This book is a little gem of coffee information to help anyone new or old to the tricks of coffee roasting. In the current world of instant coffee and pod machines that basically do all the hard work for you, it's nice to read up on the art of roasting your own. This book has everything from the birth of coffee beans to picking the right bean to the process of roasting and all the gadgetry you need to make the perfect cup of coffee.

I learned a lot while reading this book; the differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee, the bean roasting process (one pop or two?), how to roast on a budget and how to make latte's, cappuccinos, mochas and macchiatos. There's also a link to a free recipe book for ten coffee drinks to make. It also tells you about edible coffee treats and how to make latte art.

It's an informative, precise, concise book that I can see myself dipping into over and over again. There's helpful pictures throughout that compliment the info and the text is easy to read. This book has everything a coffee lover needs to know about roasting.

This little book is packed full of interesting information about coffee, from growth, production, to roasting, and drinking. There is a little bit of history, and even some recipes. It's a great, quick read for anyone that is interested in coffee, or just wants to know a little more about what's out there (and dare I say, it's perfect to read while drinking that cup of joe?) It lists all the different types of coffee and differentiates the characteristics. It was a little repetitive in the beginning, particularly where the types of coffee were listed out, then a few pages later they were listed out again with more detail. I would have preferred to get all the details about each coffee in one chunk as they came up. But all in all, an interesting read, and I gained a bit more of an appreciation for coffee, even though I am not a big coffee drinker myself.

After the recent years, when coffee became equal to Starbucks and take away, reading this was truly refreshing and inspiring. After an introduction of the history and current economic situation around coffee, the book quickly moves on for the tasty part. The explanations about the different coffee types and the “how to”s are easy to understand and focus on the practical side of how to choose your coffee and make a great drink, even if you’re a beginner and don’t necessarily want to spend fortunes on professional machines. It also gives some recipes to begin your experiments with. Just how we have the classical tea culture imported from Asia, I would be happy to see the same for coffee as well, and this pretty book feels like a great beginning. I totally award it with a front place on the shelf of my favourite cookbooks!

The perfect gift for coffee connoisseurs and novices alike.

This little book has wonderful imagery but is equally matched for information; I was surprised to discover that coffee is one of the largest economic commodities; second only to crude oil. Perry has also not forgotten to emphasise the importance of Fair Trade and has thought of everything from the history of the coffee bean to the environmental impact of industrialised coffee farming.

As a barista in the past, I did not realise that there were so many things I should have learnt! This book was full of handy little hints and tips from making latte art to creating my own personal favourite: cold coffees.

It is a wonderful book for anyone who wants to refine their coffee making skills and gain an in-depth knowledge of the plant-to-cup process.

This is a fairy quick read. Coffee is a popular drink and one that most people take for granted and don’t really think much about other than what they want added to it to make it the perfect cup. This is a very informative read from the history of coffee to how it’s harvested and then how it’s brewed. There is also information and advice for those wanting to open their own coffee shop and what they should consider. This is a really useful and informative book, if you love coffee and are in the slightest bit interested in the process and history then grab this book and get yourself your coffee, sit down, lean back and have a nice read!

As a coffee lover, I think of myself as a pretty harsh critic. I found reading this book to be fantastic. I was not aware of how much coffee impacts the world. This book is non-biased and gives a run down on the good and the bad parts about he coffee industry.

“Roasting, brewing, and more” grabs your attention right away because it has gift inside. I couldn’t wait to read the next page, and the next. I love reading informational books, but, truly, this book was very special.

Definitely great full for a book like this that teaches you about roasting, how coffee relates to our eco-system, and definitely original ways to enjoy coffee.

This is an interesting and informative book. I really enjoyed learning more about the origins of coffee, and how it has become modernized. This book is great for understanding types of beans, roasts, grinds, and brew methods. This book is great for those new to coffee, and those who have been fans for years. You can learn how to roast your own beans at home, and how to grind them. You can even learn how to grind coffee beans with a hammer. There is also a chapter on latte art, which I am super excited to start trying. This book would be a great gift for coffee lovers a like, and something interesting to have in the kitchen.

As a religious coffee drinker, I enjoyed this insightful view into the world of coffee with a mug of java close by. I learned a variety of fascinating historical facts about the coffee bean, the intricate process of how it is grown, and let’s not forget how to make the perfect cup of java. From gathering the beans to roasting your own, this book covers it all. I enjoyed each page as it brought me through the journey of what it takes to make my daily cup of coffee, from plant to mug. I would recommend this book to any coffee lover and those who are interested in learning more about the ever so popular cup of java.
