Protectors of The Wood #3

Protectors of the Wood #3: The Ghost Girl

Rate this book
This is the third book of the Protectors of the Wood Series, a six-volume saga about a group of misfit teenagers who save the world from climate change.

In Book 3, Abby becomes the church gardener and moves into the old, run-down churchyard cottage. She soon discovers that she is watched night and day by professional investigators hired by the colossal corporation trying to take over the town, and force Abby to reveal the secrets of the forest and the source of dreamstone. Reverend Tuck, Abby, and their allies form a community council to run churchyard events and gather support for their efforts to engage the church in the fight against climate change.

The community in Rivergate, an island in the wetland preserve, and Abby’s childhood home, joins their mission. The struggle with Milton Morphy and his corporate empire reaches a dangerous climax as Abby flees for her life into the forest.

Something to think about

I gave this book 5 stars and need to read the first 2 and what ever follows. Really gives you something to think about as I love to be in my garden and stock up for winter. Heirloom seeds I have to order. There's a couple of generations I worry about not gonna be able to feed themself. But hey at least they got them useless phones. Thank you for the free book I can't wait to read more of this story.

I like how The Ghost Girl has all sorts of adventures and mystery in it. I like how it shifts to Abby’s perspective. We get more information about her struggles and hardships of her life. This book deepens the mystery of the two books before it. I like that it shows when you work together you can get anything done and the illustrations are really great too!

The Ghost Girl, Book 3 in the Protectors of the Wood series, does exactly what a third book in an adventure series should do. It stays true to the original characters and setting while expanding the universe to bring in more fascinating characters, interesting settings and exciting plot twists. It also deepens the mystery and magic of the first two books. Book 3 shifts perspective from Phoebe to Abby, who was a rather mysterious figure in the first two books. Getting to live insider her head is a treat. She is a complicated, fascinating character and I think her struggle to balance making a life for herself with trying to make a difference will resonate with lots of readers in this politically challenging time. I also loved the setting and characters in Rivergate, a fascinating place where locals have adapted to rising river levels with an impressive fleet of riverboats. The series manages to be upfront and honest about the challenges facing our natural environment while still maintaining a sense of wonder and hope. These books are a joy to read, and I always put them down restored and inspired.

The Ghost Girl dives into the mysterious life of Abby. I really like all of the illustrations, my favorite illustrations are on page 169 and 238. I also like all the songs/lyrics in The Ghost Girl.

Here is my favorite song/lyrics that are in The Ghost Girl (page 82).

Sometimes I'm walking on rainbows
Sometimes I'm locked underground
But if I hear you say
It's all okay
There's Nothing compares with that sound
I'm lost but now I'm found

I care about a lot of things I guess
I try and try just to do my best
But if it's not right with you
There's nothing I can do
I'm lost before I begin
God help the shape that I'm in

God help the shape that I'm in
God help the shape that I'm in
Just come back to me
I'll be yours for free
I'll do all the good I can do
It's just that I need you

Sometimes I'm stumbling through my day
And there's no light upon the way
There's nothing I can see
It's dark as can be
Hold my hand and see me through
I'm lost if I don't have you

Of course I'm biased. I have the plessure of working closely with this essentially purposeful movement that packs storytelling, captivating illustrations and music painted in through lyrics and melodic rhymes.
Of course I gave Protectors of The Wood Book Series' The Ghost Girl (Book 3) "Teens saving world from climate change..." a high 5 rating. It deserves it.

Congratulations John KixMiller, staff, musicians, and most importantly, our readers and supporters! Peace T

This is a brilliant book, and I recommend it without any hesitation.-Biodun Iginla

This book is about climate change, and the way it affects ecosystems.
Climate change occurs when changes in Earth's climate system result in new weather patterns that last for at least a few decades, and maybe for millions of years. The climate system is comprised of five interacting parts, the atmosphere (air), hydrosphere (water), cryosphere (ice and permafrost), biosphere (living things), and lithosphere (earth's crust and upper mantle). The climate system receives nearly all of its energy from the sun, with a relatively tiny amount from earth's interior. The climate system also gives off energy to outer space. The balance of incoming and outgoing energy, and the passage of the energy through the climate system, determines Earth's energy budget. When the incoming energy is greater than the outgoing energy, earth's energy budget is positive and the climate system is warming. If more energy goes out, the energy budget is negative and earth experiences cooling.
As this energy moves through Earth's climate system, it creates Earth's weather and long-term averages of weather are called "climate". Changes in the long term average are called "climate change". Such changes can be the result of "internal variability", when natural processes inherent to the various parts of the climate system alter Earth's energy budget. Examples include cyclical ocean patterns such as the well-known El Nino Southern Oscillation and less familiar Pacific decadal oscillation and Atlantic multidecadal oscillation. Climate change can also result from "external forcing", when events outside of the climate system's five parts nonetheless produce changes within the system. Examples include changes in solar output and volcanism.

The Ghost Girl is a sci-fi dreamworld saga of teenagers saving the world from climate change. Abby (who is under surveillance by the authorities) becomes the church gardener and moves into the old, run-down churchyard cottage. She soon discovers that she is watched night and day by professional investigators hired by the colossal corporation trying to take over the town, and force Abby to reveal the secrets of the forest and the source of dream stone.

Stable forests as a contribution to climate change mitigation. Stable and healthy forests protect against natural hazards, play an important role in the provision of clean water and air, offer habitats for plants and animals, are workplaces and places of recreation, provide income and many more as would provide for Abby.
Forests Combat Climate Change. Forests are vital storehouses of carbon on our planet. However, when forests are cleared to make way for agriculture and other activities, they emit large quantities of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This contributes to climate change. The Corporation in this book is responsible for clearing forests to make way for agriculture and other activities.

John KixMiller's modern myth about misfit teen environmentalists continues in "Protectors of the Wood #3: The Ghost Girl." The story now focuses on Abby Chapman, who had been a supporting character in the first two books... "Phoebe Comes Home" and "Phoebe Breaks Through." Mystery, magic and menace abound, as Abby learns more about herself and her role in the unfolding endeavor to save the world from Climate Change. As with the previous books, "The Ghost Girl" explores various issues, while continuing its goal to inspire readers to protect and preserve our planet's biosphere.
