The wonder of Scarry’s existence in how busy they are. Scarry knew this. I want to believe he came from the city. Animals going which way and another. Moving about. Creating zoo-like thrills. In colors. In actions. Taking in every single page with illustrations is a real treat.

A big lesson on learning your lesson and what happens if you don’t. History repeats itself, but we can always make it repeat less.

This is one of those classic Richard Scarry books where it will most definitely take an adult reader only a few seconds to get from cover to cover. As such it is a perfect book for children, especially younger readers who may struggle with keeping their attention focused on a book for too long.

The writing is plain, pure and simple while each page only has a few words. Even with the lack of words the story gets straight from Point A to Point B while not missing a single beat nor leaving anything to the imagination.

In the end, though, the best part is always the characters that Richard Scarry has come up with. They are clear, brightly colored, detailed and easy yet simple to love such as the snake who seems to be helping with the cane but more than likely isn't or even that rascally raccoon who continues around his job as the others try to save Mr. Rabbit. There just really isn't much character nostalgia like Scarry characters.

And the beautiful continuity of the lesson not being learned and forgetting what is happening off page will delight many new readers with the surprise twist.

This is definitely one book I would love to share with young children some day just to see how they respond to Scarry's animal characters in this time and age. And perhaps just maybe convince them to love them as much as I did when I was young.

Humorous book for toddlers. Also good for kids who are learning English as a second language.

Richard Scarry's works are always very detailed and professional. That being said, this one was also entertaining and fun!

Me gustó aunque no sería mi favorito. Es muy simple porque es para un lector que se inicia, pero como siempre, con las maravillosas ilustraciones de Scarry y su humor muy apto para los niños.

I bought this for my daughter when she was learning to read. Of the many books that I bought, she liked this one the best as it is catchy and the story is good and therefore memorable. I would recommend it to anyone learning to read.

Step into Reading Step 1 Ready to Read

I love all the things that can be named in Richard Scarry's illustrations. There's so much to see and yet it is presented on a nice clean background so that each bit can be explored separately.

Richard Scarry produces another great early reader. Our son is not reading yet, but this will be a great starter when he does. A favorite in 2010 for our 3 year old.

I will give this book 5 stars. All the usual Scarry characters (lowly worm, hilda hippo, and so on). A cute story about a rabbit who didn't watch where he was going.
