The Whispered Word by Ellery Adams is the second book of the cozy Secret, Book, & Scone Society mystery series. While the characters were introduced in the first book each book does contain it’s own mystery to be solved so it would be possible to understand without having read the first although some character development will be missing by skipping ahead.

The Secret, Book, & Scone Society mystery series takes place in Miracle Springs, North Carolina, a small town that is known to be a

The Whispered Word by Ellery Adams is the second book in this series.
I was blown away with this story. I could feel the pain of each character, whether it was mental anguish or physical pain, the author described the emotions in such detail, that it was easy to get caught up in each of their stories.
Nora Pennington is a wonderful character. Her story is tragic, but teaches her the lessons of life and she experiences each new day with courage.
Her friends, Estella, June and Hester are special in

This was a fun cozy mystery set in Miracle Springs, North Carolina! I love the beautiful cover and I think that's one of the reasons I chose this one; that and the fact that I'm a sucker for cozy mysteries! Four of the small town's businesswoment/shopkeepers form the Secret, Book & Scone Society - Nora, Estella, June and Hester. They are four close friends who support each other and have already solved at least one mystery together (it's not really described in the book, but since this is #2 ...more

I enjoy reading cozy mysteries to relax and unwind. I particularly enjoy reading cozy mysteries in the autumn. I was very pleased with my most recent choice of books, “The Whispered Word.” The Secret Bone and Scone Society are a group of fiction-loving bibliophiles in Miracle Springs, NC. Nora happily runs Miracle Books and her friend Hester owns the local bakery. When they discover a frail girl with bruises and a medical I.D. bracelet stowed amongst the shelves in Miracle Books, the group ...more

***#earc thanks to #NetGalley for a fair review***

A nice addition of the Secret, Book, and Scone Society with slightly better mystery twistery and the appropriate book references. Overall, a good continuation to the series.

The Whispered Word by Ellery Adams takes place in the imaginary, small North Carolina town of Miracle Springs, a place where people come for healing of mind, body, and spirit. The central characters are Nora, Hester, June and Estella who together form the Secret, Books, and Scone Society. As the story opens, Nora discovers a young woman who says her name is Abilene, hiding in her bookstore.

The book manages to convey a sense of mystic and healing that makes the town a desirable place for tourists

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for the ARC.

How I would love to visit Miracle Books with its purple chairs, writer inspired beverages, delicious book pastries and pretty shelf enhancers. Oh yes, it's the ultimate hangout for booklovers.
It is also where the four ladyfriends of the The Secrets, Books and Scones Society gather to solve everyday mysteries and share a snack or two. Their next case arrives one day in a hospital dress, a young girl hiding among the books. Who is this girl,

An excellent story! As this superb murder mystery begins to unfold, it’s completely absorbing and hard to put down. The mystery is awesome! Clue after clue is revealed until all the connections are made and readers can understand who all the players are and why they acted as they did.

What captures my attention in this story (as it did in the first story) is the generosity of giving that each woman in the Secret, Book, and Scone Society cultivates. Through books, baking, knitting, etc., they all

The Whispered Word features a fantastic mystery and was a fun read from start to finish.

Nora Pennington, owner of Miracle Books, as well as the other members of the Secret, Book, and Scone Society know that sometimes people need a bit of help every now and then. Such is the case when a thin girl covered in bruises is found hiding in Nora’s bookstore. Though Nora and her friends offer their assistance, Abilene is reluctant to share her secrets. I loved the first book in the series so when I was offered the chance to read and review an ARC of the second book I didn't hesitate. This one was just as good as the first. Like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket, this book invited you to get comfortable and stay awhile. I was engaged for the first two pages. Ms. Adams has created and town and characters that are warm and welcoming. Miracle Springs is a quaint setting where people come to get a second chance. These four women are expertly ...more

This is one of the BEST cozies I've read in a while. it grabs you in chapter one and hold you till the last period of the last sentence. There were moments my heart would race during tense moments. I had a hard time putting this book down. It was a little edgier for a cozy which I liked. I highly recommend this one.

I'm so glad the two books in this series didn't end right after the killer was caught and brought to justice. With these characters, there is always just so much more to be learned and time to be spent with them. I love how this book ended after the showdown. There was absolutely no disappointment here! I hadn't seen this killer coming at all!

At the end of the Secret, Book and Scone Society, a girl had shown up at Miracle Books after Nora had put up a Help Wanted sign. This book started right

In The Whispered Word we get to learn more about Nora, Estella, June and Hester, the four women first introduced in The Secret, Book, & Scone Society. Then a young woman, Abilene, mysteriously appears in Nora's bookstore,

Nora owns a bookstore in Miracle Springs, North Carolina. She's part of the Secret, Book and Scone Society, along with Hester, June and Estella.

I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it, but for some reason, I wasn't expecting the emotional ride this one would take me on. I was expecting a solid mystery intertwined with a good story. This book had that, and more.

For one, Abilene's story really moved me, from before and after Nora finds her hiding in her bookstore. But it was the

I received free copies of this book both on netgalley and directly from the author. Thanks to both for the chance to read early!

I knew I was excited to revisit Miracle Springs, but Whispered Word exceeded expectations. Characters both new and old brought intriguing depth to the story. I couldn’t pin down the bad guy right away. Less temptation to bake while reading this one, but the mystery definitely impressed.

This is another great book in the Secret, Book & Scone Society Series. You could start the series with this book, but I suggest reading Book 1 to fully appreciate the depth of the flawed but likable characters. The mystery was well crafterd and the setting, Miracle Springs, sounds lovely. I wish I could visit!

I received an ARC from NetGalley.

The ladies of the Secret, Book, & Scone Society are settling into life in Miracle Springs after the closure of the bank. They are putting together baskets for their less fortunate neighbors, who have lost their jobs and are struggling. But on their first night out they find a body, that of Amanda Frye, one of Nora Pennington's customers at Miracle Books.

The Whispered Word by Ellery Adams was another complex mystery that was also an emotional journey for the reader into a new character's shattered life.

Ms. Adams' descriptive writing welcomed me back into Nora's beautiful world of Miracle Springs, North Carolina. Nora's bookshop is such a blessing for me as I walk into the store and want to stay forever surrounded by the books and Nora's penetrating but loving embrace.

There's something so comfortable about this new series from author Ellery Adams (this is the second Secret, Book, and Scone Society book) that it made me want to savor and prolong the reading of the book as long as I could at the same time I was rapidly flipping pages because the story kept me on the edge of my seat.

Such an intriguing story! I love how the core group of women continue to grow and share with each other and the reader throughout this entire book. This series is more serious than a typical cozy mystery but it's so perfectly written that I didn't mind one bit. I feel like Miracle Springs is a real place I could go visit.

Specifically about this book, the mysteries (yes, plural) kept you turning the pages trying to figure it out right until the reveal. The budding romance throughout the book is

I received The Whispered Word (Secret, Book, & Scone Society #2) by Ellery Adams through a Goodreads Giveaway. This is the first book I have read by Ellery Adams and I really enjoyed it. The story line was compelling and I loved all the characters. I want to read the first book in this series.

My only complaint was this book needed a better editor. There were many missing words and grammatical errors, things that don’t usually bother me but there were just too many to ignore.

I started reading Ellery Adams' books a year or so ago and still do so. I was excited when I learned there would be a more to the Secret, Book, & Scone Society. The Whispered Word did not disappoint. I was as involved with the characters in this second story as I was with the first book. I can't wait to see what's next for the ladies.

Ever since I read the first book in this series, The Secret, Book and Scone Society, I have been waiting for the sequel and when I saw this on Netgalley, I was ecstatic. Also, please do look at that gorgeous cover... it's so beautiful and yummy. And the book totally lived up to my expectations.

When A Secret, Book and Scone Society came out last year, I was completely taken with the strong friendship that was forged among the key characters of the book. Each had a dark secret in her past which had prevented her from growing close to other people. But the four women bonded over events happening in their small town, Miracle Springs, North Carolina. The mystery was pretty good, but the deep trust and friendship that developed between the women was the selling point of that book.

Another “could not put it down” novel from Ellery Adams!

I literally finished this book in under 24 hours. I was transported to that village where the outside world disappears. And it is a rather rude awakening there are no more pages to turn. Spellbinding is a good word to describe this book, as I was certainly under its spell
