A wonderfully playful picture book showcasing adorable baby animals and celebrating their glorious diversity, from "paws and claws and little flippers" to "feet that look like fuzzy slippers!"
This hilarious picture book with rollicking, rhyming text reads like a crowd-pleasing call, pumping up readers' excitement for the cutest baby animals ever. Illustrated with lively National Geographic photography , We Love Babies! presents furred, feathered, and finned baby animals of all shapes and sizes. Whimsical cartoon cheerleaders add to the fun, popping up throughout the book to lead fans in the irresistible "We love babies, yes we do, we love babies, how about you?"
Jill Esbaum is a full-time writer and author of I am Cow, Hear Me Moo!, I Hatched!, Stanza, and Tom’s Tweet, among many others. She lives on a farm with her husband and children in Dixon, IA.
This adorable picture book features dozens of baby animals from familiar species like the Elephant and Rabbit, to strange species like the Long-Eared Jerboa and the Serval. The photographs of these cute little babies are colorful and sweet! There are tiny cartoon characters drawn into the corners of the pages who cheer for the babies.
The text describes all the things we love about animal babies, their soft fur, their stripes, and fins. Their hooves, and paws. Their snuffles and snorts, their squawks and peeps. "Big or tiny, fast or slow" we definitely love animal babies!
Photographs of the animal babies are placed in a colorful background design that is sure to capture the attention of little readers. At the back of the book there is a glossary listing the species of each baby animal, and showing what they are called. For instance, a baby elephant is called a calf. A baby dormouse is a pup. A baby rabbit is a kit. A baby angelfish is called a fry. A baby kangaroo is a joey. And a baby alpaca is a cria.
This would be really fun to read with a young child and talk about each of the animals. You could ask the child to identify some of the words that come up in the text, and point out a bird beak or a snout or the ears.

This is a cute book for young children. Using actual photographs of baby animals to illustrate their cuteness in a charming manner, the book rhythmically rollicks along with a cheerful, gleeful free rhyme that brings joy to the reader.
Cute little cartoonish cheerleaders join in as they chant "We love babies! Yes we do!" encouraging the listening child to cheer and chant along.
At the back of the book, a couple of pages are dedicated to identifying the baby animals.
This a fun book that introduces sweet human babies and toddlers little to critters. I recommend the book.

A highlight of our Valentine's Day tea party this year was this new addition to our home library courtesy of National Geographic Kids, who sent me a review copy. Using catchy rhyming text and beautiful nature photographs this adorable picture book highlights the unique features of dozens of baby animals while four sweet cartoon figures (baby cow, squirrel, pig, and monkey) chant, "We love babies! Yes we do! We love babies! How about you?" My girls (ages 2, 4, and 6) all gave a resounding yes to that question, and they loved oohing and aahing over each baby animal's adorable face. This is a wonderful read-aloud for story time at home, at school, or in the library, and it's a guarantee that my girls will be asking to hear it again and again.

Ridiculously cute, with Nat Geo photos of utterly adorable baby animals. The rhyming text was solid -- I could've done without the little cartoon animals that kept cheering us on from the corner of the pages, though.
