I received this book through the First Reads giveaway program.

Remembering that poetry is very subjective, I feel very strongly that this poet has great potential. Some of these were quite lovely and brought vivid images to mind. Others need a bit of work, but you can sense the emerging leaves of a beautiful creation just on the horizon. 😊

This was a Goodreads give away. Haiku poems are traditionally about nature. This expands that definition to include poems about making breakfast, domestic quarrels, observations or people in the street, preparing for public performances, etc. Two poems are on each page and this book can be read during a commercial break while watching television. Thanks to the author for making it available as a give away.

~Disclaimer: I received a free kindle version of this book~

Poetry is always hard to review. It is so personal. For me reviewing poetry is usually just did I like it? I’ll be honest all the other haiku books I’ve read fall into the horror genre and this was a departure. But personally I found these haikus brought a peaceful feeling. They are about everyday stuff and create strong imagery.

Sample:

A peaceful forest
Just steps of a walking dog
And voice of a child.

Days go by faster
When spent with on

Poetry is subjective and some of these were more meaningful than others.

Some nice imagery

Haiku is one of my favorite forms of poetry and I can get lost in the way so few words can evoke every imaginable emotion in the simplest of everyday things.

I enjoyed the simplicity of events and insights the author used to share the world from his point of view, and the use of some nice imagery, sights, sounds, but I found the emotional impact to be lacking. Passive verbs were overused, but I think those could be revised to form beautiful poems--there is potential in the autho

I won a digital copy of this book through a giveaway hosted on GoodReads.

It is amazing how much can be said with a few words when written by a skilled poet. Haiku World is an excellent example of this fact. Using the format of the haiku, Kuo Kenih gives a feeling of young life. The subject matter in this book spans from the classic nature themes of the world around the author, to musings on family, friends, love, and life as a whole. And, given the short form, this piece can be easily read in a

Has potential; needs revision

There are wonderful images and in some pieces a kind of insight. But many of the poems need more precise description and more attention to language to eliminate wordiness and needless repetition.

I won this in a Goodreads Giveaway (thank you)! I'm a bit of a nerd for aphorisms, so I was hoping the haikus would have a bit more depth than what is presented in this collection. However, there were still a few lines that popped out at me :)

I love haiku. Unfortunately, these poems are a bit shallow. I was hoping for something deeper and more traditional.

Most of these are about ordinary things, without much haiku impact.
