After not particularly loving the Corrado/Alessio duet I was a bit hesitant to read this one, and although I liked it, it didn't dazzle me like I'd hoped it would.
Chris is definitely a BK hero - I love, love, love the way this author writes her characters but this wasn't enough to make me love this book like I wanted to. I just needed more I guess.

4 “Trust Me” Stars
There is something about the Guzzi brothers. Chris Guzzi and his loyalty to his twin, his brothers, his parents, la famiglia and the League are impressive. He’s a made man with a heart of gold but with a resolve of steel. When something is asked of him, he does so with conviction. So when there is a retrieval job asked of him, he does so gladly. What he never saw coming was that this job would forever change him.
Valeria López is a victim of her circumstance. She will do anything to keep her daughter Maria safe even if that includes staying with her husband, Jorge, who is the boss of a ruthless Mexican cartel. But when Chris Guzzi comes with his father to negotiate a deal with Jorge, Valeria sees Chris and doesn’t realize that her life will forever change as well.
Most of this story takes place in Mexico where Chris must infiltrate the family in order to do what needs to be done. But during that time, Chris and Valeria grow close. He must convince Valeria to trust him. There is always danger around as Jorge is a ruthless man. But Chris is just as ruthless when he has a job to complete, especially now that the dynamics have changed. His feelings are involved now that complicate and increase the danger for all.
The story is complex with twists and turns. Retrieving will require help and Chris knows who he must call. What comes as a surprise is Valeria’s sister-in-law Abríl. She has always had Valeria’s back but she also is tired of living in the shadows. She brings an interesting twist to the story.
I must say I loved the development of Valeria and Chris but Chris with Maria was exceptional. When a Guzzi man loves, he does so with exceptional valor and heart. It is a trait all of the Guzzi sons learned from their dad. The ending made me sigh with sweet joy. I personally would have loved more time back home for the three of them. What can I say, I’m selfish with wanting more Guzzi family time.

I felt so many emotions while reading this book, cried 5x, and was sitting on the edge of my seat practically the whole book. I could not read fast enough. I could not stop the hope that built in me that everything would work out, even as my dread that everything was going to go up in flames was constant.
The romance, the relationship Chris and Valeria were able to build was amazing. Every moment they stole, everytime their eyes met each other's across a room, I both loved and feared it. Their passion came off the pages. The lengths they were both willing to go to for freedom, for the chance to be together was everything.
The ending made me gasp so loudly that my kids were asking if I was okay. No, I was not. My heart was in my throat and my hand was covering my mouth as my eyes flew across the pages. The action, the suspense of it all made it so I absolutely could not put the book down until I'd finished the story.

Lackluster and just meh. Can’t get into this series as it’s way less mafia and intriguing than I hoped. Needs so much more of a story and character development.

What a great story, the ones I wanted to read on the next page to know what would happen next. A story that captivated me from beginning to end.
I loved the way the author dealt with the relationship between the protagonists, because although it was an instant love affair in a way, I think the author knew how to create the connection between the two and made their relationship believable for me. I loved seeing Val's relationship with little Maria and how her priority has always been the well-being of her daughter. I loved the relationship that formed between Chris and Maria and it was impossible not to smile at the interactions between these two.
Chris and Valeria's story is marked by suspense, action, mystery, twists and of course romance. This book is a complete package of everything I expect from reading mafia books and I loved the journey of these characters.

All the good things!
I’ve fallen in love with the Guzzi family and couldn’t wait to start brother Chris’ story! The love between the Guzzi sons and their parents, despite them being a fearless mob family, is apparent in every shared conversation and scene. The family growing and that means only more love and drama-fueled tension to be read…
Valeria was stuck once again in a he** not of her making. This time, however, she had someone else to protect. As Chris came into her world for cartel business, she quickly realized he was there for her…. My stomach was in knots, in a good way, as they came to an understanding. As intentions were clear and they learnt more about each other, that is when the real fireworks began...
Cool and charming, Chris swept Valeria off her feet with his words and his promises. Valeria was reluctant but soon saw in Chris what she'd been searching for, for so long... Love that was good and right...
Their courtship was unexpected and as far from a canned romance as you can get. Surprises were everywhere. Some of those surprises had me questioning their judgement a few times, I mean they are in a cartel compound just feet away from getting caught! I wanted to shake – and hide – them more than once. Still, I shook my head and moved on because the story itself was too good to get caught up in minor, distracting details…
With family circling the wagons, this was another fab read in the series! I have a new favourite yet I know there is at least one brother who needs his own story…

We really enjoyed Chris's story, and it took us by surprise how completely different he is from his twin brother, Corrado. We really enjoyed getting to know him, and we loved the fact that Chris picked a woman who was completely suited for him who was a survivor and determined to do whatever it takes to keep her loved one's safe. Not only that, but we found Val to be strong and resilient and no matter the life's blows that were dealt to her, she managed to still be kind loving and caring and a beautiful woman inside and out.
The chemistry between him and Val was smoking hot. What we loved about this relationship the most is that I felt that Chris courted Val's daughter right along with her to gain love and affection from both of them.
The story had a great story line that was suspenseful and intriguing. We loved that there were allies to both Val and Chris in the most unlikely places. We loved the story from beginning to end, as the story drew you right in from the very beginning and had you turning the pages to the very end. Furthermore, we are so loving this series and this Guzzi family, and I have to say that I have a bit of a soft spot for Gian.
Not only that, but we love seeing Alessio and Corrado and the other characters from other books grace the pages of this current story, as we sure do love them all.
This was a nice addition to this ongoing series, and with every book I read from this author, we fall a bit more in love with her works of fiction.

Chris and Val definitely took me by surprise. I love all the Guzzi boys but for some reason Chris was just under my radar until I actually read the book.
I absolutely LOVE HIM. I love his personality and what he stands for. I love Val and little Maria. This is packed with surprises and holy shit if you put this book down while reading something is wrong with you.

I keep saying each time she publishes a new book Bethany has outdone herself again and this may be her best work to date and I know she will top this one soon. Chris is just wow he has all that Guzzi charm and also all the heat when he has a laser focus on the one his heart has found. Chris and Valeria gave me so much angst I was physically nervous for this couple, suspense, romance, lots of heat and with all Bethany's characters the promise and finale of love. A great story.

I have to say I much preferred this twin. Chris was much more like what I expect from a BK hero. Although I did enjoy this I felt it lacked a little jeopardy for me but maybe I am just being a picky bitch. I liked Valeria for Chris she was strong and didn’t give up and also little Maria was such a cutie. What I did like was the cameo from Corrado and Alessio I actually liked them both in this book. I also like Abril too you go girl!

I am absolutley in love with Chris Guzzi. We were introduced to Chris in his twin brother Corrado's book and I have been waiting patiently for his story since that first chapter. I always love a Bethany-Kris Mafia Romance, but felt like she really hit it out of the park this time and did so while changing the setting from the cities and families that I am used to reading about to the cartels in Mexico. This book was fast paced and page turning. It was also HOT! Above all, it was a beautiful love story with two strong main charecters and an incredible group of supporting charecters. I am pretty sure that I fell head over heels in love with Chris after his first interaction with Val's daughter. I always make sure that I have a few hours set aside to read one of these books because once you pick it up it is incredibly hard to put down.

Bethany-Kris has got me hooked on all the Guzzi Men! Chris is no exception...I loved him! He may be a twin, but his personality is very different from Corrado.
Chris and Valeria have this amazing chemistry that you can feel and jumps right off the pages; with their many discreet looks and all their stolen moments. You could tell how amazing he would be for Valeria, which is great especially with her history.
What I admired most about Chris is the relationship and how he treated Maria, Valeria's daughter. I found this quote to be a perfect explanation and teaching moment for how Maria's outlook should be for friendships.
I highly recommend reading this EPIC book! Chris is the third book in The Guzzi Legacy Series by Bethany-Kris and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!

Chris, Chris, Chris! Bethany-Kris has made me fall in love with another one of her book boys. Chris has a heart of gold and really reminds me of his dad Gian.
Valeria and Chris has great chemistry. I loved their characters and Maria was just the cherry on the sundae. She was so fricken cute. Chris has stolen a piece of my heart. Everything in this book unfolds perfectly. It wasn’t rushed and everything falls in to place and leaves BK’s readers feeling content and good.
I love Bethany-Kris’ writing. Her books are always in a world of their own. The importance of family in her World’s is what makes her one of my favourite authors. Throw in some action and love and it makes for such an enjoyable reading experience. I couldn’t put this book down. Those Guzzi Men are to die for!

I love great love stories with a great family man! Chris of course is not your typical family man but he turns into one of the best father figures ever! I'm loving his interactions with Maria ! So sweet and heartwarming. And his leading lady being a character we've met before?? Yes! So cool!

Chris Guzzi es enviado a México con el fin de investigar si Valeria Lopez y su hija María están con el cartel Lopez voluntariamente o si han sido obligadas a regresar a su viejo hogar. Una vez ahí, Chris se encuentra con una mujer hermosa que ha sido privada de su libertad, con un marido que no la aprecia y la maltrata física y verbalmente.
Y cuando Chris realmente ve a Val, descubre que hay algo en ella que lo atrae, y le gusta.
Val no puede evitar sentirse atraída por Chris, él despierta la lujuria y el deseo en ella, dos cosas que ella creía muertas.
Poco a poco, Chris borró la tristeza y desesperanza en Val.
Pasito a pasito, Val se adueñó del corazón y alma de Chris.
Salto a salto, María encantó a Chris.
Un trabajo que debería haber sido fácil se complicó cuando los sentimientos de Chris entraron en juego.
Chris me gustó muchísimo, por otro lado, Val, si bien me gustó, esperaba que hiciera algo más que solo esperar ser rescatada. Pero Val sufrió mucho, merecía que alguien luchara por ella y le enseñara que todo lo que ella se permitía soñar iba a ser una realidad para ella, todo eso y más.
Y María fue EL personaje. Ella se gana el corazón de todos (menos del sorete del padre, que no la valoró). Se ganó mi corazón. Amé lo dulce y perceptiva que es. Como enseguida confía en Chris y en que él hará feliz a su madre, que es lo que ella más quería.
Y el epílogo, fue lo más hermoso que leí. Amo las interacciones entre Chris y Maria, son todo lo bueno que hay en el mundo. Espero tener más en los siguientes libros.
Y cuando Chris realmente ve a Val, descubre que hay algo en ella que lo atrae, y le gusta.

Salto a salto, María encantó a Chris.
Un trabajo que debería haber sido fácil se complicó cuando los sentimientos de Chris entraron en juego.
Chris me gustó muchísimo, por otro lado, Val, si bien me gustó, esperaba que hiciera algo más que solo esperar ser rescatada. Pero Val sufrió mucho, merecía que alguien luchara por ella y le enseñara que todo lo que ella se permitía soñar iba a ser una realidad para ella, todo eso y más.
Y María fue EL personaje. Ella se gana el corazón de todos (menos del sorete del padre, que no la valoró). Se ganó mi corazón. Amé lo dulce y perceptiva que es. Como enseguida confía en Chris y en que él hará feliz a su madre, que es lo que ella más quería.
Y el epílogo, fue lo más hermoso que leí. Amo las interacciones entre Chris y Maria, son todo lo bueno que hay en el mundo. Espero tener más en los siguientes libros.

The story line was enthralling and their love was so endearing with sweet little Maria in the mix.

Estos hermanos Guzzi están cautivandome de a uno. Esta vez es el turno de Chris, el gemelo de Corrado.
"—Las apariencias engañan. Y los hombres malos no siempre hacen cosas malas. A veces, también hacen cosas buenas." Chris.
Chris Guzzi se ofrece a hacer un trabajo para The League: ir a México y averiguar si Valeria Gómez y su hija Maria están allí porque quieren o si están siendo retenidas, si lo segundo es correcto debe sacarlas de allí.
Fácil, ¿no?
Excepto que Chris no esperaba encontrarse con una mujer con la belleza de Valeria que lo cautivó desde el inicio, ni esperaba encariñarse con la pequeña María. Ahora está más decidido que nunca que debe darles a ambas la libertad que se merecen.
"—Quiero besarte —dijo—. ¿Puedo?
Ella contuvo el aliento, pero asintió una vez. Chris cerró la distancia entre ellos en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, atrapando la boca de Valeria con la suya en un beso suave, pero aún ardiente."
Valeria Gómez ya no tiene esperanza de ser libre, por lo que sigue las reglas lo mejor que puede mientras cuida de su hija. Así que intenta ser la esposa que su esposo jefe de un despiadado cartel mexicano.
Entonces, Chris aparece en su vida con un potencial trato con el cartel y no se da cuenta de lo mucho que su vida cambiará a partir de ese momento.
"—Los amigos son solo amigos porque quieren serlo; no tenemos que dar nada a nuestros amigos para mantenerlos. Solo nuestra amabilidad y la bondad en nuestros corazones, ¿eh? Eso es lo que cuenta." Chris a María.
La mayor parte de la historia transcurré en un complejo en el medio de la nada en México, en el cual Chris se inflitra para rescatar a Valeria y Maria mientras tanto ellos se acercan. Pero no es fácil para el Guzzi, porque tiene que hacer que Valeria confíe en él y en lo que puede darle.
"—He aprendido que todos tenemos que sacrificarnos para sobrevivir en este mundo, Val. Y eso significa a veces, pensar en ti mismo y en lo que es mejor para ti, incluso si eso significa que alguien más debe sufrir por ello." Abril.
Un personaje revelador es Abril, ella siempre ha apoyado a Valeria y quería que fuera libre de las garras de su hermano mayor. No solo eso, sino que además está cansada de vivir en las sombras y hacer lo que su padre y hermano quieren para ella. Así es como ella termina siendo la mente maestra detrás del plan que saca a su cuñada de su prisión, acaba con un cartel rival y se queda con el cartel de su familia.
"La verdad era que algunas mujeres no necesitaban ser salvadas. No querían ser salvadas. No cuando lo harían ellas mismas y lo harían mejor. Abril era una de esas mujeres."
La historia estuvo bien, los personajes se desarrollaron bien también. Una relación que me encantó fue la de Chris con Maria, sus momentos fueron muy dulces y tiernos, finalmente ella tiene la figura paterna que se merece. Me hubiese gustado haber tenido más momentos de los tres como familia, pero el final fue muy alegre y bien merecido.
Una cosa que no puedo pasar por alto es sobre el mal uso del español: verbos sin conjugar; al final de cada oración los personajes méxicanos metian un ¿sí?; y para vivir en México, y que la mayor parte de la historia transcurra en dicho país, los personajes casi ni hablaban español, ni siquiera entre ellos.
También, otra cosa que estuvo molestándome es que en varias ocasiones se dice que el esposo de Valeria la encontró a ella y su hija por una foto que se publicó dónde sale ella en la boda de Haven y Andino, lo cual es imposible porque en Vow (segundo libro de Andino + Haven) Valeria se había ido a principio de año mientras que en el día de su boda, Dante habla con Haven y le dice que encontró a Valeria y su hija y que ambas estaban ya en México. Esto solo es un detalle, y si yo hubiese leído este libro sin haber leído los libros de Andino y Haven no afecta en absolutamente nada, sin embargo yo tengo presente estos detalles y no puedo simplemente pasarlos por alto.

After sitting out the first two books of this spin-off series, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book 3, Chris. If you need a quick, obvious reason why, just take a gander at that gorgeous, intriguing cover. My fellow mafia romance book loving friends, he was well worth the wait. This alpha but sweet side to him leading man was the perfect match up to beautiful, resilient Valeria, the damsel in distress heroine. Still tied unwillingly to a Cartel mob abusive husband, she’s lived day to day doing whatever it takes to keep her daughter safe from her own daddy. Having run away and forcibly hauled back only made her life with this monster even worse.
Chris quickly gave new meaning to the term hero. My, oh my, did he ever. Cool, calm, calculating, yet lethal with an eye and heart set on vengeance and justice, he becomes a force to be reckoned with. What started out as a job becomes so much more.
Goodness, I loved the Marcellos cameos and their tie to this stand-alone, as well. Make no mistake, the Marcellos know how to make things happen. I also highly enjoyed the revelation about Chris’ sibling, who ultimately played a pivotal role, too.
Well, that’s enough, folks, because I definitely don’t want to give anything away. Just know I highly enjoyed this book and look forward to more books in this series.

My favourite so far. I can’t get enough of this series. I wasn’t sure whether anything would top Corrado’s and Alessio’s stories, but Chris did that. It was emotional, gripping and sweet. It was such a page turner, I had trouble putting it down.
When Chris was sent on a job to rescue Valeria from an abusive marriage to a cartel leader, he didn’t expect to fall the way he did. Chris quickly became Valeria’s hope at a better life and everything she wished for, for her and her daughter. Chris and Val’s relationship was beautiful to read, especially as you saw Val find herself again. Chris’ scenes with Val’s daughter, Maria, made my heart melt. After seeing her mother abused time and time again, Maria clung to Chris and trusted him to help her and her Mother which was so sweet to see.
The ending was perfect and such a sweet way to bring their story to a close. I’ll hope for some Chris, Val and Maria breadcrumbs as I continue my read of the series. I’ve fallen in love with Bethany’s mafia world and I can’t wait to read the rest of The Guzzi Legacy and her other series. I’d recommend to anyone. ❤️

Nothing is how it should be in this amazing 3rd book of the Guzzi Legacy series! Oh how fast paced this storyline is with double crossings, and betrayal throughout! There is only one superb author that can give you this wonderful fast paced, gripping ride and that is Bethany-Kris! You simply have to read this series and hang on tight! One thing is for sure you will not be able to work out up from down with the power of the Lopez Cartel! Valeria is now the trophy wife of Jorge the much hated, cold and dangerous leader and has a daughter Maria by him! Who can help her escape this awful fate she finds herself embroiled in? Can Chris Guzzi, a made man of the Guzzi Crime Family and his twin brother Corrado with The League retrieve Valeria? Will Haven Marcello’s wishes come true? Jorge will have power by any means and will make Valeria pay each day with his cruelty! Will the Guzzi deal with the Lopez Cartel work to gain Valeria's freedom?

Chris is trustworthy, loyal and has a strength that goes far beyond the physical. He will do anything for the family he loves including infiltrating the Mexican cartel to find out if Valeria is being held against her will and rescuing her if she is.
Valeria is being held captive in a marriage to Jorge, the leader of the Mexican cartel. He is a man without mercy, and she knows that escaping will only bring more danger to her daughter Maria, who she would do anything for.
Chris was willing to do whatever was necessary to save Valeria and her daughter before he knew them but now that they have fallen in love, he will let nothing stand in their way. This story takes you on an adventure filled with suspense, twists, romance and great characters that have you invested in their happy ever after.

Oh my-I’ve never read a book with two people that had so much chemistry and passion for each other before. Chris and Valeria were truly a beautiful couple-my heart hurt right along with them, but it constantly held out hope that they could work through their forbidden romance. This author just possesses so much finesse when she writes-and this book just really hit me in the gut so many times. I felt so many emotions while reading this book, and I really enjoyed everything about it. Chris was so smooth-and fought so hard for exactly what he wanted. This is an absolute must read!

There are several things I enjoyed about this book. There are a few things loved, but this thing that I did not care for, well that's the insta-love aspect of their story. I just can't get behind that in a story. It robs me of my favorite part of reading romance.
The author is a good writer, and I've enjoyed her books before. The mafia/dark/suspense stories are always some of my favorite books. I think this would of been a win for me if the insta-love wasn't in it. I'd tell you what I loved and liked but I don't want to post spoilers. If this sounds like your thing give it a shot - it could be a win for you.

One of my favorite mafia families gets thrust into the cartel’s business. I loved Chris - he’s a classic BK hero, cool, calm, collected and muderously devoted to his Valeria. She’s a victim in most of this, but a strong character intent on keeping her child safe - and Chris is there for both. Has it been done before? Yes, but I appreciated this author’s take on it. It’s violent, exciting and romantic. Loved seeing all my favorite Guzzi characters show up in cameo appearances too.
