An emotionally, persuasive, addicting, and enticing romance novel that will have you weak on your knees for more of Lainey and Rookie...

So I have been in such a massive book slump, a book slump that has me so behind on my Goodreads book challenge. Of course, Helena Hunting knows how to swoop in and destroy all my emotions and make me fall head over heels with her writing all over again. Not that I wasn't already, but this book slump has been killing me in the worst of ways. Lainey and Rookie h

A Lie for a Lie is a fun and sexy second-chance contemporary romance. Rook is confident and a reformed player, and Lainey is somewhat of a sweet, nervous and naive type. They say opposites attract and that was definitely the case for this couple. I enjoyed the way they met and the setting of the story in the first half of the book. It was just the two of them and I really liked how their relationship developed. RJ was helpful and very

I'm a big fan of the author's romantic comedies. While there are many funny moments in A Lie for a Lie, that's not what is most memorable for me. It's the feels that got me in this one. Yes, he's a chick magnet and he's earned his bad reputation. But, it's gotten kind of old not knowing who is just after his money and fame. Can you blame him for enjoying the attention of a beautiful w

Wow, this book titillates the reader in all the right places! I tried putting Hunting’s latest offering down at daft o’clock but to no avail ‘cause it’s far, far too addictive. And although it’s a romantic comedy, the author’s take on a delicate subject gave the story such a sensitive touch it got me sniffling into my pillow more than once. Hunting’s gone back to ice hockey with this stand-alone spinoff from the highly popular Pucked S

I love when fate steps in and punches you in the gut! Rook was at a loss of what to do after pinning for a girl he spent 6 beautiful weeks with vanished from his life without a word! He has no idea how to find her he just knows he needs her! Right when he feels he might need to move on life slaps in the face by delivering her in the most awkward way possible! Lainey has spent the better part of year changing her life in ways she didn’t think possible and when she comes face to face with the man ...more

This is a second chance romance between our main characters Lainey and RJ that starts in Alaska and expands to Chicago. If you read her pucked series then you will so many familiar characters in this book.

It does seem like I am the minority here because everyone else loved it while I think it was cute. A way to spend a cozy night reading, but nothing memorable or something I would pick up again.

Our characters were good and had great chemistry. However, as far as secrets go, I could tell what L

First I’m going to say that I totally did not expect this book from Helena Hunting
It was beautifully executed on giving us Pucked fans what we wanted, our Rookie 🥰

We wanted His story because we knew he had to have one & Author Helena Hunting delivered it.

Rookie surprised me immensely. He left me presently satisfied & shocked on who he really is outside the hockey world.

Not going to lie, he is the total package & I totally digged it!

And Lainey; once she meets Rook, their chemistry ha

Ughhhh. I'm upset. I went into this thinking I was going to get a cute, second-chance romance set in Alaska and instead I got (view spoiler). If you don't mind that trope, you'll probably enjoy this as it wasn't necessarily a terrible book! However, that trope is literally my least favorite romance trope and it ruined the entire book for me. I definitely think that the synopsis of this book should be re-worked before release bec ...more

A Lie for a Lie by Helena Hunting is such a good read I ended up reading it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down.

The blurb pretty much covers everything. The story starts with Rook and Lainey meeting on a flight while going on a vacation. From there onwards starts the cheesy, unrelatable, and somewhat unrealistic romance. Rook, captain of Chicago’s NHL hockey team, is a reformed playboy and Lainey is a sweet but somewhat awkward and nervous girl. Rook is instantly infatuated with the innocence of Lainey and Lainey is obviously attracted towards the handsome male specimen in front of her. I struggled warmin ...more

This is my first book by Helena Hunting, and after reading this book, I'm not sure why I've waited so long to read her other books lol! I found out about this book when the publisher sent out an email and this book was included in it! The synopsis sounded intriguing, so I decided to read it! Helena Hunting is one of my favorite authors and I couldn't wait to dive into this Pucked series spin-off. A Lie for a Lie is a combination of several different tropes, but at its heart, it's a very sweet second chance sports romance. It's a little less romcom than some of her other books, but there are still plenty of laughs as well as feels. While it's not necessary to read the Pucked series first, fans of that series will be delighted by all the cameos and appearances by some of Helena Huntin ...more

What are the chances that two strangers meet on a flight and end up going to the same remote wilderness in Alaska? That’s what happened to Lainey and RJ.

Sheltered Lainey takes the opportunity to travel to Kodiak, Alaska to get away from her overbearing family (that she loves to death), and to prove her independence. Never in a million years did she think she’d find the love of her life.

With no doubt in my mind, A Lie For A lie is my absolute favorite book by this author. I am a huge fan of Rom-Com's and this author got me, hook, line, and sinker. I could not put this one down. A Lie for a Lie solidified by why I love Helena Hunting! Mrs. Hunting brought us a new series of hockey players to love while at the same time bringing back the ones we love and miss!

RJ/Rook and Lainey meet in such a meet-cute way and what starts the journey of a lifetime for them. 5 star Review A Lie For A Lie (All In #1) by Helena Hunting

I loved the Pucked series so when I heard there was a spin off series planned I was so excited and couldn’t wait to read.

RJ needs to escape the chaos of Chicago and being an NHL team captain; where better to go than Alaska? Imagine his delight when he meets Lainey and realises she has no idea who he is.

This is my second Helena Hunting ARC. I got this from the Montlake Romance website through NetGalley. I was very excited for this thats why I devoured it overnight.

If you're looking for an angsty and heavy drama read, then this is not the one for you. This is a feel-good romance... One that would leave you with warm, fuzzy feels... If you're having a sucky day and you feel like the entire universe is being a jerk to you, then this is the book to pick-up... It's inspiring and heartwarming, and it

I loved the Pucked series so much that I think I was a little disappointed that this book was different. Yes, this is a spin-off and we do get to see the Pucked crew again (including their kids), but the most noticeable difference is that this book is not a rom-com. This story is highly emotional, with a touch of suspense that I don't think was done that well. I also feel that the steam is toned down compared to the Pucked or Shacking Up series.

As much as I love Helena Hunting, this book contain

Helena Hunting has done it again. She delivers a book that hits you right in the feels.

Rook isn’t just your normal guy, he’s the captain for an NHL team and he is one of the best players in the league. The press and the pressure are a lot, and everybody deserves a break, so he heads up to Alaska for some peace and quiet during the offseason. A lie by omission is still a lie. And sometimes a little white lie is what severs ties and breaks hearts. But the truth and perseverance can mend hearts...right?

Alaska is the idyllic setting where we first meet Rook and Lainey. Seriously, an oversized human teddy bear to keep you warm and safe? Sign me up.
