The one that got away.

Meg’s heard the expression before, but now she truly understands it.

She wishes she didn’t.

Because the one that got away was the horse that tugged at Meg’s heartstrings.

Meg’s going to need the help of best friend, Slate, and brother, Cam, to make sure she doesn’t miss out on her next heart-horse, and to set her up for her first fateful appaloosa summer

Another well-written YA horse story by Tudor Robins, this is the prequel to her Appaloosa Summer. Sometimes it seems like an author will write a prequel that has no point, just to get a sale. Luckily this prequel is actually a fun and engaging story, with great horse parts.

One of the best things about this story is the interplay between Meg and her best friend Slate, and between Meg and her irresponsible but utterly charming brother, Cam. Meg has had her heart broken when the perfect horse she f

I really loved reading the Island Series, so when I had the opportunity to read the Prequel - Six-Month Horse, I jumped at the chance.
In this novella, we see how Meg came to find her one true love - a skinny bay Thoroughbred named Major Disaster.
Even though this is only a novella, we see some great character growth from Meg, and we get to know her best friend Slate better too.
I highly recommend you try this book, and the series too - if you haven't already!

I don't recommend this method of buying a horse, nor of preparing for your family's Thanksgiving dinner. The tale is very well written, giving us time and entertainment with the characters who don't actually do much riding but manage to think about horses a lot and spend time around several horse characters.

Having enjoyed Meg's tale in Appaloosa Summer I was interested to see how she got her fine horse Major. Young riders - or readers - can read the stories in any order.

This was an awesome read!

I loved the story and could relate well to the main character. I highly reccomend this book! I do wish there was more of the story written between this book and book 1 of the series.

Wonderful addition to the series. Meg is looking for a new horse, covering for her troublesome brother, trying to please her parents, and learning some life lessons.

Thoroughly enjoyed this prequel. Aimed at teenagers/tweens and horse lovers of all ages. The only romance is between a girl and a horse.

I loved it!. I only wish it was longer. I would love to read more about Meg and Major. Maybe there's a prequel part two in the works? [Hint, hint] I'm going on to reread the rest of the series.
