There is a reason why Arjay Lewis is one of my favorite authors out there, and Specter In The Mind just shows yet again why! I just can't say enough good things about this author and book!!!! He has a way with words that I can't describe, so pick up this book and start reading it. The words seem to flow effortless onto the paper and as soon as you start reading you are drawn into the world of Leonard Wise. This book is probably one of my favorites to date and will be tough to beat. The other two fighting for the top are Asylum and Haunted in the Mind in this series.

I just LOVE when Leonard "fights" the paranormal in haunted places, those are my favorite and that is what I live for. And finally he goes back to where in my eyes it all began, Scudder House! In this book Arjay Lewis just packs the biggest punch to date and brings it all to a big crescendo! He also lets Dr. Wise have some reprieve of his daily pain that he has back home. This book has it all, the pace is perfect leaving you not one second wishing for something to happen, not dragging out the plot nor giving you a second to put the book down. When I get one of these books I don't bother starting it unless I know I have enough time to finish it in pretty much one sitting and some food ready to eat so I don't have to worry about anything because this is what my life will be about, until I AM DONE. I know that and I am prepared for it and if that means that book will be on my kindle for a week waiting so be it because I know I will not be able to put it down.

I hope we will see more of Doctor Kohl! He is a great character with his quirky German mannerism that supports Len 100%. He is the German equivalent to Mrs Higgins, Leonard's Irish landlady who also has a bit of an extra 6th sense. All these characters are so well rounded and become almost like family to you that you can't wait but hear more of them. I for one can't wait for the next book.

Rarely do you see a main character return to a place where he was scared out of his wits, but was a success in terms of uncovering treasure. Despite this seemingly perfect balance of good and evil, Doctor Leonard Wise succumbs to Doctor Fritz Kohl's begging after there is a death at the haunted Scudder House. Was it paranormal, suicide, or murder?

Now, bearing in mind that I have not (yet...) read the six books prior to this one, I thought I would be completely lost with the intricacies of Leonard's story. Thank goodness, I had nothing to worry about as the author deals with this very successfully. I feel I know Leonard, and I would like to know more about him. I want to see him happy, settled, and sober.

I love paranormal/occult stories. I particularly enjoy those that are detailed, with real people, and believable. This was one of those books. This is a well-written story, a slow-burner, that couples detail with action, not forgetting the growing menace throughout. The only downside for me was that the end fight scene seemed to be over too quickly, but that's just a personal preference.

I was completely engrossed from the first page to the last. Very entertaining and enjoyable, and I adored the wee twist in the ending. Back to reality for Leonard!

Love Dr Wise, but was disappointed with this last book (No.7). The story didn't grab me like the others. He goes back to Scudder House and things start to go wrong. The place is still haunted, 2 people die and 2 of the team get possessed by a stone North American demon who has been trapped in Scudder House for years. It wants to be released and the only way is to get rid of the large stone slab holding him prisoner underground, put there and sealed by an old medicine man. Dr Wise has to use his all his powers to face and banish the demon before it can get out and cause havoc. I found some pieces of this book a little silly but all in all it wasn't bad, not as good as his other books.

Excellent!

This series keeps getting better and better! Len returns to Scudder house and finally finds out the true evil that is there. As he prepares to attempt to put an end to the evil, he’s unsure whether he can survive it. This book was really exciting and full of surprises. I can’t wait to read the next book!

Excellent Book!

I just couldn’t put this book down. It invoked a whole plethora of emotions in me. Anger, fear, sadness, laughter. Sometimes reading the Dr. Wise series of books makes me feel like I’ve ran a marathon by the time I reach the end.

I think this book is great, I had no idea it was the book 7 in the Doc. Wise series. I became so excited when I found out I actually had the book 1 after I read this, but it doesn't matter, cos they are all stand alone and can be read in any order.
