Born in 1993, HDA gained his obsession with fantasy, magic & sci-fi early in his life with the help of his parents and life long friend Joanna. Giving him the first book he ever truly read alone, Joanna set him off with a story that has inspired him even now. Lord Loss by Darren Shan. Having grown up with scotopic syndrome, and the challenges he faced with reading and processing information. Books were the one thing that HDA was able to learn and use to grow out of his need for coloured glasses and overlays on his work. Reading nightly, with many years of help from his mum, HDA admits his writing may never be perfect. A note at the beginning of all of his works, he asks his readers if they can make it past the slight errors that he alone has edited, they will be granted with the stories he, as a storyteller has crafted for them.
With more books flowing out of him daily, HDA cannot wait to spread his stories, it’s characters and their adventures with the world.

What an intriguing read! This book very much reminds me of another book I reviewed some time back called "through the psyche of Ambrosia". The narrative has almost like a child centred curiosity to it and tells the main characters point of view in the first person. Sometimes you even get slightly lost in the description of the surroundings and characters, as the main character describes what happens. In this book however not only do we have a rare first person POV, but it is completely in the present tense which is the first I've ever come across. I applaud the author for attempting this.
There is a little discrepancy over tenses in the first part of the book where sentences are structured a little problematic. I had to read these a couple of times in order to fully compute what was meant. Despite being heavy in description the book didn't drag and the story was left at an interesting place.
This book would score a 7 out of 10 in my literary scale due to its unique narrative, however it didn't score higher because I'm not a big fan on getting lost in the text.
I received a copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers only for the pleasure of reading and leaving an honest review.

I came across the Sleepless Night Creature a while ago, and when I came across it again, it was a deja vue. What a strange coincidence, I said to myself. What struck me about the book is the imagery. The author is of course talented and it seems that every scene, every particular detail is depicted with a mastery. Authors of distorted reality, or fantasy novels – such as HDA Pratt, usually write from mental images, but they also create images and vivid scenes so the reader can lose himself in the fiction, whatever it might be, a vampire story, or a romance, or both. It is just a skill that the author knows how to use it with elegance. I could not help but to notice that the characters are raw, their desires are carnal, and their thirst for flesh and blood is dreadful, yet the symbolism behind it is as simple as “humans in their natural state are prone to vice, violence, calamity and lack of moral value.” “It is in the blood.” A must read for those who enjoy “raw” in everything.

The Sleepless Night Creature reminds me of the Chronicle of the Vampires in his lore regarding vampires. The protagonist Cayden shares some characteristics similar to Lestat.
The beginning of the book I found abrupt and hard to get into. Not for a lack of trying as I found the author's writing interesting but it seemed at times that the narration and dialogue did not flow as they should. This problem seems to resolves itself about 1/3 in of the book.
While the end of the book provides more background on Cayden's own history, I would of appreciated more details about his ex lover that is so often mentioned. How did they meet, did the ex lover want to be changed, how did his death change Cayden's perspective etc.
Overall an interesting read with some kinks to be worked out!

This was a good book. It was an exciting and interesting tale. If you don’t like gore, definitely not for you. The characters were intriguing and I will most likely read the additional books in the trilogy as I would like to know the rest of the story.
My only issue with the book is that there are some very obvious grammatical errors that were missed during the proof read that distract from the flow of the book. Other than that it was a fun read.

What can I say this is the first time I've read any of hda pratts books and I am completely hooked.I was fully absorbed in the book,the detail in each page makes you feel like you are in the story,you can picture every scene in your head.I fell in love with cayden hda pratt makes you feel like you know every part of him,how he feels how he looks I can not wait for the follow up...any vampire novel fans this is a must

Well this was a surprise for an unknown author but I truly relished every word in this book! Giving just the right amount description for each scene the most drawing part of this book is it’s characters and how much more you want to know about each one once you’ve finished it. I definitely cannot wait for HDA to bring out the next instalment but while I wait I shall read his other series.
If magic is what you are into, this writer seems to have all of it and more bound in this book. Not your typical vampire novel, HDA has seemed to have brought the best parts of a vampire and mixed it with his own curious imagination to bring it alive!
