About the author

Catherine Anholt and her husband Laurence Anholt are a husband-and-wife team who have worked together on more than 60 picture books, published all over the world in more than 17 different languages. Their picture books – including the Chimp and Zee series – have won numerous awards and have been featured on television and radio. Catherine grew up in the Cotswolds as one of a family of eight. After a brief nursing career, she found her true vocation as an artist at Falmouth Art School, leaving to take an MA at the Royal College of Art in London.

A Mistake on the animal counting page ruins this book for me. The text reads "6 owls with towels" but the illustration shows owls with scarves. Did the illustrator just not 'get' it? Scarf doesn't rhyme with owl does it. BOOOO.

Still we have kept this book as apart from that this is a great read, fun, enjoyable and nicely drawn.

This counting book gives children lots of items to count, but it's not overwhelming, focusing on just 1-10. Some items are labeled with the number, and for some we're on our own. Items include everyday objects and are pictured with pencil and watercolor. A good fit for toddlers.
