Forget Me Not by Krisitie Cook The Havenwood Falls Novellas are a paranormal girl's dream come true. I am in love with these stories.
Forget Me Not is the first book I have read by Kristy Cook. I am definitely adding all her books to my TBR pile. This tale was filled with twists and turns, mystery, and romance. I was sucked in from page 1 and the surprise ending left me slack-jawed. Cook packed quite a bunch in this novella.
Old Wounds by Susan Burdorf Old Wounds is the first novella I have read in the Havenwood Falls Novella series and my first look at author Susan Burdorf. I gotta say I am loving the concept of this new series. Small, quaint Colorado town full of paranormals, I am packing my bags today!
Obviously based on the title, there is heartache but don't dwell on that. This story is about fated true love. Oh how I do love a shifter romance.
I am looking forward to devouring this series.
Fate, Love, and Loyalty by E.J. Fechenda Why have I not read anything by E.J. before? Shame on me! Her novella in the Havenwood Falls Series was exhilarating. The heat. The passion. The cat fight. Be still my heart. I need a fan and a glass of ice tea. Just wow!
This is my first introduction to Havenwood Falls. I had never heard of the series before I stumbled across this collection.
The first story Forget You Not was just what I needed. A short, fluffy story about supernatural town filled with typical supernatural characters (and some mortals). I liked the vampires, mostly. The story unfolded fairly organically with minimal forced moments that were there to spur on the plot. The ending felt a little rushed and the love story was Overall a worthwhile short read when you're looking for brain candy. Solid 3 stars.
The second story, Old Wounds, was soooo bad. There was literally nothing worthwhile about it. At all. Well, I guess that it took place in Havenwood Falls. Except that it didn't even really. It took place in the outskirts and in a couple of scenes that could have taken place anywhere. The love story was THE WORST. It was everything wrong with love stories. Let me use a spoiler tag, even though /I/ don't think it is worth it: Skip this story entirely. Don't even bother to skim.
On to the last story...
Which I started and then waited months to finish. It was okay...I guess. I kind of hate the whole "mate" thing. I think it is dumb and perpetuates that idea that there is only ONE person who is your TRUE SOUL MATE. I do not believe that and think that it encourages unhealthy relationships. I also thought that it was dumb that Aster's and Reeve's punishments were so harsh. I mean, come on - some psycho comes to your town and causes a ruckus and your response is to banish two of your own? I don't think so. Rating? I dunno. 2.5/3 stars. I guess.
Look, I really like the idea of Havenhood. Having a central town of "supes" that allows a group of authors to work collectively but tell their own stories. I think that is really neat. And I get the impression that, if I were to read on, which I will not be doing, there is some mystery to uncover about the town. However, these were way to romancey for me and the storytelling or writing or characterization or something or everything was really weak.
For some it might tickle their fancy. There surely are some stories I like way too much, this one wasn't one of them.

The first story was fine but the second and third stories lacked. They felt rushed and I had a hard time connecting to the characters. The second story had a completely unbelievable change of heart on part of the characters, going from hurt to undying love in a few sentences really ruins the whole story. Also there are several editing errors. If you can overlook the childish characters and elementary story structure, you will like it.
I really liked the first story in terms of the whole amnesia spell vampire returning home but the other two stories were lost on me. I understand this is suppose to be a magical town of vampire, shifters, humans and etc but I cannot understand the whole meeting the mate so intense thing that you forget all reason and don’t mourn someone’s death properly. Threw me off. Needed some editing.
The stories weren't to my liking and the concept of the town was too unbelievable for me. Add in that two of the stories began with heartbreak of some sort and I lost interest fast.
Forget You Not by Kristie Cook -four stars Old Wounds by Susan Burdorf -three stars Fate, Love, and Loyalty by E.J. Fechenda -two stars (there was NO reason for Braden to die, so I'd give it one star, but the rest of the story was really good)

Three stories set in Havenwood Falls and three reviews.
Forget You Not. I have never heard of a moroi vampire so that was a new terminology for me.
We are introduced to Kaela who is living in the city as a vampire. Yet, somehow she is finding herself being called to Havenwood. A place she has never heard of.
Only once she arrives there it is like she was meant to be there. The place where she is working at the old lady says weird things and then everything slowly starts coming together. There is a reason Havenwood calls to her and it has to do with her past. She will end up uncover something that is very sinister yet at the same time finding her true love.
Old Wounds. Sherry is leaving her past behind. It seems that just because you are in a relationship doesn't mean much when they don't love or respect you as you do them. Sherry finds herself headed to our lovely town of Havenwood Falls. When she ends up meeting someone she thinks is an angel she has feelings but she doesn't want to act on them anymore than she already has. Rusty has found his soulmate doesn't matter if she is human he just hopes she will find her feelings for him as he has them for her.
Will she be able to accept Rusty when he tells her the truth of what he is? This one felt a little weird because well the way the whole thing went down between Sherry and Rusty. I mean sleeping with the dude when he brings her to his cabin? I don't know that just sounds a bit weird. What happens if he was a serial killer or something worse? I just couldn't get behind that.
Fate, Love and Loyalty. What do you do when you are in love and all of a sudden the man you thought was your lover ends up finding himself in the arms of your sister? You shift and run in the forest. You feel sad but know there is nothing really you can do because the mating call has to be answered. Aster has always felt second to her sister so when her sister comes back into town and imprints on her lover Patrick she is hurt. Though she knows there is nothing she can truly do, she just has to say goodbye to him and just move on with her life. Yet, what she doesn't know is that her sister didn't have it easy before she made it back home. It seems that another shifter has a sick mind and will stop at nothing to have her back at his place. A good fighting scene will occur and Aster might end up finding her one true love even though a death will happen. We end up finding out what happened to Aster's sister and you do have to feel a bit sorry for her.
I was introduced to the town of Havenwood Falls in the middle of the series, and I was really looking forward to going back to the beginning to get some background on this town with a predominantly supernatural population. This collection begins with the first story, Forget You Not, which features vampires. The main character, Kaela is living outside of the town with no memory of her past in Havenwood Falls when she brutally attacks her fiance. To run from her past, she takes a job offer in Havenwood Falls. Upon entering the town, her memories begin coming back to her before she unlocks her family's painful truth. The author did provide their own unique take on the vampire story, which I appreciated as a reader. This wasn't just a well told story, but also one that really helps set the stage for the town by unlocking its many bigger secrets.
The second story, Old Wounds, includes werewolves. Woman gets betrayed by a loser lover, runs away, and mysteriously winds up in Havenwood Falls. She gets herself into some trouble which involves wolves and wakes up in a cabin alone with a hot guy who she happens to fall into bed with. Loser lover comes to town trying to get his girl back and more trouble kicks up. Wasn't much new here in terms of other paranormal romances that I've read.
The third story, Fate, Love, & Loyalty follows a group of mountain lion shifters, some of which live in Havenwood Falls and some of which don't. Readers meet Aster, a young shifter who seems to have everything going for her until her sister comes back to town and throws everything for a loop by stealing her boyfriend. Oh, and on top of that, the reason why she's in town is because she's running from another shifter who laid claim to her. Complications abound. Get ready for some pretty steamy sex scenes and scenes of male chauvinism. This novella also actually delves a little bit into the politics of the town and explains how the comings and goings of the town are controlled. This part of it I found pretty interesting and would like to hear more.
Overall, still a series I will definitely be reading more of.
Havenwood Falls Volume One (Havenwood Falls Collections Book 1) is the first volume in the Havenwood Falls series. This series is a collaboration of stories written by many wonderful authors. In this volume are the following titles Forget You Not by Kristie Cook, Old Wounds by Susan Burdorf, and Fate, Love & Loyalty by E.J. Fechenda. I’ll be updating my review as I finish each title.
Forget You Not by Kristie Cook
Forget You Not is the first book in the Havenwood Falls series. This series is a collaboration of stories written by many wonderful authors. Each book in this series is a standalone title and can be read in any order. This book was just a great introduction into this new world and new characters. I just had so much fun reading this story. I just couldn’t put it down until I turned the last page. This was just such a quick and easy read that I was able to finish it in one sitting. I just fell in love with these characters and I can’t wait to see what’s next for this series.
Old Wounds by Susan Burdorf
Old Wounds is the second book in the Havenwood Falls series. This series is a collaboration of stories written by many wonderful authors. Each book in this series is a standalone title and can be read in any order. In this novella you meet Sherry Grimes and Russell Higgins. I just absolutely fell in love with these characters and what they were going through. I just absolutely love this world and all of its characters. I just couldn’t put this story down and I finished it in one sitting. I just can’t wait to see what’s next for this series.
Fate, Love & Loyalty by E.J. Fechenda
Fate, Love & Loyalty is the third book in the Havenwood Falls series. This series is a collaboration of stories written by many wonderful authors. Each book in this series is a standalone title and can be read in any order. Oh my gosh this novella just captured my attention. I just absolutely fell in love with this story and its characters. My emotions were just all over the place while reading this book. I just didn’t want it to end and I was able to finish it in one sitting. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series.
These first three books in the Havenwood Falls series are a compelling start. A town where the supernaturals live in conjunction with each other but their otherworldliness is concealed from the human populous is an fascinating place. The stories, though individual, are interwoven without being dependant on one another. I especially loved Forget Me Not by Kristie Cook, it’s a story full of mystery, heartache, secrets, twists and romance. You soon become invested in the characters lives and want them to find happiness and the storyline definitely leaves you wanting more stories in this world.
3.75 to 4 stars. This volume contains multiple novella written by multiple authors. These 3 go very well together. The authors have similar styles of writing so it's consistent. The last book had several words that were puttogether (like that) and after the first 3 or 4 it got a wee bit annoying. All in all - I really liked Havenwood Falls and wouldn't mind visiting if it were a real place. These books are simple, cute, fun, the characters are good and I liked most of them. Like with most novellas it's hard to really develop a character but each author did a fairly good job.
In this starter set of a brand new series the reader will find themselves drawn into this town and the characters. I read each book individually and all were exceptional in their story telling. I'm not usually a fan of short stories just because I feel like some of the story is being left out. That's not the case with these books. From beginning to end the story flows and completes. I would highly recommend this for those who love paranormal reading!
I really enjoyed reading all of these stories! I have the kindle and print editions. I think the first story, Forget You Not, is the best story so far. Kristie Cook does a really great job of introducing you into the world of Havenwood Falls. There are a lot of rules in Havenwood Falls, it is a very secret place. The characters introduced so far have been very interesting, and a lot of interesting things happen. I love the strange world of the supernatural.
So far I have only read the first Novela but I really enjoyed it. I wish Mikaelah would have forgiven T. Just the fact that he was the love of her BFF and her BF makes me wish the story would have taken that route. I also wish the story would have continued, so I would know who the dark witch was. However, despite those wishes, I enjoyed the book, the mystery, romance and the fact that it was a nice story to read before bed.
If you love shifters, secret small towns with all types of characters from vampires, wolves, witches, fae, wherecats then this is the series for you. Each meeting their mate being drawn to this town from different parts of the world and it works. Seeing some appearances by characters in other stories is something I always enjoy. It just builds on the town and makes it more of a world I can get into.
This was a lovely box set all about shifter romances, written by different authors but all surrounding Havenwood Falls. Each story was different but were connected by the Town and the supernatural. Each book was a quick romance with a nice story, all with a HEA. Lots of angst, so e sweet moments, some sexy moments but overall a nice set of stories to read if you like the supernatural world.
The first three Havenwood series book were a joy to begin my journey from the beginning.
I have read some of the more recent books that take place in the mystical and fictional town of Havenwood. I enjoyed them so much, I decided to start with volume one. So happy I did!
These novellas were a great way to read new authors working a common theme. With strong women and fantastical males we learn of a town steeped in magic and mystery. What I loved was the recurring lesson of togetherness and working within a community to preserve ideals and a way of life. A great escape from today's reality.
Havenwood Falls sounds like a fantastic place to visit. The place offers a little bit of everything you want to meet in a shifter romance. All the stories in Book 1 are interesting with characters that come alive as you read their stories. There is a little bit of every aspect needed for a good, mystical romance. I need to read Book 2 quickly.
Quick reads. The first story was good. The second book was good but some editing 3. The third was good more editing errors and timing as in days were messed up. First a weekend went by then again later they said was the same day before the weekend. No, I am not confusing the two differences POV's. Note that third story has a women being held captive.
Three shorter stories of four couples that meet their mates in a paranormal town that's not on the map. This town has strange rules, magically draws people to it and they forget about it once they leave. Neat concept and great stories, looking forward to next book !!!!
Havenwood Falls has been a wonderful surprise. I can't get enough, and I highly recommend reading them. It's a safe haven town, a place for all types of supernaturals to live and have peace. I have read several of these, and I can't wait to finish them all!
I really enjoyed reading this book, until the end. I feel cheated at the sucky ending to the last story. I was excited to purchase the next book in the series, but now I'm not so sure I will.
This is a good series. There are 3 books. They are fantasy paranormal romances by 3 different authors. I really enjoyed the first book and the 3rd book. The second book , not so much. Just couldn't get into it for some reason. Recommend.
A collection of stories about a magical town that doesn’t appear on any maps unless it wants you to go there. Each story is a stand alone novella about different magical beings and a few humans. Nothing outstanding but each was well written and had its own theme.
This was a good collection of stories all from the same place. I love Havenwood Falls. The way each author embodied their individual story made this a great collection. Now I want to read more about the town itself.
Thoroughly enjoyable read with strong characters and good storyline with a ending you'll love. What more can you ask for, intrigue, suspense and some hot shifter loving.
These three stories were such fun. Three different couples and three different aspects of Havenwood Falls. I love this world and can't wait to visit it again soon!
