This was just a tad bit too out there for me. I found the subject interesting and intriguing, but, even though I suspended belief as much as possible, I still was just shaking my head at the whole setup. None of this would ever happen and I think it is best I just leave it there. I don't want to spoil anyone and feel like anything I say would ruin the unraveling of the "mystery".

I think some people might be into this. I think it has a refreshing concept and the politics are very

First part of the book was ok. I was curious what was happening. There was a bit of mystery around Jay. But both Jay and Deron's erratic behavior was a bit over the top for me. When the crucial plot twist came, I was disappointed. It was a bit unbelievable, and when the reason for it was revealed it was frankly not what I expected. I started skipping pages after 45%. There was a lot of sex but I didn't feel the connection between Deron and Jason that they kept mentioning. There w

This was my first Tanya Chris book, but it won't be my last! What a great, twisty-turny mystery. This was a really neat take on the amnesia trope that kept me guessing all the way through. I definitely recommend it! ...more

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.75 stars

Oh, this story was such a thrill ride, I was captivated throughout the book! Tanya Chris writes in many genres, but her suspense stories are some of my favorites. The early part of this story, in particular, was so intense and exciting as Jay slowly starts to realize his life is not what it seems. Chris builds the suspense so well as we know Jay has amnesia, and we know that he is connected to Deron, but Jay is unaware of both of these things. We also have no ide

I think in part it might have been the lack of adequate world building and atmosphere (i.e., Bronx neighborhood... where were the smells of baking bread? old men arguing? sun-drenched brownstones?) that spoiled the story for me. The lack thereof made this story seem a bit dull. A bit less real. There were incidents and passages that seemed highly unlikely. I felt pretty ambivalent about both main characters, and there was no strong secondary cast. To be fair there were parts of the sto

Very different in a good way!

This is sort of a political thriller but the political aspect only gets addressed in passing, since it’s hidden political information that drives this suspense plot. The psychology behind Jason/Jay’s amnesia is improbable but based on logic that makes the premise believable. Including recognizing the pull Jay feels towards Deron without knowing who he is. The action plot is very clever and I wish so hard that some of it was real, which you’ll understand if you live i

I’ve read this author before but only her paranormal work. This is a mm contemporary story with great mystery. Main characters are Jay and Deron. This story really sucked me in and was set in the USA. I’ll read more from this author.

Looking for a suspenseful, intriguing and unique twist on amnesia? Then Forget I Told You by Tanya Chris is for you, reinforcing that the heart knows what it wants, and true love is strong enough to conquer even logical thought, to demolish even the toughest defenses.

Jay cannot seem to put his finger on the niggling feeling something with his life is not right. He has a successful career, attentive wife, and nice house. But why can’t he quite remember getting married? Moreover, why do things fro

Forget I Told You is a standalone mystery/romantic suspense novel with an intriguing premise that, while it has a number of flaws, is a fast-paced and suspenseful story that kept me guessing and eagerly turning the pages.  It does require a fairly large suspension of disbelief, but no more than that needed for many of today’s films and TV shows.

Therapist Jay Burgess has, as the book synopsis says, “a nice wife and a nice life with a nice house and a nice job in the very nice city of

This is the kind of book where it's more about the journey than the ending. The mystery while predictable is fun to watch it unfold.

The ending however, just feel kind of meh after everything.

I wish this book had come with a warning that it involved a political plot. I was looking forward to an interdepartmental crime drama/thriller. The whole whistleblower thing ticked me off. There is enough of that stuff being shoved down my throat in real life and I don’t want it bleeding into my reading, which is supposed to be my happy place to escape. While I enjoyed the characters and the basic premise of the story, the whole political bent was not my thing at all.

This book is so much more than I expected. Despite, what I had heard about this book, I figured it would be about 2 people reconnecting after one of them somehow loses there memory. And what I feel this author does very well, is creating believable, authentic characters and then connecting them together so beautifully. Relationship-building is where I thought the author shined, but now I am not so sure. There is so much more to this story. The mystery at the root of this story, is revealed so gr ...more

A solid 4 stars
As usual with Tanya Chris, the writing is good.
Even though not new, the amnesia plot is treated cleverly and the reader wants to know more.
A slight problem with the procedural/political context which IMO was a bit superficial and not really thought through.
Still a good book I would recommend.

“You can choose to forget or choose to remember...The thing is…The mind can forget, but the heart never will.” ~ Mary Elizabeth Francisco

Jay, of ‘Forget I Told You’ by Tanya Chris, doesn’t understand why he feels so unsettled all the time. He should be happy, but he’s not. Constantly, Jay runs into things he can’t remember - fundamental things like why he got married, when was the last time he had had sex with his wife, etcetera. Jay is constantly plagued with dreams and half memories that he ca

This story delves into areas usually reserved for SciFi but does it in a way that isn't SciFi at all. The layering of tension and suspense was magnificent. By the climax, I was completely paranoid and didn't trust ANYONE. There was plenty of evidence throughout the story to be able to have seen the big reveal coming but it was glossed over on purpose and we were redirected to other options. This really was a perfect blend of suspense and romance.

My only complaint was how fast the relationship d

This is such a stand out author for me. Every time I read one of her stories I think she can’t top herself and yet once I start one of her stories I just can’t set it down. This is another that from the beginning had me hooked. I wish I could do more justice to this story but I’m not a writer but I sure have strong feelings for this story. When I started the story I felt it was about a relationship that started from a strong instant connection between Jay and Deron. Then as that starts to take a ...more

Tanya Chris blew me away with this heart pounding, heart stopping, and beyond suspenseful read. I was on the edge of my seat, holding my breath at times and wanting to knowing everything but not wanting it to end.

The character development in this book is flawless. Wow did the main characters have heat and the secondary characters all were perfectly necessary to the plot. I felt like I could have dropped right into the story the character development and world building was so well done.

No questioning the amazing versatility of this author.
There is not a single topic or trope that Tanya has not tried and executed with brilliance. Anything from sweet YA to BDSM to cloak & dagger espionage...
and she nails it beautifully every... Single... Time!

I must be honest, and confess, this is not my first choice when it comes to subject matter in the books I enjoy. A lot of the political stuff goes a bit over my head😂... But this is just me. This, by no means lessens the fact that this book

Tense, intriguing twist on an old theme

Amnesia is an old romance trope, but I don't think I've ever seen it done quite like this.
I can't say why, because that would spoil everything, do you'll just have to read it to see.
The tension is brilliantly managed, with that creepy Memento-esque where the you experience everything along with the protagonist: inability to tell fact from fiction, inability to know who to trust.
It's really well done and I enjoyed Jay and Derin finding their way back to each

Oh my god what a story from start to finish it had me captivated. I was seconded guessing everything and everyone.

Jay is married to a woman but why does it not feel right. Something is slightly off. But even more so when he spots someone in a Seattle coffee shop and he can’t get the mysterious man out of him mind. Something is playing on his mind about this guy.

Deron knows it’s a bad idea going to Seattle but he just has to see him once just to make sure he is ok. It’s not like he will rec

The first chapters made me feel that this would be a four or five stars book but unfortunately I was disappointed. One MC, Jay, describes his memory as "Just facts. No color, no detail" , and that's how this story was for me. The characters and plot never engaged me. Every time that I thought that they would the story fell flat, didn't take off, didn't go where I expected it to. Also, the behavior of the police and FBI, and the temporary solution to Jay's problem were implausible. T
