I can see why so many readers love this book, it's a cute story, however it didn't meet my expectations. I picked it up mainly because it features a character with autism. I hoped to learn more on that subject, but the author barely scratched the surface. I don't feel I got to know Finnley well, and more often than not I found his behaviour not believable. I'm only speaking from my own personal experience.

Whatever Happens is a beautifully written story about love, friendship and so much more. It is a friendship between two young adults who are opposites n a lot of ways, but yet alike at the same time. Life isn’t always about what is on the outside, it’s the inside that also counts. And Finn and Violet learn that as their friendship begins and starts to blossom into more.

Violet Page has been struggling lately. After her little sister’s suicide, her parents pick up and

Whatever Happens is a beautifully captivating and an emotionally heartbreaking journey that wholeheartedly captivated my heart and soul. Micaela Smeltzer's powerful storytelling ability ALWAYS has me hook, line, and sinker right from the first few words on the page and this story was no exception. This phenomenally talented author never ceases to amaze me with the stories she writes and this is hands down one of my favorites from her. I COULD NOT

Every now and again you start to read a book and you get chills because you know you are reading something special.

I could tell the author out alot of thought into this story. Violet and Finn have topped the list of my favourite YA couples. A different kind of love story with such a beautiful message behind it. The friendship that develops between them is written so beautifully. The patience and understanding that Violet shows Finn will have you wishing everyone was this way. Finn is such an am

What a beautiful, heartbreaking, powerful story Micalea Smeltzer has written! I don't usually read YA novels, but this book drew me in within the first paragraphs and I couldn't put it down!
We meet Violet at the start of her senior year, after moving from Texas to Massachusetts after a devastating loss, she and her parents are trying to rebuild their lives and find a semblance of normalcy after Violet's fourteen year old sister committed suicide. Her losing her sister in such a way caused Violet

He kisses me softly, cradling my cheek in his hand. “The stars have burned for a millennia, and we will too.”
Just then, a star shoots across the sky. Finn’s words echo in my head from long ago. “I don’t believe wishes come true, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth making.”
So, under that night sky, wrapped in the arms of the boy I love, I make a wish.

Micalea is a very talented author who started writing really young. She captures & draws you in every story she writes.

Violet & Finnleys story was beautiful to say the least. This hit home & cried a little because my 24 year old stepson is minor autistic. He is photogenic but his social skills are lacking. If you are looking for a different kind of love, read "Whatever Happens". Loved this book!

There truly aren't enough words for me to formulate a review worthy enough. Absolutely beautiful. This story was so touching...maybe more so for me because Finn reminds me so very much of my son who is the same age and also on the spectrum. So very beautifully and respectfully written I loved every minute of it.

I can’t stop the tears

“Just because someone is different than you, or you don’t understand them, doesn’t mean they’re beneath you.”

This was heartbreaking, sweet, cute, and heartwarming all in one. It was just perfect and had me in tears. This is the kind of books I like. A good heartfelt book. Knowing all about having a disability, I really understood how Finn felt. Also being extremely shy, yeah I understood and got Finn a lot. I thought it was the sweetest story. What a way to kick off th

What a stunningly beautiful story. Micalea you brought so much to this story. Two souls who are different from one another but connect in the most truthful way. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. I never wanted their story too end. I connected easily with these two.

Pain deserves to be felt. If you don’t feel it, then was the love even real?”

Some people go a lifetime without ever looking up at the stars. They know they're there and have maybe even studied them in a textbook. Knowing basic facts about something, however, isn't seeing or understand.

Violet Page and Finnley Crawford know this all too well. They know the consequences of things being overlooked, unseen, and cast aside. These two teenagers are each struggling through their last year of high school.

The once-popular Violet has just moved to a new town after the death of her

Whatever Happens is an absolutely superb, heartbreaking, powerful, emotional, magnificent story! I'm generally not a fan of the high school stories when it comes to YA fiction, but something about this blurb drew me in. I've never read anything my Micalea Smeltzer before, but Finn and Violet's story absolutely blew me away!

This is by far one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time. Poignant, and moving, this book made tears flow more than once. Violet is reeling and lost, her whole family is, or what’s left of it. She’s just lost her younger sister and is uprooted from the only home she’s ever known, moving halfway across the country because of her father’s new job. She’s realized that the things she once thought of as important, aren’t. Starting at her new school as a senior, she’s ready to focus on gradu ...more

Violet&Finn!
This was an amazing read.
Violet and her parents have moved to a new house, next door is where Finn lives.
Finn is autistic, but such an amazing young man, he’s very shy and guarded at first but it’s understandable (sadly) after how he’s been treated by his fellow school peers.
Violet is a caring, kind girl who after the upsetting and sudden loss of her sister has realised there’s more to life than popularity and a social life. I wouldn’t say she dislikes how she used to be before he

Whatever Happens by Micalea Smeltzer
“A different kind of love, 5 stars”

Oh, how I loved Finn and Violet! Smeltzer gave us a killer love story with a real-life twist. Not all hero’s or heroines are perfect but they are perfect for their counterpart and that’s exactly what Finn was for Vi. He was perfect for her and she for him. They just got each other.

Holy mother of God, Micalea is a writing genius. I said one of her last books was made for the big screen, and I stand by that, but this book....This was made for every big screen and every nightstand. This may be classified as a YA read, but honestly I don’t think it fits in just that category. I viewed this both from Violet’s perspective, just as much as I viewed it from her mom’s perspective, and that’s strong. I do not think just any writer can make that happen, and if you’re not a mother yo ...more

Whatever Happens, is about two young adults, Violet and Finn. Violet and her parents have just moved states, perhaps in a way to stop the pain of Violet’s younger autistic sister committing suicide months before.
Finn is autistic, he is awkward, he doesn’t talk to many people, he barely looks in people eyes, he has a service dog. He is secluded at school, he is classed as a freak. But not in Violet’s eyes. She sees him as he is and when he starts to trust her he lets her into his world.

Whatever Happens was a breath of fresh air from everything else I've been reading lately. Violet and Finn captivated me from that beautiful cover to the first words all the way the last where I was left wanting more of these two special characters. This book deals with some hard hitting issues that Micalea did an amazing job addressing. Throughout this book, Micalea takes us on an emotional journey filled with loss, heartache, healing, and love. Although Violet and Finn come from two different w ...more
