This is such a fun book! The 'poem' has a specific rhythm to it that children will definitely love. The illustrations are hilarious and it's impossible not to smile when reading it. Overall, 100 Dogs is a delightful picture book that anyone can enjoy (especially dog lovers).

So funny, even as an adult. Has a really solid running cadence and pictures. This feels like the right amount of dog in my life.

100 cute and slobbery and fluffy dogs in this delightful and fun rhyming book!
I read this book in Dutch but will be writing my review in English. I had this book as a want to read for some time. It all started when there was another twitter drama even with death threats. Yes, really. Apparently the author put two dog races as bad and scary. And people were instantly throwing anger around. I can understand it somewhat the two races are seen in a negative light at times, but to do all this? Overreaction in my eyes.
Do we hear anyone about the dog that is called a mop dog (even with a bucket next to it)? Or the poor little shivering thing that is called ugly? Or the dog... well you get the idea.
I finally had the chance to read this one and I am delighted I did because this was just tons and tons of fun. We see all sorts of dogs and what they are doing. From one dressed as a fairy to another being happy to another making a mess and yet another one likes farting (at least in the Dutch version, heavens knows what it may be doing in the original). Each dog is doing something/is something and I loved how everything just rhymed and clicked together. It made the book like a bit of a song. I can just imagine reading this out loud to kids and making it a song while tapping my feet.
It was fun to see all the dogs together in the end of the book. I liked that the author decided to do this. It brought everything together and let you pick a dog.
Oh, and there is also a search for a missing doggy. Yep, a poor owner has lost his dog and he hopes someone will find it. I loved the conclusion to that.
The art was just fabulous and fun. I loved how the dogs were drawn. Cartoonish yet realistic that you can instantly recognise the dog (though I am terrible with names so for most I just went Ohhh it is that kind of doggy, how cute, and some just got names from shows as I recognised the dog from there, so I went ohhh there is Rex, or ohhh there is Samson). I loved the expressions on the doggies faces, especially some of them who were guilty of doing something naughty.
All in all, I would highly recommend this book. It is fun, playful, and it has dogs, how can you resist a book filled to the brim with dogs? Well, how can you?

The meter, the spot-on illustrations (particularly of dogs behaving badly) -- this is a total h0me run for dog families and young dog fans!

Not thrilled with the choice to portray a greyhound actually racing, as dog racing is a terrible "sport" Otherwise a cute book.

100 Dogs is a delightful celebration of all things canine! Michael Whaite’s whimsical illustrations and clever rhymes make this book a joy for children and adults alike. The vibrant, detailed artwork captures the charm and personality of every type of dog imaginable—from big to small, shaggy to sleek, and playful to sleepy.
The rhythmic text is perfect for reading aloud, keeping little ones engaged while also helping with language development. My child loves pointing out their favorite pups on each page, and every reading feels like a new adventure.
This book is not just for dog lovers; it's a fun and educational treasure that sparks creativity and joy. A must-have for any child’s library!

Bought this book for my grandson and decided to read some before posting it to him eventually I read it all as I thoroughly enjoyed it with great detail in the illustration, and the wonderful depictions of all the dog species you can possibly imagine and more.
Great rhymes as it weaves its way through an array of hilarious hounds a celebration of dogs which is bursting with funny details to spot, a book that a child will return to time and again.

Charming children's book we stumbled upon and had to have. The illustrations of many different kinds of dogs are very well done (clearly by someone who knows and loves dogs), and it's cute and clever. It's just rhymes, not a story, but you can find little stories embedded in the illustrations throughout. There's a sad dog and a lost dog, but they both have very happy resolutions (predictably, I teared up). There are also multiple Bassets throughout :)

Brilliant. Great pictures, great rhymes, entertaining and funny too! Also a 'spot the tail' task and a sub plot about a lost dog really add to it. Loved the last pages showing all the dogs interacting- especially like the pooping dog going into the winning cup.

I probably read this book about 100 times to my son before I got sick of it. The amazing thing was I didn't mind all those rereadings!
Clever, bright illustrations with details to amuse. An excellent rhythm and choice of descriptions. Just so cute, overall.

The book has beautiful pictures, lovely rhythm to the words and it's perfect for expanding your little one's vocabulary. We have both 100 Dogs and 100 Cats and the adjectives are different in each book which is great.
