I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of this book and was intrigued straight away. Read it in 2 days as I just could not put it down.
For fans of books like Illuminae files and Heart of iron, this book is for you. Action packed, romance, mystery and magic all tied into one. Keeps you hanging on for the next page and doesn’t disappoint. Need the next instalment now.

An unexpected gem..

I’m not entirely sure what I was expecting when I picked this up, sufficed to say it has far exceeded my expectations. A wonderful tale with likeable heroes and heroines, and loath-able villains. I’d highly recommend this.. More soon I hope!

I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of Excess Gravity from the author to review. The novel follows Arra on her 18th birthday as she discovers she is one of the two last Solar Empyreans. Her newly discovered identity and powers thrust her into a world of political intrigue, drama, action, and adventure. Excess Gravity melded fantasy and science fiction together perfectly and was an incredibly fast read. It has been a while since I read anything that was not contemporary fiction or non-fictio ...more

After finishing this novel, I can truly say this a hidden gem! What a fantastic Sci novel hidden away beneath so many books!

Arra and Etaine are everything and I honestly can't wait to read more about them and they're evolving relationship. Throughout the course of the novel I felt that I really got to understand Arra's inner self and I loved the character development! I'm very excited to learn more about Etaine in the future!

The setting was exquisite I really got an idea

I absolutely loved this book. It is a bit different from my usual genre, but I loved it nonetheless. It had many excellent ups, downs, twist and turns. I eagerly await the next installment to this series as this first book has alluded to an exciting as well as mostly unpredictable continuation!! The romance that is growing between Arra and Etaine left me wanting more with the slow burn of their relationship. This is a new author for me and I cannot wait for more from her. A great read with plent ...more

Hi! I’m A.J., author of Excess Gravity, the first book in the Empyreal Saga. I love science and fiction—on their own, and together in novels. When I’m not reading, my day job broadly involves research and teaching in higher education.

In terms of life goals, I didn’t plan on authoring a novel, but I’m so glad I did. My family encouraged me to write fiction, and I finally took the plunge
