You Don’t Choose The Academy. The Academy Chooses You.

Being accepted into an elite school of magic, monsters, and assassins was not my idea of higher education. But here I am, fighting my way through the Culling Trials to claim my right to be taught.

As if the gauntlet-type physical and mental tests aren’t enough, people are going missing.

People that are my friends.

I enjoyed this book but for the life of me I don't understand what is going on. The writing is great, you keep reading and reading until the very end when you realize there is no plot line. The only thing that I know is that there is some sort of trials and that's it.

There's no reason given for this trial, there's no explanation of what Wild is, why anyone is after her or what happened to her brother. Having these questions unanswered in book 1 is understandable but having these questions still

The Culling Trials book 2 picks up Wild's story immediately after the ending of the first instalment so please be aware there will be spoilers for the first book in this review. It's turning into a really fun series though so you should definitely check it out if you haven't already.

Picking up immediately from where we left off Pete has just walked into the bathroom and discovered that Wild is really a girl. Although he has a little trouble getting past the whole boob thing before he can even th

Wild has the worst kept secret in the whole of the Academy, so this lost the “Mulan” thing book 1 had going on. Which I kind of missed. But her rag tag team of misfits are still hilarious and all interesting characters in their own right.

The book just goes too fast and it's over before I even know it and it leaves me wanting more and more!

I don't think I can wait another month to find out what happens with the next trials and what is going on with Rory, Wild, Ethan, and the rest of the crew!

A Pulse Pounding 4.5 Stars!!🌟💥

Holy moley the tension goes up & down like a yo-yo in this book. I needed meds for my blood pressure & an inhaler for catching my breath!!😱😍

Wild & her crew are thrown back into the thick of the Culling Trials from the get go. Ethan is his typical douche canoe self, full of self importance & out to win at everyone else's expense - can he or will he ever learn to be a team player?? Each other member is pulling their weight, or more, until in the dead o

Two more trials down for our rag-tag team!
In this one we get to see the group go through both the Goblin and Shifter trials-While I like that each individual of the team is bringing something to the table, I wish everything was quite SO easy for Wild. However, besides her instincts and speed we do see that some her ability to find answers in the trials comes along with knowledge from her past experiences-(view spoiler)

Fantastic continuation of The Culling Trials. Wild is learning step by step, and surviving the terrors the academy throws at her, with the help of her make shift and mismatched crew. We get two full trials this time around instead of just one, offering more clues and glimpses into the houses these trials represent - and just what they might mean for Wild.

- Character development
- Fast paced!
- Great team.

I have never read the author K. F. Breene before, but if this second book in the Shadowspell Acaemy series shows how good she is, I must start very soon. Anyway, we start up right where we left in the first book, and the action never lets up from that point on. Wild is determined to win the trials, but when she discovers there have been missing contestants and it gets personal, she ups her game. I have to admit that YA is generally not my favorite genre, but I don’t mind when the plot, character ...more
I'm so confused. Will there be more than 3 books in the series? Because there is absolutely no way Breene & Mayer can bring this to a satisfying ending with only one more book. There are too many unanswered questions so they're either going to rush the answers or continue with the series.

Now to the book itself. The trials were really boring and predictable. I mean it wasn't like the team just breezed through them, there was a lot of action involved but I already knew that Wild would succeed

AHHH I love these books so much! I finally realized what they remind me of. The kind of remind me of the Percy Jackson series, because whenever Percy and his friends fight monsters they have this humor and sarcastic comments that crack you up. The same humor is here, I literally could not stop laughing throughout the whole book. The scenarios are serious, but the personality of the narrator lightens it up. They're also blessing short, I wouldn't mind it if these books were longer, but lately I'v ...more

Shadowspell Academy: The Culling Trials book two by KF Breene and Shannon Mayer is book two in this series and oh boy I couldn't wait to get my hands on this next instalment. I was giddy, giddier, at the giddiest.
And now I have it in my grabby hands - yay. Shadowspell Academy: The Culling Trials (Book 2) is not a standalone. You must read book one or you'll be lost.
The second book picks up where the previous one was left off. Maribel (Belle - Wild) Johnson took the place of her younger brother i

Wild’s adventures in the Culling Trials continue, and she’s developing into a strong contender. Her background on the family farm, the skills she had to learn helping her family and the magic she has that she knew nothing about, are a combination that’s making her a strong contestant. It’s great to see the skills she’s picking up during the different sections of the trials help her with her wins, and make her wonder what her skills truly are..

The Culling Trials starts off with a bang! We begin right where book one ended and you never even skip a beat. As we continue through the trials and Wild's secret is exposed more, the stakes go up. I loved the characters in the 1st book and if it's even possible I love them even more now. This ragtag crew that Shannon Mayer and K.F. Breene have created just may be my new favorite creation. They take us on a nonstop rollercoaster and when you finally think you may have figured it out… They smack ...more

Book 2 is highly entertaining with a rag tag crew of supes testing their abilities against the academy’s trials in order to determine whether or not they are worthy of additional training. The crew maybe young but there isn’t much in the way of the teenage against and typical words ( thank goodness)! Wilde is freaking hilarious! The storyline is action packed and fast paced. The characters are likable and believable! The story ends on a cliffhanger but thankfully the next book is due out in a mo ...more

This book was dark, but hilarious.
It's quickly become one of my favorite books of the year! Wild, the main character, is discovering more about herself, as well as the reality that she knows so little about this world. She and her unexpected team have to claw their way through more culling trials (quite literally for Pete!). I didn't think I'd root so hard for a secondary character to come out on top, but Pete is someone I'd want to know in real life.

This series just keeps getting better! I love the supernatural aspect and the wide array of different magical beings. Wild is badass as she comes into her own more and more with each book. She establishes loyalty, solidarity, and most of all friendship among her crew. Literally unheard of at the Academy. I’m really looking forward to more from this series!

Book 2 in the Shadowspell Academy has officially just turned me into a Culling Trial junkie. I am craving the next one. This book was an overload of excitement and feels. Wild is exactly that...wild and her team compliment her so well. I honestly could not stop turning pages until I had literally devoured every word. The magic that comes out of the Mayer/ Breene combo has blown my mind. I am itching to know what comes next, that cliffhanger was damn cruel. Even worse was the sneak preview of boo ...more

As good as book 1 was, book 2 knocks it out of the water! Wild and her crew start with the next sections of the trails, but the mystery and intrigue surrounding Shadowspell Academy are everywhere. People are missing, danger is abound, and Wild is right in the thick of it.
We get to know the group even more in book 2 and there's so much to love. Even Ethan is starting to grow on me! Everyone is nessecary and the team work is so fun to read. It's fast paced, action packed, inventive, original, and

I feel like a lot of sequels are not usually as good as the first book, but this book was even better! This book picks right up from where the first book ended. Wild and her crew survived the first trial, but still have to survive the rest of the trials. Wild really steps up as the true leader of her crew and this book shows the lengths she will go to in order to protect her crew and family. This book picks up where the last book left off, and we find ourselves thrown into the next trial, no rest for the weary! This fast paced, action packed, make laugh till you snort sequel, had me in stitches, tears and oh hell no moments! The characters are so well written that you have no choice but to feel like you're there right with them, going through these same things. Kudo's Shannon and K.F. can't wait till the 3rd book is out!

Non stop action from start to finish. I was really anticipating this 2nd book in the Shadowspell Academy series. The characters are quirky, but complex. Wild is truly developing into a leader and force to be reckoned with. She is developing deeper bonds with her teammates while reconnecting with her childhood friend Rory. She delves deeper into the mysteries of the Academy.

Amazing teamwork by the 2 co-authors. I can’t wait for book 3.

This story was like trying to eat Pringles. Once I started, I couldn’t stop! I slept through my alarm and was late to work because I couldn’t sleep until I finished the book. I HAD to know what happened next! Book two starts off where book one ended. With boobs lol. (Hopefully you have read book one and know what I mean. If not, what are you doing here? Go back and read the first book!!)

Loved the first book in the series and this one is even better. I was enjoying it so much that I literally shouted out loud when I turned the last page and realized it was the end. People stared. I didn't care.

In this second book we get even more action, mystery (missing kids), assassins, and interesting new characters and allies. Wild is a stud, as usual, Ethan is a douche-bag (gloriously so!) and Rory adds to the mystery. The rest of the crew play a big part. They are so quirky and add so much

This book is very entertaining. The action and suspense keep you intrigued and interested throughout. It’s a definite page tuner.
The writing was great as well as the characters. They are getting deeper into more Culling Trials and are trying to figure out what’s going on with missing kids and Wild is learning more about herself and the magic world. She’s one tough girl. I love her character. Their entire crew and their abilities are pretty cool.
The ending was great but leaves you wanting more. I

This series just keeps getting better!!! The Culling Trials are being amped up and there is no rest Wild and her crew. Things are heating up as well! Wild’s secret is out, there is danger directly focused on Wild and students are now missing. Wild wants to keep her friends safe but she also notices a pattern to the disappearances so she has no choice but to look in to it with the help of her crew. Let the action and adventure unfold but be warned…serious cliffhanger ahead!
