Everyone knows that Porsche is not just a car, it is a state of mind; and Frank Orel’s large-format Porsche photo book is drenched in it. From race cars to exotic design prototypes, the range of vehicles that all share the Stuttgart manufacturers insignia are as broad as they are intense and Orel’s book captures that perfectly.

With categories ranging from power to design and with a particular emphasis on racing, The Porsche Book is the perfect gift for the Porsche enthusiast that wants to reach beyond factory street models and into the world of one-of-a-kind editions that most of the world will never see on the road. Being based in Stuttgart, Germany clearly gives Orel a distinct advantage with his access and purview into the inner-workings of one of the most respected automakers on the planet and this book is the byproduct of that relationship.

With a massive amount of huge, clean, powerful, double-truck photos, the book aptly captures the excitement surrounding this unique brand and with a spartan amount of descriptive international text, there is little to get in the way of the complete visceral experience that the car exudes. While some may complain as to the lack of copy, there are plenty of books on the market that explain the fabled story of this automaker. But for those who want to experience the sheer energy of the Porsche brand in an in-your-face way, this 296-page, nine pound brick delivers.

For the hardcore enthusiast, the book comes in a limited edition of 50 copies including a portfolio with a hand-signed photo-print of the mythic Porsche 908.

A fine example of Porsche pornography. Blending design and engineering successfully is high art. This book showcases that success. The book itself, besides the photos, is a nice design in itself.
