Even better! The writing style isn't perfect - if I see the word "heckle" one more time, I might die - but Raine has improved greatly.
The story has gotten better. We've learned more about everything that's happening, which finally made the stakes feel real. And the war (or wars, really) is finally starting to have an impact on our characters rather than just being an inconvenience.
My main complaint is still just the pairing up of the characters. Almost every character has a love interest, and I

This is probably my least favorite in the series, but I still liked it quite a bit! My biggest complaint (and the reason for the low[er] rating) is the lack of Macarius. There's so much mystery surrounding him, and I was hoping to learn a little more about him than I did. I was also hoping he would play a larger part, but most of the page-time is given to the Neverland/Queen Syreen plotline. As for the rest, the focus is strongly on character and dialogue, which I like. There are several twisty ...more

This is 3 for 3 very good books in this series. A good book, worth the money to buy and the time to read. This is yet another one that I will reread. Gives me a reason to look forward to winter!

Considering how good the first two books were, amazingly this book is better yet. The story remains interesting with still unexpected twists and turns.

Buy it, read it or better yet buy the first two in the series and then read all three. You will not be sorry.

Betrayals and Dragons and Scythes, Oh My!

There were a lot of "Oh Snap!", moments, revelations and sweet fight scenes in this third installment.

Ellie Raine has created a very expansive world full of engaging characters, cultures and dragons that pulls you in and keeps you immersed from start to finish.

I can't wait for Book Four!

Award-winning author Ellie Raine is a die-hard lover of epic adventures and thrilling battles. Since it’s what she loves to read (Douglas Hulick, Rachel Aaron, and Brandon Sanderson especially!) obviously it’s what she loves to write.

She grew up in a family of book lovers, comic readers, and video gamers in the suburbs of Georgia where she always dreamed of making the next explosive game series th
