This was a heart wrenching story about the sudden loss of a first true love, healing and starting over.

There were a lot of people there to help Cole Harkin, along his healing journey. The person put in the roll of directly caring for his newborn daughter Layla, while he was on the road touring with his band, held a significance he found comfort in and was thankful for. Through the years he also found himself tempted by her. His grief still too raw and unsettled though, he

First time there will not be any rating although I finished this book (my previous books without rating were dnf, that's why no rating there).

I did like the cover! And it's the only thing I liked about this book. The author's writing style wasn't bad, but the story lacked characters development.
Till almost 30% of this book we see a grieving man, broken man. He lost his wife and he was devastated. He said he was faithful to her, but suddenly 6 years later we know that while on road he had his wil

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit, this is the first book I've read by KL Shandwick. Now that I know what I'm missing, I want to delve into her backlist and read every word. Another Life is a beautifully constructed story of Cole Harkin trying to rebuild his life when fate deals him the best thing in his life and the cruelest blow at the same time.
The singing heartthrob had totally altered his life when he was blindsided by love. He and Grace had planned out their future until fate reared its ugly
I couldn't connect with the characters or the story.

Wow! Deep breath in, I really don’t feel my words can begin to do justice to this book let alone express just how good it is.
The depth of emotions throughout is so raw and real, the grief side of this I’ve felt myself, the loss and feeling like you walking under water or in a fog just completely consumed by the pain and not knowing how to get past it or start to feel anything else. For some it may be an easier thing to deal with or deal in a different way but for me this book mirrored so trully

Another Life by K.L. Shandwick is a full length, standalone novel.
Cole Harkin has everything he ever dreamed of. He's on top of his world when everything comes crashing down on him. He has to rebuild his whole life. He becomes a bit broken, a bit bitter, angry and a bit cynic.
Harper starts working for him, no spoilers here. And their relationship is a complicated one. They have ups and a lot of downs. Harper is my kind of heroine, she's got the patience of a saint.
Another Life is a beautiful sec

WARNING - must have Kleenex to read this book. From the opening pages to the very last chapter I was on an emotional roller coaster that made me ugly cry. A heart wrenching storyline and beautifully written characters make this book a masterpiece. This book will stay with you long after you finish it. 5 stars are not enough!! This is my first time reading K.L. Shandwick and it will not be my last.

Wow, What a story!!
I cannot put into words just how much love I have for this book. Another Life tore me to absolute shreds but also built me back up again, my emotions were all over the place both happy and sad.

KL Shandwick has put her heart and soul into this book and into putting Cole's feelings into these beautiful words to bring his story to life.

If you haven't read anything from KL Shandwick before then you are definitely missing out. This is a must read for everyone in my opinion and it

Where to start i was captivated from the first page to the last page. The amount of emotions in this book from the start is amazing. Cole's story is a must read. On full of laughter and tears. You will fall in love with him and his family. If your looking for your next book boyfriend look no further Cole will wiggle his way into your heart and not leave.

A journey of love, loss, grief and finding happiness again.

From the very beginning of this book you are caught up in the loss and heartbreaking moments, there is a slow journey to Cole finding himself again after the loss of his wife Grace and a majority of the story is about Cole dealing with his grief that spanned over six years.

Cole is a rock star who has everything, money, fame, a baby on the way and the love of his life by his side until the big C rips it all away. The fame and money and

I have to say that when I saw the cover of Another Life I thought it was incredible. They say 'never judge a book by it's cover' but in this instance I'd say you can. This incredible cover encases an incredible story that will blow you away and have you feeling all emotions. I would have read the whole book in one sitting if time allowed. This story is heartbreakingly beautiful and a definite must read.

The first word which came to mind when I read Another Life was impassioned. It is so full of intense emotions that at times it took my breath away. This is a slow burn, and there's a definite feel of one step forward, two steps back as Cole tries to come to terms with a whole new and unexpected life.

These characters are by no means perfect and there were times when I wanted to shake Cole for the decisions he made and they way he reacted. However, the choices he made, although they didn’t come ea

POV ~> First-person, Cole’s perspective.

A tattooed man stands before a dark background, carefully holding a newborn. I actually love the overall composition and title font. The author font is small and weak, though (imho). Synopsis hinted at an emotional story.

Grief does not follow one set, prescribed timeline.
Cole Harkin experienced a soul-shattering grief along with, what was meant to be, one of the most joyous days a parent can anticipate. He became withdrawn and a shell of the man he once

I don't really know what to say about this book. Other than it was an emotional ride. The story was heartbreakingly beautiful with loveable characters. The author did a wonderful job broaching some serious subjects with absolute finesse. An amazing read that I would definitely recommend.

Not sure what I can say about this Rock Star bad boy, Cole. He has gone through so much is this book, very emotional, heartbreaking and so much more. The love of his life Grace was having his baby and he honestly thought he had his HEA. This book is how he stumbled in life after every thing crashed down on him, I loved that this book was all about Cole and how he overcame so much and was able to see that life is worth living for. I hope we get to see more of Cole in future books ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You'll feel every emotion reading this. It will leave you saddened, furious, frustrated, happy and calm. Yes, all of that. It's a very thoughtful story, touching on parts of life that no one wants to have to face, but sometimes do. Very cleverly crafted, believable characters, K L has hit the spot again.

5 star review of Another Life by K.L. Shandwick

OMG where do I begin? I fell in love with this cover and when I read the blurb I knew that this was going to be an amazing read. Just how much it would impact on me I had no idea.

Another Life has taken me on a journey that I haven’t recovered from as yet; this was one heck of an emotional roller coaster of a read.

Cole Harkin is a shattered man, the best time of his life is also the worst time of his life. His grief is overwhelming, the devastation,

I was fortunate enough to read this book as it was being written. I was wrecked with angst and then lifted with happiness. This is an amazing story that is so well written I'm actually jealous that you get to read it for the first time, I wish I could again. It's no secret that I am a friend of this author but I also believe in not blowing smoke up her ass and being honest. I can honestly tell you that you will love this book. This book stole my heart, squeezed it and left me to pick up the pieces. What an amazing story. Cole had his life planned but life isn't always what you want and expect, his life changed dramatically to the point I even thought he didn't want to go on. Harper came into his life by his mother to help him out. This story is just heart wrenching and amazing at the same time. Read this book when you are in the right mind to get yourself on an emotional rollercoaster, in the end everything would've b ...more

I’m not one who ( excuse the pun) judges a book by its cover, but the gorgeous cover of Another Life is as beautiful as the story inside the covers.
If you’ve read KL Shandwick before you know she writes with a detail that grabs you , draws you in , takes you on an amazing journey and leaves you at the end with a warm hug.
It’s taken me a while to put my review together for Another Life , but this story will stay with You for a long while. Some parts are tissue required, some parts make you happy

I absolutely fell in love with this story. Bad boy Cole has already mapped out his idyllic future. There is always a bump in the road and goodness what a bump. This is a story of having to heal from grief and letting go of what you thought your future was. Harper is such a great character with her no take prisoner attitude. This author never ceases to amaze me. Just when i thought i had a fav character of hers she comes and destroys that eluded with giving more awesome characters. Def a 5 star r ...more

The story was okay but there was so much grief talking and feeling throughout most of the book that I ended up skipping most pages that were about Grace or even mentioned her. The entire book was more about grief than an actual love story. It was hard for me to get a good feel about Cole and Harper because everything that happened between the two of them always ended up about Grace. I just couldn’t get into the book like I was hoping I would. Not much sex, not really any rock star activities and ...more

Omg at 10% my heart broke, I couldn't see for the tears, life when you have it all can be so cruel.

Losing someone you love with every fiber in your being and having them taken from you is the worst thing imaginable how do you go on, how do you continue to try and be strong when the only thing you want to do is be with them.

Love and trust are all that matters, they help you to climb out of a hole that's so deep you can't see a way out.

This story cut me deep, ive never cried so hard with sorrow an

Heartache, raw emotion and new beginnings - 4.5 stars

On what should have been one of the happiest days of Cole's life, his perfect world is shattered when the unthinkable happens. Returning home he is lost, a broken shadow of the man he once was, with his baby daughter Layla his only reason to get up and breathe each day and live a life that wasnt meant to be.

This beautifully written book is a story about how someone can learn to have another life, even after the darkest days, if there is someon

KL Shandwick absolutely blew me away with this story. My heart will never be the same. “Warning “ you will need a lot of tissues while reading this book, my emotions were running all over the place I had to stop a few times while reading .... and not because I didn’t like the story but because it grabbed me so hard.

“The only thing that stood out in my memory was when the pediatric nurse placed Layla’s semi-naked body under my T-shirt, against my skin. During those few brief minutes the hurt I felt in my heart temporarily dissipated. I sighed deeply when Layla squirmed contentedly as she soaked up my warmth when I cradled her protectively against me. Then, when I felt her little heart beating close to mine through her teeny bony chest, I choked up with the indescribable distress I felt, and my tears fell” 1 likes
