If at first you don't succeed, keep going down the list...
Addison: I need you to know I’m not pathetic. A little desperate, sure. But not pathetic. And mostly I agreed to Jessa’s insane boyfriend-finding list idea because Carter was looking at me like it was the stupidest idea known to man, and I wanted to irk him.
Carter: Jessa’s guy-finding list is the stupidest idea known to man. The only reason Addison doesn’t have a boyfriend is because she’s the boss’s daughter, and none of the guys in our shop want to be fired.
Addison: Maybe if he hadn’t kissed me last weekend, I wouldn’t be thinking about him constantly. See there? This is his fault. If I need to use a list to find someone who will get him out of my head, then so be it.
Carter: Maybe if I hadn’t kissed her last weekend, the list wouldn’t bother me so much, but now I can’t get her out of my head. So I’m going to do the only thing a sane guy would do in my position. I’m going to sabotage the experiment…
Author’s note: 27 Ways to Find a Boyfriend is a steamy-clean adult romantic comedy with all the sizzle but no sex.

4.5 I really enjoyed this one, cute and swoony. I liked the characters and overall storyline. I thought Addison's dad was a pain, but you gotta have some conflict, right? Overall, a fun read. Full review to come.
I had so much fun reading this book. It made me happy! The back and forth between Addison and Carter felt tangible and made my tummy flutter. I loved the dual perspectives which really helped me connect with both characters in an intimate way.
Carter and Addison have known each other for a long time. Carter's sister is Addison's best friend. Addison has been crushing on Carter for as long as she can remember and when he kisses her at a wedding, everything shifts for both of them. But poor Carter knows that Addison's dad is crazy when it comes to her dating. If he tries to date Addison, he will lose his job. Poor Carter is so tortured.
There are so many amusing situations in this book and boy, do I love to be amused. There isn't anything terribly deep or trumatic which kept everything light and fun. I loved how good it all felt. 😍

- I own my own copy of this book. This book is on KU!
Holy wowzers! Can I just tell you how much I adored this book?! Once I started it, I had an extremely hard time putting it down. I may or may not have been irrationally angry when I had to go to work instead of staying home and reading all day. I love when a book captivates me like this one did.
I absolutely loved Addison and Carter! The chemistry between these two was sizzling and I couldn't help shipping them from the very beginning. They had a lot of obstacles that most couples wouldn't have, but once they realized what they wanted, they weren't going to let anyone stop them from being happy.
The feels were definitely real my friends. I found myself laughing out loud, holding my breathe in anticipation, growling in frustration and letting out little dreamy sighs throughout the book. I honestly did not want the book to end!
I really enjoyed all the side characters as well. Jessa was hilarious and an amazing best friend. Some of the scenes with Gio and Heath were pretty funny albeit a little awkward for our sweet Addison. Have a mentioned that I laughed out loud several times? But can I just tell you how much Addison's dad got on my nerves?! Ugh! Men! Haha.
This was a great start to a new fun series! I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series being released. I have already preordered it without even reading the synopsis. I'm choosing to be adventurous! (Do you see what I did there?! 😉 Hehe.)
This is my very first book by Ms. Tapscott and I'll be checking out more of her books. Any author who can grab and keep my attention from the very first page is a for sure winner in my book.
And can we take just a minute to admire these two?! I think they make the perfect Addison and Carter! What do you think?
Steamy clean romantic comedies are my favorite and guess what? I've found a new-to-me author who writes them! I laughed; I swooned; and I wished on a star that things would work out just the way I wanted them to. And guess what again? There were a few twists that I didn't expect, which made it all the more fun to read.
Addison is finally ready to find someone after her best friend, Jessa, gets married and produces a list of ways to find a man. Of course, Jessa's brother, Carter, thinks it's stupid, but things start getting pretty interesting when he takes a vested interest in the items on said list. The family dynamics were both fun and heartbreaking, but it was the sizzling sparks that caught my heart on fire. I loved the alternating points of view and eagerly awaited each switch to see what the other one was thinking.
This is just the kind of book that I could visualize as a movie playing out in my mind while I was reading it. I adored every single character and loved the way everything was woven together to make a deliciously beautiful story that made me laugh out loud multiple times. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'm clearing my calendar for the day when the next book is released.
Content: mild+ steamy clean romance (kissing, some innuendo)
*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.*
This book is my definition of rom-com perfection!! Funny, swoony, toe-curling moments, and just the right amount of tension and steam, all while remaining clean! I finished this in one day, while I was in and out of consciousness with the flu. Couldn’t stop (unless sickness-induced sleep took over)!
I loved every second of it! Such a fun romantic comedy! Definitely recommend.
I loved this book from beginning to end. It’s the kind of story that would make the best romantic comedy movie! It gave me all the feels...I would be laughing one moment, smiling or smirking the next, and totally enjoying the chemistry and banter between Addison and Carter. They were such a great pair and I liked that we got the POV of both of them throughout the book. The story is about Addison, who’s had a crush on Carter for forever, but she can’t date him because she and Carter work for her dad, who has a rule about no fraternizing between colleagues. Addison’s best friend, who happens to be Carter’s sister, decides to help Addison in the dating world and makes up a list of how to get a boyfriend. Lots of cute, funny, and swoon worthy moments make up the rest of the story. :) Definitely a super cute, fun, and clean summer read!
What a fun book! This came highly recommended and I am so happy I got it on kindle unlimited. This book had some awesome tension and was actually believable. For the first sentence you got right into Addision's head. I loved that you got a feel of her personality and who she was right off. You knew a lot about these two without being told much or a long back story. It was perfect. Carter was not very likable till you got into his head and then man, this book was just a happy escape. You know how in books that author tries to build tension by having them get close and then get pulled apart. It will drive me to put a book down if an author does that too many time in this book it worked. It just made the tension mount! This is chaste, with no talk of religion. Some kissing, I would let my teen read this for sure.
This is my favorite clean romcom of all time! It ticks every box for me and has lots of amazing chemistry but no sexual content. It's just plain fun! Fast paced and never hit a dull moment for me.
This was such a cute book!!! I loved the set up for this book and was so excited to read it. I’m a sucker for the friends to lovers trope, especially when you add in the best friend’s brother angle or brother’s best friend! And then the LIST. It was just a perfect thing to make the story around!
Addison was so relatable and the things that happened to her in this book had me laughing so much! I loved the atmosphere of the car shop her Dad owns and all the guys who work there and her role in it. Her best friend Jessa and her new husband Franklin were also great additions. They reminded me of my newly married best friend and her husband so it was just perfect. (If only I had a Carter in my real life too....) Addison’s Dad really irritated me though and I was really worried he was never going to come around. 🤦🏼♀️ I wish I could have gotten just a little bit more from him in the end.
Getting Carter’s perspective was awesome! I love getting the guy’s perspective and seeing their thoughts and feelings at the same time as the girl’s, it really makes a story more satisfying to me. And I mean Carter was just 😍😍😍😍😍 He was the epitome of what a book boyfriend needs to be. He handed out all the swoon let me tell ya!
Anyway! I loved everything about this book! The GTO, the Ferris Wheel, Cocoa, cooking class, broken tailbones... etc. Hahaha!!! It has definitely earned a spot in my favorites list! 😊 And Shari L. Tapscott has earned herself a spot on my must read author list too!
-‘this list thing just doesn’t sit right with me‘-
I love how this talented author can write in so many different styles. Personally, these contemporary style stories of hers are my favourites. I loved the chemistry between the characters. The plot was really fun and different, the characters were strong and engaging. The humour kept me interested and laughing. I’m sure I will be reading this one again and again. I highly recommend it. I preordered it weeks before the release date and I’m so glad I did. It was definitely worth it. I received a complimentary advanced copy from the author but I loved it so much I bought it outright too. It’s a great book.
This book was fantastic! It had all the dreamy sighs and romantic comedy giggles of a clean and fun romance. I really like first person perspective, and the way the author switched from Addison to Carter, the two protagonists, in first person with every chapter was brilliant. There were so many toe-curling moments and goodness Carter made for a swoony hero! Addison was spunky and sweet, and I loved how down to earth she was. Definitely a book I’ll read again and I’m really looking forward to the next one in this series!!
Fabulous! This was exactly the light-hearted, swoony read I was looking for. Loved the characters’ voices, laughed out loud so many times, loved that the characters laughed at themselves and each other, and loved that the relationship between these two was based on more than just physical attraction. Kept bracing myself for some kind of cliched misunderstanding, but it never eventuates. The tension here was MUCH better than that.
Off to stalk the author on social media and find all her other books!
This was so so good! I admit these kind of covers throw me off but don't let this one put you off from reading it.
Addison's best friend sorts her a list of 27 ways to find a boyfriend so she starts ticking things off the list but ends up 'practicing' said ways on her best friend's brother Carter. Fun and games except she's secretly been pining for him for years. Carter makes the decision to sabotage her experiment. Everything would be a lot easier if they hadn't kissed a week prior to all of this.
I was so pleasantly surprised by this. It was so fast paced and filled with oozing tension. I love love love forbidden love and it was PERFECT in this. The way everything panned out is just how I liked it. Carter just increased my standards even more, I love that man. Am I regretful that I didn't savour this? No, not really.
Super cute chick lit. Addison and Carter are the MCs and they are adorable characters. Carter works for Addison’s dad as a mechanic of classic cars. Addison works there too and has had a crush on him for as long as she can remember. But her dad’s rule for all the guys who work for him is to leave his daughter alone…or they’re gone. Carter has the chance of a life time to work on a celebrity’s fancy car restoration, but his growing feelings for Addison as she starts working on her list to get a guy threatens all his dreams. Yet, he can’t stand to sit by and watch her attract the wrong guys to her as she tries to act helpless. It’s a fun forbidden romance trope with lots of sizzle and witty dialogue that kept me turning the pages to get to the ending.
This was given to me by a dear friend and I absolutely loved it. I'm so glad she gave it to me because I probably wouldn't have picked it up just because of the title. My kids made fun of me for weeks as it sat on my dresser waiting to be read🤣. They thought it was a"self help" book and we're concerned for their dad😳🤦♀️🤣. Ha ha ha. But it was worth the teasing because it was so cute! A fun, light, quick, swoony, read and I enjoyed every page! Thank you Kathy!!!
The two main characters were mostly fine. Addison’s reaction to the amusement park has me thinking she is the human equivalent of a sedan, but other than that, it was good.
I agree that given the lack of drama between the main characters (refreshing, actually), the story was a little long. I think the dramatic moment was supposed to be Addison’s father finding out and overcoming that barrier.
(Spoiler!)
Addison’s father, as a character, is an awful human. (As to whether he is meant to be, or if that’s just poor writing, is up to the reader.) He’s incredibly controlling—his wife, his daughter, his employees. He’s blocked Addison from dating, and tries to force her to go on dates with men he chooses. He fired Carter for dating Addison, and when Addison quit instead, he tried to prevent her from getting another job. He continued to look for reasons to fire Carter. And only relented when his behavior would mean the two of them moving across the country. (Which, hello, they obviously should get the f out of dodge, /Gary/ is obviously mental)
These are not the actions of a loving father. This level of controlling behavior is borderline-abuse. I honestly would classify it as outright abuse, but I don’t think the author intends for it to be taken that way. It’s also compounded by how Lydia is basically a silent doormat who lets him do as he pleases. Your past experiences do not allow you to dictate what your adult child does and does not do.
What makes it frustrating is that no one bothers to confront him for his psycho behavior. Addison kinda comes close—AT THE VERY END, WHEN HE HAS BEEN TORMENTING CARTER FOR SIX MONTHS—but then immediately ruins it by relenting to stay and come back to the shop instead of moving away like a functional adult. Hahahaha, putting a daughter back under her father’s financial control is so funny and cute, hahahaha. Not.
All I’m saying is that if these were real people and I was Addison’s friend (side note—does she have any friends besides Jessa? Can you say red flag? Did Gary not approve?) and she told me she was going back to her father’s shop? All bets would be off. This isn’t a healthy father-daughter relationship, and it’s important for readers to realize that.
Nice, fluffy, very low on angst. Well-written. Recommended if you need something light to cheer you up.
MTA: Just as enjoyable the second time around. I really liked the dynamics of the central relationship. The only person straight from a nightmare is Addison's father. Still, the book is worth reading and rereading.
MTA: A lovely read. Just what I needed. I still found that one aspect incredibly irritating, but loved the book nonetheless.
"The flippant exchange makes my pulse skitter like a squirrel on caffeine."
Hilarious. Outrageous. Embarrassing. Exciting. Swoony. Sometimes frustrating. The flutters in my tummy were better than any roller coaster ride. The relationship between Carter and Addison is as realistic as it is adorable. Their witty banter was so enjoyable to read. I loved some of the ways to find a boyfriend. They could make great date ideas! I did have a problem with the relationship between Addison and her father. He is such a stickler and jerk, then suddenly shifts in the end. Without any real remorse for his previous behavior!?! What the heck. On a steaminess level I would rate this a hot PG-13. There isn’t any fading to black, but things get awfully close.
I really enjoyed this one. It was hilarious and I loved Addison’s sense of humor. The father was annoying more often than not but I liked how Addison was finally able to stand up to her father while remaining respectful and kind. Carter was adorable. He and Addison made a sweet couple and I really enjoyed their banters and the overall progression of their relationship. I’m so happy the conflict was external and not between the two main characters.
I must say I thought they both handled the situation with Addison’s dad pretty well so the plot as well as the ending was believable and cute. Light, fun & fluffy.
Addison's best friend Jessa, who just got married, has come up with a list of 27 ways to get a guy to help Addison out. Jessa's brother Carter has memorized the list and is determined to sabotage its success. Carter and Addison both work for Addison's dad and her dad has a strict "no fraternizing with other employees" rule in place - which is the only reason Carter hasn't made his move on Addison long before now. Addison and Carter have great chemistry! I loved Addison, Carter and Jessa - but I never did warm up to Addison's dad.
As I watch her prepare, my eyes slide over the full tables. There are so many couples here. People I’ve known all my life are married now, as are many of Jessa’s cousins. Now that I’m nearing my mid-twenties, it feels like I’m quickly becoming the minority. People I went to high school with are in serious relations, many promising forever and having babies, and I don’t even have a boyfriend.
I’m barely out of my seat when Carter catches my arm and grins up at me. “You want out of it?” “Well, yeah.” I rolled my eyes. “But-” “Sorry, Jessa,” Carter calls out, making sure everyone in the barn hears him. He then clasps me around the middle and pulls me onto his lap. “Addison is busy.” Then he tips me back and kisses me square on the lips. Cinnamon gum-that’s what Carter smells like. By the time I process that, the quiet of the ranch is being polluted by a cacophony of cat-calls, wolf whistles, and good, old-fashioned applause. I blink at our audience, half in a daze. My brain is so addled, I register details one at a time. First, I’m still on Carter’s lap, and hello, i like it here. Second, his hands are still around my waist, and yep, I like that too. Third, Jessa is currently scowling at her brother, looking like she’s going to whack him over the head with her ultra-trendy succulent bouquet. “Let go of my best friend, Carter,” she commands. “Sorry,” he whispers before he releases me, an unrepentant smirk on his face. “I tried.”
No surprise, Isaac ignores me. “So your sister’s list has some of the guys thinking.” “Because I need to see what I’m working with as soon as I’m done with this Charger. I’m worried it’s gonna be pretty rusted out.” “We’re wondering if it would be worth Gary’s wrath to make a move, Isaac continues, just asking to be punched. “Addison’s obviously looking for a guy, and why shouldn’t it be one of us?” I clench my fist around a wrench and look up. “No one’s ‘making a move’ on Addison.” Isaac grins. “No one except for you, that is?”
I had fun reading this book. So cute and swoony. A clean, funny, mild-steamy, romantic comedy. This book gave me butterflies in my tummy. I love the dual perspectives. I love how Carter got jealous between the other guys and was trying to sabotage the experiment. Addison was funny and relatable. Highly recommended this book for a summer read. 4.5 stars.
This light hearted, clean romance was exactly the kind of book I was in the mood for!
The romance in this was fun and cute and (mostly) drama-free. I also loved their friendship and the hilarious scenes that came from the list. I loved the main character too!
I took a star off because of the Dad. He was the main conflict in the relationship which was slightly annoying but that's how these books are usually. I did like how the ending handled the situation at first, but then the very end did a one eighty with it. The change in the Dad seemed unrealistic and the way the main character's just accepted his behavior and continued the way things were seemed unhealthy to me.
I couldn't give it five stars after that, though my enjoyment of the book was very high. I will definitely be checking out more books by this author.
