Hunters are a special breed, dedicated to tracking down treasures, magical beasts, and even other men. But such pursuits require a license, and less than one in a hundred thousand can pass the grueling qualification exam. Those who do pass gain access to restricted areas, amazing stores of information, and the right to call themselves Hunters.

NEXT STOP: METEOR CITY--THE JUNKYARD OF THE WORLD
Gon, Killua, Leorio and Kurapika are finally reunited. Kurapika tells the gang that he made a Nen covenant to strengthen his ability by setting limits on it--all for the bargain price of his own death if he ever uses Chain Jail against anyone who's not a Spider. Meanwhile, the Mafia is researching the members of the mysterious and deadly Troupe, but even the most foolproof database contains no information on them. But there's only one place where goons can avoid registration: Meteor City, the junkyard of the world!

The fight between Zeno and Silva Zoldyck versus Chrollo Lucilfer, not a very long fight but wow! We can definitely see how high caliber all three of them were. I always loved how they're good at detailing and analyzing their opponent's abilities in their head while still fighting at the same time. I now understand that HxH has no power levels when it comes to the characters. It all comes down to wit and strategies on how to efficiently handle their Nen abilities. As to the question of who would win between one-on-one fight with Chrollo and Zeno, no one would know until it actually happened.

There was also the surprising appearance of Illumi, Kalluto and Maha after killing the Ten Dons. Though it was crazy on how the Zoldyck's assassin business works, their professionalism, especially Zeno's, gained my respect. On the other hand, I know Killua's older brother Illumi would always be creepy but I would admit I liked him. Kind of. I admire his abilities as a Nen user and how confidently and straightforwardly he handles his opponent. For now, I'll just forget on how he mentally and emotionally tortured Killua because that single fact is the reason why I can't fully like him.

After hearing Chrollo's *fake* death, and other five Phantom Troupe members, Kurapika didn't believed it at first, not until he saw the *fake* corpses. His eyes looked so empty and you can feel the void in his heart. Who wouldn't be, if you learned that the people you're determined to track down and kill for revenge after killing your whole clan were all dead and you had nothing to do with it. It was like he lost half of his purpose in life. I hated seeing the depressed Kurapika, it was making me depressed, too.

But then, after all that, the gang was now complete for the first time in a while! Thanks to Gon and Killua's playfulness, Kurapika was able to sincerely smile even after what happened with the Spiders. He refused to help Gon and Killua learn Nen through him though because it was dangerous as his Nen was created for revenge and it would not help the kids. He also able to explain some extent of his abilities, the status of his condition and pledge that made his Nen stronger.

I can't wait for the next volume as we're going to see the gang's journey against the Phantom Troupe continues to unravel.

PS. Chrollo with his hair down is a sight to behold!

The chapter names are so boring. *sigh* The name of this volume isn't great either: Next Stop: Meteor City—The Junkyard of the World
Anyway, chapter-wise breakdown and detailed review here:

Chapter 94. September 3rd: Part 10
The boys escape Nobunaga and Killua, through his fine powers of deduction, figures out that Kurapika is the chain-user and the two of them decide to go to him to learn how he improved his nen-abilities in such short a time.
Elsewhere, Neon runs away from her bodyguards so she could attend the auction on her own. I don't like this bratty side of hers but I guess this helps build the plot and get some action going.

Chapter 95. September 3rd: Part 11
The mafia-hired assassins, including the two Zoldyk men, have a meeting of sorts. Kurapika attends this meeting with Light Nostrade and soon after that, the two get a phone call from Melody and Basho that Neon had run away from them.
Elsewhere, we see Chrollo, the Phantom Leader, helping Neon enter the auction. It is quite clear that the man has ulterior motives. I just really want to know his abilities. The head Spider is bound to have some special power after all.

Chapter 96. September 3rd: Part 12
Chrollo makes Neon tell his fortune and the two talk about her ability for a while. I skimmed over most of it tbh. The fortune is told in verse form and sounds poetic instead of straight forward so I doubt it would be clear to the readers even if they did pay attention. Things will be revealed later on, I'm assuming.
As Chrollo and Neon get moving again, Chrollo suddenly renders Neon unconscious with a well placed hit and asks the nearby bodyguards to call for an ambulance, revealing that the girl is Nostrade's daughter and hence, an important person. Chrollo's motive is unclear at this point. Light and Kurapika soon reach the premises and are taken to the room where Neon is asleep until the ambulance arrives. Chrollo is nowhere to be seen.
Elsewhere, Chrollo calls his Troupe members to come to the building and on their way, make a show of massacring all the mafia guards and make it dramatic instead of just quick and efficient. Nothing makes sense to me -none of Chrollo's motives, I mean.

Chapter 97. September 3rd: Part 13
The Spiders carry out Chrollo's orders and there's a lot of mindless mayhem. We get to see some of their powers though and I was blown away by the cool abilities some of them have.
Kurapika receives a phone call from Gon and Killua, updating him about their recent adventures and angering him a little at their needless risk-taking habits. Why does he have to be such a buzzkill mommy sometimes? *sigh*

Chapter 98. September 3rd: Part 14
Silva and Zeno Zoldyck finally face off against Chrollo. Silva warns Grandpa Zeno that Chrollo has the ability to steal other people's powers and that was a little disappointing for me. Not a very original power. *sigh*
Anyway, the Zoldycks are strong as one would expect but so is Chrollo and the fight is picking up pace.

Chapter 99. September 3rd: Part 15
Grandpa Zeno has dragon powers and his attacks have names like Dragon Head, Dragon Lance etc. and it is soooo cool. The end of the chapter shows Zeno yelling for Silva to attack and the attack in question is impressive for sure.

Chapter 100. September 3rd: Part 16
There is an announcement throughout the building that the leader of the Phantom Troupe is dead which lines up with Silva's attack and yet, something feels off. It can't be that easy to defeat Chrollo. And this is proved soon after.
There were apparently two plans afoot. Illumi calls Silva and informs him that he was apparently hired by Chrollo to kill the Ten Dons and the Ten Dons in turn had hired Silva and Zeno to kill Chrollo. And since Illumi finished his task first and killed the people who would have paid Silva and Zeno for the assignment, there was no reason for them to kill Chrollo anymore and the fight came to a halt with no one seriously harmed. I loved how diabolical this all was. Impressive way to mark the 100th chapter of the manga.

Chapter 101. September 3rd: Part 17
The Zoldycks leave the premises and Chrollo is still alive and yet, he has somehow left a corpse behind that looks exactly like him and successfully faked his own death. Even Kurapika is fooled into believing it. There are bodies of other Troupe members there too. Kurapika walks away from the scene and goes to bid on the Scarlet Eyes of the Kurta Clan instead, as per Light Nostrade's orders.

Chapter 102. September 4th: Part 1
We learn about Meteor City and its residents, all of whom are people who have no official records and are more like ghosts in society with no official trace anywhere. Most criminals and all the Troupe members come from Meteor City as it turns out.
Chrollo and the other Spiders plan to leave Yorknew City soon after the auction but Nobunaga is adamant that he won't leave until he avenges Uvogin's death by killing the Chain-User.
Elsewhere, the Chain-user a.k.a. Kurapika finally meets Gon and Killua, now that he believes the leader of the Phantom Troupe is dead.

Chapter 103. September 4th: Part 2
Kurapika tells Gon and the others about his nen-contract and its restrictions when they all ask him how he defeated Uvogin. But now that they know everything, Killua is worried that if they ever run into the Troupe member who can read memories through touch, they'll be in trouble.

Aaaand that's how the volume ends. Fine, not great. I have mixed feelings.

Really loved how Gon and Kil made their escape in this one, through making use of the knowledge they learned from someone who previously had a career as a counterfeiter XD

I'm pretty intrigued by the whole "fake bodies" thing too, and curious how the managed to pull that one off, but it's definitely given them the advantage if anyone tries to come after them... like say... Kurapika and co. 8'D

kurapika finally picked up his phone omg took him long enough, also "Dear uvo, can you hear this? We dedicate this requiem to you" had me freaking out because it's just one of the most dramatic scenes in this whole series, I could hear the absolutely epic anime soundtrack in my head while reading and omg I almost cried. HxH is just EVERYTHING. Also, Chrollo with his hair down is so fiiiiiiine, and his "nen fish" are majestic. Just the whole requiem scene and Chrollo standing in front of this window omg goosebumps. ALSO, epic fight between Chrollo, Zeno and Silva, the Zoldycks are just built different, no wonder Killua is a fucking badass. And then Kurapika Leorio Gon Killua reunion, FINALLY omg I've been waiting for this and then Kurapika finally opening up to the others, yesssss Kurapika! Love them all so much! Now I have to take a break from reading because it's so INTENSE and since I've seen the anime I know that it's only gonna get worse ahahah. Not ready. This review is kind of a mess but so am I after reading this volume addfgwuebe9wowsh8!!!

Zeni and Silva vs Chrollo? What else could you possibly ask for other than an actual end to the flight. I knew it was coming but was still bummed that they didn't finish the fight.

This was definitely one of my favorites so far. From cover to cover, it's teeming with action, suspense, and drama. Even though I already know what's going to happen, the cliffhangers are gut wrenching. Knowing how much of a wildcard Hisoka is and not being sure who's side he was on at this point would have been cruel to live through.

While I need to keep working on my next novel, I'm very tempted to drive straight into book 12 tonight without stopping.

Hunter x Hunter simplemente no falla.

FIRST OF ALL THIS ARC IS HYPED 🔥

*Chrollo and the Phantom Troupe's requiem for Uvogin will always be ICONIC 💯

*Chrollo vs the Zoldycks - one aspect of HxH that I appreciate a lot is its power system (or lack thereof) because it all comes down to one's utilization of his/her skills and abilities and awareness and understanding of their pros and cons (including those of their opponents). That and battle IQ and experience! This fight between these seasoned killers is a good showcase of that 🙇‍♀️

*"We'll accept anything you leave here... but don't ever take anything away from us."

"Their bonds are thinner than water, and yet thicker than blood."

METEOR CITY. This is really intriguing. There's a lot more to the PT for sure.

*"I'm so happy for you! Now that the Spiders are dead, you can focus on what you really wanted to do! You have to go find the eyes of your people!"

Gon knows what's truly important 🥺 It's heartwarming to see our 4 MCs back together 💝

This volume was certainly action packed, I enjoyed every second of it. I'm really happy for Kurapika's development as a character. He genuinely has progressed. He told his friends the secret behind his nen and properly opened up to them. I'm so proud of him. I really like Chrollo's power as well as Neon's. I guess in general, the power of specialists really attracts me. They are so unique and the fact that they are impossible to achieve simply makes them more valuable to me. I like seeing Chrollo's powers in action, and these fights provide us with an insight on that.
I really enjoyed the Gon and Killua moments that were present in this volume, especially towards the beginning were Killua was blushing as Gon stated that he was returning to his old self, and that he is the one that's cautious, meanwhile Gon himself is the reckless one.
The end of this arc is closing in, and although I wish we could keep seeing these character interactions and intense fights, the next arc is just as interesting, and I've always enjoyed how this arc isn't drawn out or too short, it maintains a perfect length in my opinion.

This volume starts out as a clever escape, followed by rising tension straight out of a thriller, and then a bombastic climax of cringe-inducing violence. I was hooked the entire time thanks to a healthy dose of dramatic irony and a well-paced flow of events. And then when the action finally kicks off it's this gruesome spectacle fueled by an array of unimaginably creative powers. I was hooked. The entire sequence was a perfectly executed thriller.

I'm a bit bummed that it kind of ends in an anti-climax. This seemed like the perfect time to wrap up the arc with a big win for the spiders, but I'll give the coming confrontation the benefit of the doubt.

Honestly I took too long reading this one, and I'm pretty sure it's affected this review for the worse. Still, it didn't have the power to draw me back and compel attention...This volume sees the resolution of the Troupe vs. whichever-people-the-Dons-hired-last. And, honestly, I'm not entirely sure exactly what happened. It felt like it took a weird unexplained jump about 2/3 of the way through the book. Ah well. I'm still enjoying the series and concept enough that I'll push on.

I'm reading HxH right now for two reasons: This is more wholesome than watching the anime again and it buys time for more issues to come out (Togashi is notorious for going on long hiatuses). That said, I have read the beginning of the Dark Continent Expedition Arc, so I have a hint on what's coming.

I bring this up because I know has much more to come. And this volume is a big chunk of what you're going to get for a long while, so savor it. As for the juicy Vol. 11:

- The mob hires assassins to take down the Phantom Troupe, Killua's father and grandfather included (oh, and Kurpika). It's nice to see the Zoldyks in action as you think, "What is Killua going to become if these are his relatives?" Throughout the series, Togashi does a great job of balancing characters going through early training while showing off high-class Nen users. It makes the journey of our heroes all the more rewarding.

- I haven't really mentioned Neon because she's not all that interesting. Her Nen power, however, is of consequence and it's fully revealed in this volume: She writes ominous poems that dictate the future. The handsome leader of the Phantom Troupe befriends her, but only to steal her power. Speaking of...

- Chrollo is among the most fascinating characters in this entire manga. He's a romantic, he's confident and his abilities are so, so clever. During his fight with Silva and Zeno, you get just a taste - the book, the page turning, the random assortment of powers. The dude is stacked. You can see why Hisoka wants a piece of him.

- We're still relatively early in HxH, and the Phantom Troupe is about as nasty as enemies come. None of our heroes are ready for them, save for Kurapika. Their all-out murderfest is something to behold. Enjoy learning about their powers and their savagery.

- Kuripika finally does the FRIENDLY thing and reunites with the boys. And he reveals the source of his ridiculous Nen power, which is genius and entirely plausible. Even the best Nen users have damning weakness, as we'll see later. That moment where he witnesses Gon and Killua spatting is one of the small heartwarming bits that make this manga special.
