That story was kind of lacking. I did like when they were misunderstanding each other because of the sounds of the waves, that was cute. But the rest of the book was just kind of meh. I'm also not a huge fan of animals acting in such unrealistic ways, although I guess that book does have merpeople so I shouldn't expect it to be accurate haha.

The little girl and her brother are friends with a mini mermaid. The mermaid has a cousin who is a show off who doesn't listen, and then he gets stuck in some seaweed. Then some turtles magically show up and make a bridge so the little girl and her brother can walk on water.

I read this to Julianna tonight. I picked the book because she likes Pinkalicious books and it had mermaids in it. Julianna gives the book a 5 and liked Pinkalicious & the minimermaids the best.

Pinkalicious visits the beach with Peter and meets her friends the Merminnies. Here, Aqua introduces them to Splash, who can do all kinds of tricks. Splash has the help of a turtle and a whale named Tiny, but one trick leaves him stuck in the seaweed. He needs help getting out and the turtles make a path for Pinkalicious and Peter. What a fun day at the beach!

PINKALICIOUS AND THE MERMINNIES is about friendship and a fun day at the beach. I like that merminnies are miniature mermaids. They're so cute! Splash is comical with his tricks since he messes up but pretends nothing happens. Emerging readers will enjoy this fun summer read with their favorite character, Pinkalicious. The sentences are short and easy for new readers to follow and understand.


Final Verdict: I would recommend this to emerging readers who like summer reads, beach days, mermaids, water fun, and Pinkalicious.

Pinkalicious books are so fun for little girls. I loved that I found a book that involved mermaids for my kids while we were learning about the ocean. My kids really liked this book and the amazing colorful illustrations though out the book. I liked that most of the pages were full of an illustrations. This story is really cute and short perfect for new readers. The story-line is adorable and really cute its perfect book for little kids. This book was really easy to read aloud to kids but I think this book is better for a kid learning how to read with how simple the story-line is and how simple the wording is.
