapped.
It’s bittersweet, this is so good - their adventure and passion. I cant belive these are just short stories. My only regret is not being able to read this sooner. Maz said at the end of the book that this is not the end right? I’m reserving my two stars for jack and gideon HEA. Please!
