Abused at every turn of her childhood Jayne grew up expecting the worst. Overlooked, underestimated, she is plain Jayne. However, she's a wonderful teacher determined to show each of her students how special they are. When she is hired as the private tutor to the only daughter of one of the world's biggest rock bands, it doesn't take long for the guys in the band to realize just how special Jayne is. Tennyson, Lee, Klaus, and Diego make up Rochester's Pathos. Four men, closer than regular bandma ...more

Full disclosure: this is a retelling of Jane Eyre, a book which I detest because I read Jean Rhys's Wide Sargasso Sea first, and I always rooted for Bertha. I know they're different takes on the story and Bronte's came first and blah blah blah. But the bell can't be unrung, and I hate Rochester. So I should have tapped out when I realized what this book was going to be. But I didn't, and I'm glad I didn't. Because I did enjoy a good bit of it.

There are some really great things about this book -

I absolutely devoured this book. Ok, so I'm gonna let y'all in on a little secret. I've never read Jane Eyre. Don't hate me, I'm just being honest here. It is the inspiration for this book though and now, even though I know I should have already read it, I want to go back and read Jane Eyre. That's how much I loved this book. Ripley did a phenomenal job of drawing you in, keeping you interested, and just making everything flow so smoothly.

That little twist near the end :O I did not see that coming!

This is a stand-alone rh that follows Jayne who gets a private tutoring job for the daughter of one of the band’s members. The band has secrets that they don’t want Jayne to find out but once she does, will they lose her? I enjoyed this book, I was constantly on the edge of my seat waiting to see what the band was hiding. When the secret came to light, it wasn’t what I was expecting! I loved how Jayne handled the guys and the little gi

This book was exceptional! A reverse harem romance that is surprising beautiful and filled with deep emotions. This clever re-imagining of the classic novel, Jane Eyre will easily sweep you up into the story, touch your heart and leave its mark on your soul. The chemistry in this book is off the charts. and the pull between the characters undeniable. Drama, secrets, pain, poignancy, heartbreak, love and passion, all play a part in this remarkable tale that will totally wreck you emotionally. All ...more

Utterly heartbreaking but beautiful. This story is so much. You move in with Jayne’s emotions as she discovers that people can love her. The guys, even though I hated them for their choices I still fell in love with each character as Jayne did. The flow was good. The main reflection of how strong these characters had to be in the end so they could have their HEA is what got me when reading this book. Enjoyed it like all of Ripley’s books.

This is a modern day, reverse harem retelling of the classic book Jane Eyre. And even though I don’t particularly care for the original, I really loved Just Jayne. Ripley Proserpina writes so intelligently, and her characters are realistic and relatable. This was a beautifully written story with all the feels and angst of an ugly cry book. I enjoyed it thoroughly and can’t recommend it highly enough!

I wanted them to grovel more, but it was good.
I enjoy this author’s work and therefore I read all of her books now without reading their blurbs. I’m not sure if the blurb mentions it, but I realized immediately that this was inspired by Jane Eyre and was thrilled because I love modernizations or re-tellings of classics. The fact that Ms. Proserpina created a rock star reverse harem (RH) with Jane Eyre as a base should be no surprise to me - she has created other wonderfully unique stories with roots in myth or folklore - but I remain impres ...more

Almost loved it

I really really wanted to love this book, but I didn't. I enjoyed parts of it a lot, I hadn't read any modern Jane Eyre retellings and I was so excited to read this one, and the first couple chapters were great, Jayne is a very likeable and sensible protagonist and I had was really looking forward to seeing how her relationships developed with the guys. However, the way the relationship progressed with the guys really threw me off and quite frankly I found myself skipping the MA s

Fans of Bronte's original will feel like they've met with a cherished friend while reading Just Jayne, while at the same time enjoying the freshness the reverse harem aspect brings to the familiar Gothic romance.

In Tennyson, Lee, Klaus, and Diego, Ripley Proserpina has created four distinct characters who mirror some of the best and worst aspects of Bronte's Rochester. Making them rock stars was a stroke of genius, and allows for a modern twist on the need for a governess for a young charge. An

I was so excited when I saw the pre-release message about this book. I love this author, rock star romance and RH. Though this book was well written there were some aspects that kept me from fully connecting. The biggest issue for me was how quickly they fell in love. With the sad backstory of Jayne and the unusual lifestyle of being a rock star, I could easily buy into the acceptance of an alternative relationship. What I couldn't buy into was that they were in love. They spent so little ti

This reverse harem story is a contemporary retelling of the Brontë classic Jane Eyre. Just Jayne pays homage to the original within reason considering its four men verses one. I'm not a fan of Jane Erye so this wasn't my favorite of all Ripley's stories. I did enjoy to the guys being rockers and creative.

It was sad reading Jayne's mistreatment by her extended family and school master as a girl, making it all the more rewarding when she makes a living nurturing her pupils. Jayne is strong of char

What a wonderful world!

If you are a Bronte fan you will love this 21st century retelling of Jane Eyre.

The characters are wonderful, they sucked me into the story and I felt like I was watching everything unfold.

Whilst this is a RH, our main characters relationship is very tasteful and romantic. I felt there was a good level of realism because as we know no ones life is perfect and no matter what a great relationship takes work from all parties, so it was good to see conflict and resolution.

Jayne has been a tutor for the rich and famous for a long time, now that her latest charge is heading to boarding school, she's summoned to her agency for an interview.

There's a lot of mystery involved in that first interview, but it does get her on a plane to London and the second interview.

In spite of not wanting to get involved, Tennyson, Lee, Klaus, and Diego were determined to make Jayne theirs.

I fell in love with their daughter Sophie, and their interactions with her were priceless.

I really wanted to love this

This book just didn't make sense to me. The relationship didn't feel authentic, maybe just because of the timeline it happened on. Jayne never demanded answers even when literally the most laid back person in the world would have. The thing I actually cannot get over, though, is how long the guys kept Bree in the house when she was a very real danger to everyone in it, especially Sophie, their CHILD. I cannot fathom putting a child in danger like that. Most of their i

The thing I love about this book is that it’s not your everyday telling. There’s secrets you know are being kept, but can’t quiet reach them to figure out what. Jayne is such a breath of fresh air. She isn’t star struck by this band. She is there to do her job, not fawn over the men. She has her students best interests first. And then things get weird. There’s something strange in the mansion and she’s determined to protect herself and the men she’s come to care about. But things aren’t what the ...more

Great RH!

Omg! If you need a one and done RH, honey, this one is for you! I love my Series books as much as anyone and the fact that you get so much story in them, but sometimes you need a complete RH that just hits the spot. Well thos one certainly does! Jayne is a great MC who's been through so much in life and of course she deserves all the happiness in the world. But life being life, does not make it easy. Her men are amazing. Ten, Lee, Diego and Klaus all work their butts off to show Jayne t
Jayne is such an interesting MC. She is more of a wall-flower, but she is also fierce and has a core of strength. She has to really had anyone in her life that cared about her. She is a live-in teacher for the rich. She takes a new job in England and finds her life turned upside down. Tennyson, Lee, Klaus, and Diego form the rock band Rochester Pathos. They have lots of secrets. I really like how Jayne does what is right for her and stands up for her beliefs both for her student and for herself. ...more

Emotional story

Standalone contemporary Reverse Harem books are rare. I have no idea why that is, I can imagine it takes some skill as a writer to make sure the story moves at a believable pace. Ripley nailed it in this Rockstar romance meets plain Jayne. But there was nothing plain about Jayne. She was a woman wearing her scars as proof she survived. She didn't hide her past, it made her stronger and she does not put up with any crap from others, knowing her own worth. Yes, there was the hint of

I loved this remake with a reverse harem twist on Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte!! I love Classic books and to finally get a reverse harem cover of one was so delightful to read!! It truly follows the original storyline, but with a modern world and some sexy rock stars, who all fall in love with plain, Jayne. It’s a beautiful story, and I love how Jayne just naturally loves Sophie and is sweet to everyone. I hope author, Ripley Proserpina, will write more reverse harem remakes of the Classics!

There was so much missing in this book.

I have no idea why they fell in love with each other. We didn't get to know them at all. The guys acted like idiots all the time and they did not change, besides only 3 out of 10 times did Jayne say something to them, and the rest of the time she pretended to be a doormat.

And the last 23%? Completely pointless and some how super lame. Like wow, I can't believe some wrote that and I can't believe I read that.

I absolutely loved this book. It's a stand alone RH. It was so beautifully and well written. Made me smile and made me feel like my heart was breaking with joy and sadness. I can't put into words just exactly what this book did to me but I definitely went through a rainbow of emotions and would highly recommend. Keep up the good work ripley , magnificent writing and story telling.

Reverse harem jane eyre

For those who are familiar with the classic story this is a great modern adaptation (extra plus points for the reverse harem) for those unfamiliar with Jayne eyre, this is a story of secrets, true love, broken men and a 'plain jane (jayne)' who has the ability to help them battle each others demons.I really enjoyed it.

So Sweet

Contemporary Rockstar Romance. Standalone. Easy/quick relationship. Jayne finds herself the live in teacher to a daughter of rockstars. I loved this story. Jayne stayed true to who she was and you see that throughout. And that plot twist was beautiful, didn't see it coming. The guys are perfect. I really need to know what happens to River though.
