Lisa B. Kamps is on a winning streak with book seven in the York Bombers series, PLAYING HIS PART. York Bombers defenseman, Ben Leach, marries his sister’s childhood friend, Natalie Kenney, to help protect her from her ex. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.

PLAYING HIS PART is a thought-provoking addition to the York Bombers series. Ben and Natalie have interesting reasons for entering their marriage of convenience. I like that Ben offers to help Natalie despite

FUN FACT (lol): I jumped on this story solely on the #CoverWin!! Yes, I do love sports romances, but this author is new to me so I had nothing to go on except this cover and it just sold me! And good thing too because I really enjoyed the heck out of this book!

My enjoyment of this story goes all around the story. I loved the marriage of convenience aspect of the story, especially because it benefited Natalie more than Ben. It surprised me that even tho neither of the two knew each other

I loved this book! I'm actually in the trope of fake relationships, so this was really refreshing to read about these characters!.

Wow! Right from the start I was hooked by this book! The way that it starts had me full of questions and wondering how things were going to work out. Natalie is on the run from her ex, but it is a mystery through most of the story as to what really happened. Ben is a friend of her brothers that she hasn't seen in a while. When they run into each other in Vegas and Ben makes an offer that Natalie doesn't think she can refuse.

This book definitely had me feeling lots of feels. Natalie feels so

Playing His Part is the seventh story in the York Bombers series and is just as engaging as the first story!

This is Ben and Natalie’s story. Describing Ben as “terminally miserable” isn’t far off the mark. While he is a successful hockey player, he believes happiness is something in life that he cannot attain. Natalie similarly believes she’s just destined to make poor choices, especially when it comes to men. Her latest boyfriend turns out to be all kinds of trouble.

Both Ben and Natalie are

A tiny bit unrealistic to marry that quick (maybe) but I really love a strong gal down on her luck story.
These characters are very realistic as they have very (unfortunately ) common situations in their life but the bringing them together and work that has to be put into this marriage is worth the price of book.
I've read a few of the York series and although he isn't book boyfriend----he improves (growth) the most.

I enjoyed Ben & Natalie's story. Good characters. An intriguing book. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.

A new twist on an eloped marriage of convenience. Playing His Part really kept me on the edge of my seat, not unlike Lisa's military books. This is the first book I've read in her hockey series and it can be read as a complete standalone even though it is #7 in the series. She does bring the team into the book at various points (this is a hockey team after all), and I'm sure those who have read the series will love the updates, but I didn't feel like I was missing out by not having read the ...more

Ben and Natalie were two people that knew each other when they were children, but haven't seen each other for almost a decade. When they run into each other again, she is running from her ex and he offers the one thing neither one expects. A marriage. He has his reasons for asking her, even though he truly doesn't think she will say yes. When she agrees, he doesn't think she will go through with it. He immediately starts changing, even if it is minimal.
Once they are married, neither one can

Playing His Part by Lisa B. Kamps is a York Bombers Hockey Novel but is a standalone read that will make you fall in love with the sport whether you want to or not. With a big softy of a guy hidden in the body of a gorgeous hulking brute this story is chock-full of sexual tension with some very good follow through in the way of some hot and heavy sexy scenes. Kamps tells a story about two people that are both struggling a little in their own way but if they can get past their miscommunications, ...more

This story starts out with Natalie Kenney shell shocked as she's getting married in Vegas to a hockey player named Ben Leach, which was a very last minute plan. See, she had gotten herself in a bit of trouble, and usually Ben isn't the type of man who helps anyone, but for some reason, he came up with the idea of them getting married so they did. To be fair, she's his sister's old best friend, which obviously helped some, so it wasn't a stranger, and he has a few demons that played into it. And ...more

It's not often I come across a book that leaves me sighing as I finish the last page because the story has moved me and made my heart melt. Playing His Part had me hooked from the first page and despite planning on only reading the first couple of chapters before getting some sleep, I found myself sat reading until the early hours as I kept telling myself "just one more chapter".

I don't know how, but Lisa B Kamps always makes her characters journeys relatable in some way, and I find myself

I loved this....4.5 Stars.
Ben is the grumpy, miserable member of the team who never does anything he doesn’t want to do and is rarely a team player off the ice. When it looks as if he has done something to help another person purely because he can... his teammates and their wives can’t believe it!!
But Ben has his own reasons for helping Natalie and when she finally learns what they are their whole relationship changes course completely.
Natalie just desperately wants to be loved for herself...

This book throws you into the middle of things right off the bat. At first I really didn’t like Ben. I thought he was arrogant and an ahole, other than offering to help out Natalie. But as I read on, my need to know why he was the way he was. It wasn’t until most of the way through that I actually started to like him. They may have done things a bit backwards, but these two spark a flame in one another that burns strong, though they don’t know what that entails as they navigate through

What happens in Vegas… Can lead to something amazing!

Playing His Part is the seventh book in the York Bombers series, and it is everything you would expect from Lisa B Kamps. It is a truly engaging and fun read - with great and intricate characters as well as a riveting and emotional storyline with a touch of drama and smoldering chemistry thrown in to make it an absolute page turner.

The story starts as any good story and marriage of convenience should start – in Vegas, but this marriage is

I received a copy of Playing His Part in exchange for an honest review.

After reading the first 3 books of Lisa's wonderful Cover Six Security series, it was nice to get back to her much lighter York Bombers hockey series. Natalie still brings some action into Ben's life, though. They both have their reasons for entering into an impromptu marriage that is anything but real, or is it? Natalie has a need to run, Ben's desire is to have someone there for him, and neither one can communicate very

Natalie's stuck in Las Vegas, and runs into her friend's brother, Ben, a semi-pro hockey player. They get married on a whim, and go back to his home in York, PA. And now they're not sure how to deal with the situation. Some of his teammates know he got married, so he can't pretend they aren't, at least in public. She doesn't want to be a burden, but she has no job and no money, and doesn't drive. He finally comes clean to her about why he wants to be married, but doesn't think that she'll want ...more

Ben may have a successful career on the ice with the York Bombers but the same can’t be said for his personal life off the ice. He comes across as bitter and closed off as he believes that being happy is for other people and doesn’t apply to him. A trip to Vegas combined with a marriage of convenience becomes a game changer.

When it comes to her judgment with men Natalie is being to question her choices. All she wants to do is leave her ex in the past however he doesn’t want to stay there so when

This is book 7 in The York Bombers series and it features Ben and Natalie. The beginning starts out a little short on details but the story fills you in as you read. They knew each other slightly because she was his sister’s teenage best friend. Now, years later, they ran into each other in Las Vegas and for their own separate reasons decide on an impromptu wedding. I absolutely loved the build up to Ben’s reasons for wanting to get married. His character had amazing growth from beginning to ...more

This is book #7, in The York Bombers series. This can be read as a standalone novel. For readers understanding of the series, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading them in order.

Natalie has had a few problems. Recently an ex-boyfriend who scares her to death. He and all the other problems become one big issue when she runs into the older brother of a an old friend in Las Vegas.

Ben does not even know what comes over him. He is married before he even knows what to do about it. His friends

Playing His Part had my heart aching for both Ben and Natalie. The story is heartbreaking and raw, the characters broken and hurting. I have never wanted two characters to find their way, to open up and to trust their heart to the other more than I did with these two.
Ben and Natalie each are both broken but for different reasons and in different ways. They feel undeserving of love, so believing that someone could find them lovable and worth the effort takes time, understanding and a lot of

PLAYING HIS PART is a wonderfully engaging story filled with heartbreak and joy. The story and characters drew me in from the first page.

This story centers on Ben and Natalie. It all starts when Ben, a minor league hockey player, marries Natalie in a quickie Las Vegas wedding. Ben is gruff and keeps everyone at a distance. Natalie is cautious after being hurt a few times and she doesn’t realize she is in the perfect place to heal. Everyone around her is there to help her. Natalie and Ben are

This is Ben Leach's story he is a defenseman for the team and comes across as quite grumpy when we first meet him bu he does grow on you throughout the story which in a way makes him seem more human than many book heroes he isn't the perfect alpha specimen he is totally normal He runs into Natalie Kenney when he is in Las Vegas she is an old friend of his sisters and she has got

I absolutely loved Ben & Natalie's story! Score another win in this awesome series by Lisa Kamps! Love these Bombers and their women!!
What starts off as a spur of the moment fake marriage for very different reasons, turns into an amazingly heartwarming, tender and sweet love story. But it takes a long time to get there. These two have pasts that are messing them up and definite communication issues. Ben seems to be his own worst enemy most of the time. This is not your typical romance,

First off I have to say that I really missed this series and the group of characters that are in it. The moment I started reading this book I could not put it down. I loved Natalie and Ben. They were made for each other. They were both plagued with self doubt that anyone could love them and they were both unsure as to the reasons they got married. They just fit together like puzzle pieces. When you throw in all the characters from past books, and the story line is filled with so much emotion and ...more

I just love reading about the York Bombers. Actually I just love anything and everything Lisa writes.
What I like most about this series is that the players are all very down to earth. They are either never going to
make it to the pro’s or have had a small taste and have been sent back down to the York Bombers. To me this makes them more humble.
Ben & Natalie have a marriage of convenience. Although it does take a while for Ben’s reasons to come to light.
I also liked how they ended up becoming
