Part travelogue, part captivating interviews, with generous sprinklings of humor, fine writing and evocative pictures. This is an easy book to enjoy in small gulps as you make way across the Great Lake states with Chris (and you don't even have to spend long days on a bicycle to do it!). I highly recommend this fascinating book. ...more

Very enjoyable read about Chris Register's bike trip through the Great Lakes, talking to a variety of people about their thoughts and feelings concerning the U.S. I found the description of the logistics of the bike trip just as interesting as the people he interviewed. I'm looking forward to his next book. ...more

A fantastic read that gives you plenty to ponder. And makes you want to hit the road on your own tour. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

How many of us have dreamed of taking to the road, traveling, talking and listening to the voices of America? Chris Register did just that. He saddled up his two wheeled steed and pedaled 16,000 miles through through America's highways and byways.

Along the way he spoke with and interviewed hundreds of ordinary and extraordinary Americans and recorded their views on the direction of our country.

A fascinating read. RECOMMENDED.
