An interesting and entertaining collection of letters that does what it says on the tin. A great resource for anyone interested in dipping a toe into the lives and times of the Stuart nobility and gentry, as it . covers everything from society gatherings (and drunken masques), through court gossip and political machinations, to the personal problems of the letter writers - births, deaths, debts, friendships, religious leanings, etc. The problem, as with all similar edited volumes, is that the editor has picked his favourite letters and those that he believes are most relevant. This being said, it's a great read and as good a starting place as any.
