This story is about a boy who feels confused and trapped in a split world. He feels angry at his parents for getting divorced and he feels lost and confused. His teacher gets frustrated because he constantly leaves his homework at the wrong parent's house. "But sometimes I forget things. Like I leave a book that I need for homework at Mom's, and Dad has to get it. Or I leave my homework on the counter at Mom's, and she drops it off at school. When at school the teacher begins to notice all the homework assignments he is missing because he is always leaving his school work at the parents house he is not staying with that night. My daughter (8 yrs) really hates any book about divorce, and she simply hates the word divorce, but she's adjusting. I purchased this and one other for her. I like that this is a story about other children and not directed at the reader.

This is an excellent book for kids who are going through any stage of their parents' divorce. Readers will relate to Mark's and Evan's feelings and frustrations as they navigate (click here for the full review http://www.storysnoops.com/detail.php...).

This book may seem a little under the age level for my text set, but it is not too horrible and serves an important part in my text set. The book is only 25 pages long - making it a quick read. I would likely share this book first, to introduce the topic of a divorce and what it can be like. One of the main characters in the book is in the 4th grade; this, among other reasons would make the book relatable to my students, whether their parents are divorced or together. I think this explains short ...more
