That Bona Fide Hood Love: Kaseem & Kasslyn Season 1

Rate this book
***This is a STANDALONE novel***

Kasslyn Collins was a simple and normal girl until a few months before her 18th birthday where she lost the two most important people in her life. Feeling saddened and desperate, she quickly becomes involved in the fast life in order to get the quick money it brings. When Kasslyn sees a way out in the timid, green, and seemingly innocent Jamal, she immediately jumps on the opportunity, no matter how crazy or... odd. But what she soon realizes is everything that glitters ain't gold.

Kaseem Banks is a semi-reformed street dude, with more money than he can spend or count, and enough women falling for him to have a new girlfriend for every day of the week. Blaming his issues with commitment on his inability to find the perfect woman, Kaseem juggles a few ladies with no problem. Upon meeting the pretty yet gentile Kasslyn, he soon realizes that he may have found exactly what he wants, no matter how much he'd like to deny it. However, both he and Kasslyn have major blockages in the way that are keeping them from getting closer, with the main culprits being the two lovers themselves.

Will Kaseem shed his cold demeanor and philandering behavior to keep Kasslyn? And if so, will her secrets and attachments be insignificant enough for skeptical Kaseem to overlook? In this love story of lies, backstabbing, and scheming, every single person will realize that things are not always what they appear to be.

Great Standalone

This was a standalone, but I wanted more. Really loved Kaseem and Kasslyn together. I knew Jamal was too good to be true, he was jealous and a manipulator. Because he wasn't man enough to stand up to his parents. Behind his actions Catherine was crazy in love and did the unthinkable. I couldn't stand Jabne and wish Kasslyn would've put those hands on her. Would've liked to know more about Leila. So glad that Kaseem and Kasslyn got their happy ending, after all they've been through. Job well done Shvonne Lattice.

This story was pretty good. I enjoyed it. The story seemed to be a bit rushed in the beginning, but it seemed to slow down to a decent pace eventually. I wish there had been more of a build up to the relationship between Kaseem and Kasslyn. The feelings they developed for each other would have seemed more palpable. I did like the story though. Good job, Shvonne Latrice!

Not my favorite

I'm confused about what I just read. I usually like her work but this story was just crazy in s weird way. I don't know what else to say. I only finished to see how she end this strange storyline.

I love that this is a stand alone book... The only issue I had with this is how rushed it was to close it out... Other that that... I loved the storyline an it read at a nice fast steady pace... I had different thoughts and feeling about each character... Sometimes it made me feel conflicted about certain characters... Some started moving differently then what I expected and made me change my mind on them...
I liked Kassilyn... She just happened to have been treated like trash by a certain man that she trusted... I mean she was so young and naive and didn't know any better and he played on that to get what he wanted... Then it was was like all in one day her whole life came crushing down on her and she had to grow up very quickly... She lost the most important person to her and also someone that she believed loved her... Then one day the realization of her life set in and she knew that in order to survive she would have to get a job... While doing this she was approached by a woman that may have helped change her life... But was it really for the better... Or was it all a fiasco and a front for what was really expected of her...
Kaseem is that man... Yes he runs the streets a little but... But he also has a very profitable business... He us very handsome and of course he has money so all these women want to be with him or they claim him... Yet he is just playing the field and these women just let him...
Jamal is a young smart man and it looks like everything us going really good for him... The only problem is that his parents are so controlling over his life... All his life his parents have always made decisions on what he should be, the type of woman he should date and how he should live... This was all okay for a while but eventually it was to much so he was trying to do something that his parents would not expect... He was trying to make his own decisions... It was all good in the beginning... But something changed and things went left very quickly...
The lives of Jamal, Kaseem and Kasslyn became so intertwined that it was almost hard for them to function... I mean there was so many lies, secrets, hatred, and fronts... I wasn't sure how to feel sometimes... Eventually we all see how it played out and I think that everyone got what they deserved... Out of everyone... I am just glad to see Kasslyn finally come out on top... Especially with what she had been through...

Great read I enjoyed Kaseem and Kasslyn love story

Good, could have been better, but good...

This is my first time reading this author, and although it was good, I thought it could have been better to warrant 5 stars...
First, how do you portray Kasselyn as this innocent, gullible, follower woman who can't stand up for hersel (hence Jane) nut you have her do that type of work.
Then you have Kasseem to be this badass, boss man, alpha to the power yet he couldn't handle his women's and his brother.
I think the only real person in all that was Jamal. He surely got what he deserved but, he was a work of art. Everly, Rhea, and Catharine, and Roddrick, all got what they deserved. Alexis escaped just in time.
This was a good plot, but the developing was a little bit too off and did not click as it should have. Too many turns and then a rush bomb at the end, where Kasselyn became this boss lady, independent and simply will not take nothing from anyone when she couldn't even tell someone no. Didn't add up for me!!!

And heres another banger

Ms. Shvonne outdid herself once again. No more standalone, i want more. Lets see...i love Kaseem and Kasslyn together. Kasslyn is a shy girl to the wicked ways of the world especially in her profession. Shes engaged to Jamal; in which they are both using each other. Kaseem is a jackass who i grown to love. He is strong and outspoken to say the least lol. Jamal started out nice and sweet but turned out to be jealous and manipulative all because he allowed his parents to dictate his life. Catherine was crazy as hell lol. Rhea could have been cool but she came at my girl sideways so she canceled. Jane is the worst kind of woman, she acts like shes helping you but she’s really all about herself so i hate her. Lol Kasslyn beat up Allen. Wish she would have beat up Jamal too.

Different

This was different from any other Shvonne Latrice book I’ve read and still was one of the best I’ve read in a long time! The level of diversity displayed in this book, how she went out of her comfort zone, but still gave us a banger is so dope!

From the start I felt sad for Kasslyn, tearing up almost as soon as the book began, but I enjoyed every part of her journey. It was like seeing your problem younger sibling grow into a successful mature adult. Kaseem’s growth was also one I enjoyed watching and loved how, even in a stand-alone, we were able to feel the connections to characters. Everly and Jamal were trash and I hated everything about them!
This is a must read book, there will be no disappointment!

Kaseem-hard, raw and a self-made man. Kasslyn- a young woman dealt a bad hand when her mother committed suicide. Two people who were not looking for love. They met due to an arrangement Kasslyn had with his brother. The chemistry between the two was undeniable. I like that the characters were well developed. The formatting and editing were expertly executed. The story moved seamlessly from one scene to the next. The smooth transitions meant no confusion on the part of the reader. The story also moved at a moderate pace. You felt the chemistry between the characters. The supporting characters were all interesting Jamal was a piece of work. Wasn't he? At any rate, I enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it.

So imagine this…. You find out your boyfriend was using you just to pass time cause his actual girlfriend was away for college. To then find out your mother’s boyfriend break up with her and then she shoot herself 🫠. Couple months later you went out to find a job because you’re being evicted and a Lady comes to you offering a job to be an escort. Fast forward one of your escort likes you like really likes you and propose to you and you say yes to get out of your situation and start up your graphic design business. Your fiancée is a “Christian” so he’s abide by God rules with no sex till marriage and move you into his brother guest house. But you end up falling for his thug brother and fucking him on the low. 🤭 talk about messy with a whole bunch of lies

It's been a minute since I've read a Shvonne Latrice book and bayyyybeeee you came through, but you always do.

Kass was naive, but that was mainly because of her up bringing. Don't get me wrong lil mama was bout that life and would show it when pushed. She needed guidance.

Seem was a jerrrrrkkk lol I really wanted to fight him at first. Then he got to know Kass and my perception of him changed.

Jamal... chile I knew that baby wasn't wrapped too tight him, Catharine and Everly.

Rhea was aggy, but I dealt with her lol

Jane was a true manipulator.

Also I really wanted Leila to want more for herself.

Overall I enjoyed the book!💜

I loved it!

This book was really good from beginning to end. When I thought I was going to stop and pick it back up tomorrow, I found myself turning to page to find out what was going to happen next. Knowing this author doesn't usually write standalones, she did a great job with this book. Kaseem was definitely bae. I loved everything about him, especially his rudeness and bluntness. Kasslyn went through some things, but she overcame them and came out on top. This book flowed well and didn't seem rushed. Overall great read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kaseem & Kasslyn are too cute😍😍😍. Was it me or was everyone crazy 😜 Jamal was stupid crazy 😜, Catherine’s a$& is delusional 🤦🏾‍♀️ I can’t believe she really let Jamal walk her into that death trap. Rhea knew Kaseem wasn’t going for that pregnancy shenanigans she pretty much wrote her own obituary she should have gone to the baby chop shop and kept her mouth closed. Everly was so smart she was dumb!!! Lastly Allen was a sick pervert that was hilarious when she beat the hell out of him😂🤣. I really enjoyed this and loved this happy ending ❤️😍.

Awesome

I really enjoyed this standalone and I’m glad she tried her hand at one. Kasslyn was a sweet girl who was dealt a bad hand. Humiliated by her boyfriend on what turned to be the worst day of her life. Jamal seemed heaven sent but we soon learned that he was not what he presented himself to be. Kaseem was so mean and hardcore but sexy from the start. Kaseem fell for sweet Kasslyn and she basically rocked his world. There was more betrayal and drama on the road to HEA but all would not see a happy ending! Great read!

Satisfied Reader

I disliked Jane for treating Kasslyn that way. But business and business and that's what you sign up for. Jamal was weak and lied his way thru life and it eventually caught up with him. Kasslyn had lust at first sight. Kaseem changed his life for the better once he got rid of the bad apples. Rhea tried to play Seem but ended up getting Slayed. Jane was indeed bitter and couldn't handle rejection. Her and Rod found out that Seem wasn't to be played. Catharine was crazy and she's right where she needs to be

Very nice

This standalone is lit. My girl went through hell and for her to come out on top. Mr. Banks was a big hoe that got tamed down in the end by my girl that wouldn’t take noting from him. His ex’s and flings don’t know how to let stuff go. And his brother Jamel was weird all the way and told lies and held secrets for him to be the good son he sure turned out to be the bad one. U did good on yet another book and I look forward to reading more of ur books. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and eating popcorn while waiting on ur next book

Good job

This standalone was really good. It's crazy how Kaseem and Kasslyn met but even crazier how Jamal made himself seem like he was this great person and in actuality he was just like the rest. It's also crazy how things played out in the end because I surely wasn't expecting that, I thought everything was going to be a simple fix but I had to remember I'm dealing the Shvonne so she had to go out with a big BANG lol. Overall this was a really good and enjoyable book to read

Damn this was an unsuspectingly good book

I'm just sad it was all in one. I know I'm being greedy but Kasslyn was hit with quite a few unexpected we talked that caused her 17 yr old self to have to grow up quick, although taking a job that she wasn't happy with she thought she hit a break and a way out. To her unlucky self she ended up in many more obstacles to overcome in the end things took a turn was it a good or bad one .... uuuuummmm you'll have to read and see 😊

Happy reading

Lol 😂 this book was like a soap opera with so many moving parts and people intertwining. Believe you me I knew from the get go that Jamal persona was too good to be true and it all unfolded.

These women are claiming Kaseem as their own, but he got five yes five women on rotation. He was a hot mess and was proud of it. Kasslyn came across as meek and mild, but she had some fire in her. People like Jane and Allen take advantage of folks. Allen got what he deserved, but Jane still got to keep her business SMH. Rhea was sneaky playing both sides for years and all I can do is shake my head.

Bona Fide Hood Love

The story started out boring but picked up in the middle. Jamal was a little boy trying to grow up but couldn't with his overbearing mother. Catharine was to needy. Rhea was dumb. Everly was a psycho. Kaseem and Kasslyn needed each other and found the peace they needed. Kass should of beat Jane up. Is Leila or Warren book coming next? I would love to read more about Leila

Worth the purchase

Shvonne know she did the damn thing with this book! She went all the way left with another banging ass book, what's even more surprising is this book isn't like her previous books with characters like Ricky AK, Mischief, or Belly. But it a banging ass book, and it's a standalone. You need to read for yourself, just one click and you will see what I'm talking about! I promise you will not be disappointed. Congratulations Shvonne on your first standalone.

Kasseem & Kasslyn, A Bona Fide Hood Love

For a standalone, there is so much to the plot with twists, one after another after another. Wrapped up in a nice, neat bow is the love story of a very successful man and what appears to be a hopeless young woman.

Shvonne Latrice's first attempt at a standalone is nothing short of outstanding. Do yourself a favor and one click this BONA FIDE HOOD love story. You won't be disappointed!

Yesss!!!

I think I found me a new book bae...Kadeem is dream, a woman's fantasy. Kasslyn turned into what he needed without being so hood. Jamal is an idiot, there's just no other words to describe him. As always, Shvonne Latrice never disappoints. Her writing is terrific. The stories that she writes makes all her characters come to life. Her style of writing is liking actually being in the story with them. Truly gifted in every way. Love everything she writes.

Great read

This was a good read. I am glad that Kasslyn was able to find true love and I knew that Kaseem was going to fall hard for her because she didn’t take his stuff. Everly was crazy and should have known she couldn’t make deal with the devil because she was not good at all. Jamal was a nut job and had a few screws loose. Him and Catherine were perfect for each other. I can’t wait til the next book drops.

Definitely a Good Book

I enjoyed the book. However, I do hate when things don’t make sense. It didn’t make sense to be that Kasslyn would not have saved some money up after working for Jane for four years. So, needless to say I was deeply agitated when Kasslyn moved back with Jane. That just didn’t make logical sense to me and it made Kasslyn appear to be stupid. Anyway, I did like Kaseem, however he slept around to much for me. The storyline was good though.

Mixed Opinions

I have some mixed personal opinions about this book but it was a good book to read. I don't like how Kasslyn went Jamal to his brother Kaseem regardless of the circumstances but Jamal was just weird though. I didn't like how Kasslyn kept running back to Jane when she had money to get her own place. It's good that love blossomed between Kaseem and Kasslyn and they got their HEA.
