About the author

It can never be said that NYT & USA Today Bestselling author Sidney Bristol has had a ‘normal’ life. She is a recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad in both Russia and Thailand, working with children and teenagers. She now lives in Texas where she splits her time between a job she loves, writing, reading and fostering cats.

Sidney Bristol knows how to weave an action-packed, compelling story. Her characters are relatable and likable. She uses her skills to craft another Aegis Group story, this one about Coco and Paxton. It's almost as good as the rest of the stories in this series, but for reasons that I cannot understand, I didn't find it as engrossing as the others.

The connection between Coco and Paxton didn't strike me as having the same intensity as some of the other characters found with their partners. Of course, I wanted them to be together, but the depth of their feelings for one another could have been explored a bit more somehow. I don't really know how, since the author brought the five senses into their awareness of one another and used words that would normally evoke feelings within the reader. It just didn't do it for me. And maybe it's just me, because I cannot define anything objectively wrong with any of it. Yes, the editing could use some work, but none of the errors were egregious. I think the book earns a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Some things that I take for granted in a Sidney Bristol book - intelligent, indepth storyline, great characters, nice blend of action, standalone story easily read. It's been a while since I've read a book from this author & it's only as I'm reading it that I realise just how quality these stories are. This book takes place in South Africa and it's easy to see the research that's gone into trying to cover what is a very difficult and involved society. As with all books from this author, this is standalone, but it does include characters that are familiar from other Aegis books. This isn't a short story but a real book you can get lost and involve yourself in. Loved it.

This was the eighth book in the Aegis Group Series. Fate and a wedding bring two people together who have no interest in commitment. A super hot retired marine and a serious animal lover. A one night stand, a major poaching problem, an ex-boyfriend and more drama than you can imagine. Explosive chemistry and growing feelings tend to complicate their arrangement. Let Paxson and Coco take you on a romantic roller coaster as they work out their feelings. Great characters and an entertaining story. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.

Love at first sight

Two people from different backgrounds yet similar dysfunction family life. The main characters Coco and Pax are loners. Learning to love each other brings out how they are surrounded by many people who love them.

The heroine in this one just turned me off to most of the book thus the 3 stars. I enjoyed the story line and all the rest of the characters, though. The plot moved along well and I enjoyed this installment of the series.

LOVED this story set in South Africa, shining a light on the problems there while still telling of the beauty and wildlife. great plot, great characters as always. couldn't put it down, read through the night until I had finished.

Oh where to start? Well there's Coco, twin to Cain. Not a very good twin to her! Her family is torn apart because of the laws in South Africa. She wanted to go to college, but does what she loves working at an animal preserve. Her best friend's wedding is being held here, but Coco feels insignificant around the others. Paxton is coming to the wedding, well he's not sure why! Then he see's this fierce girl with a tree branch holding off a crowd! He jumps in to save her and her little animal friend. He's enchanted! This story is full of laws and divide and devious doings, but it also gives you a glimpse of how things are in a place far away! Going to the top of my favorite list!
